Shouldn’t be difficult to add this field and allow grouping by it? Feature Request :)

Yes, point noted about the calendar. I do tend to have two entries for each flight. One is my original entry and the second one is the one Flighty adds and maintains with the uptodate timings. I don't tend to use the calendar once the flights are in Flighty. It pushes me any notifications about changes such as tail number, aircraft swaps and timing changes so I don't have a problem with the calendar clutter. Your point about the PNR is a good one. There is a place to add a booking code in the Flighty entry and I'm not sure why the app doesn't take that across automatically given that it's in the information it's importing. It would be helpful to have an answer on that flightyryan . Thanks.

Tripit took the emails and imported perfectly, even including the Avis car hire in one of them! :)

However, flighty wont connect to tripit. Maybe because it’s trying to get me to sign in to m.tripit.com - ie mobile site, on my iPad. I had put in a valid user/pw. I can login to tripit.com directly in chrome. My rates for Testing apps are very reasonable!! :) Error msg:

edit - maybe i should just use tripit? Will it send me flight changes?

It would be cool if there was a way to export data from flightaware and import it. I just took a flight that is on flightaware but not on flighty

Is this a GDPR issue? I’m based in UK

So, Flighty wont handle my BA emails for import and can’t connect to my Tripit - what a useless app. How do i get a refund on my subscription?

thks

I had a little moan upthread about non-urgent notifications being overly dramatic. I'm still finding some of them to be annoying and unhelpful. Not just because they get in the way of actual time-sensitive messages, but because they're no longer accessible when I do want them.

Case in point: I got a bing!-bing!-bing! this morning about a minor aircraft change (A319 to A320 or similar) in May.

That message was of no value to me at the moment it popped up on my phone. But in order to be sure that I remember to check my seat assignment at some point I need to make a note for myself. Could the app not do that for me, for example by keeping change messages visible until I've read or acknowledged them?

My financial apps, for example, use red dots to alert me to messages I haven't yet dealt with. Supermarkets also let me know -- when I open their app -- that I've got new offers or coupons. This shouldn't be too hard for Flighty.

Is there a problem with widget functionality? I can’t seem to add Lock Screen widget from the Lock Screen mgmt or from the app. (Nor other widgets too) iPad version but i have no iPhone, as i use android. Where is the app rep when needed! :) This software feels very buggy and i would recommend not subscribing to anyone reading this. WJ

I tend to use the BA 'Add to calendar' function and then Flighty picks up the flights automatically from my calendar entries. Actually, I add all flights from all airlines into my calendar and then all my flights appear in Flighty. I've not had a problem using this approach but it can take a few minutes to a few hours for Flighty to parse the calendar. I'm not sure if there's a way to force that.

thanks golfmad!

PNR should be currently getting imported via email import and calendar sync. If it’s not, that’s because the email format or calendar format is not making it deadly clear enough which is the PNR. And we default to nothing versus potentially being wrong.

I totally agree that if we group flights into trips that PNR is the correct way to do it. We’ve had shockingly few requests to group flights. Shockingly few!

Yes. As noted our FAQ TripIt decided to silently kill api access for all its GDPR users. And the error they get does not disclose this. :(

Widgets are not the most robust thing Apple ever built. 99% of the time rebooting your device is the only fix but it’s works.

(I don’t prefer to provide tech support in this thread, we have a tech support team that will write back faster and better than waiting on the ceo to check this thread :) I do love FT, but can’t check it daily!)

FWIW I have never had the PNR sync, and I had no idea this was possible. Almost all of my flights are United and they make it pretty obvious what the confirmation number is

iOS alerts remain in the notification center until tapped. We expected users to triage there. How do you use it instead, so I can learn?

Flight alerts are rapid and many, during flights, if we put a red badge on your app it would just be constantly over-dramatic high value that didn’t match “tasks you need to handle”

really? What flight? Can you check again and search by route too. That would be very weird

I try to keep my screen clear of alerts and don't want to see a notification at "whole phone" level more than once.

Flight alerts are rapid and many, during flights
During travel and shortly before they're mostly very valuable and users will typically want to read them at once.

For that reason I let Flighty notifications do everything they want. In return, to use your analogy, I'd like Flighty to triage the waiting room a little rather than sending every patient straight through with the same colour tag. Ideally, this would take account of both the nature of the change and how far away it is.

I didn't mean to ask for a red badge on the app, rather a red dot (or some other marker) inside the app showing me I've got non-urgent changes to deal with.

Lots of apps (and websites) work this way. When I log in to my bank accounts they tell me there are statements I haven't viewed. One of my banking apps produces phone notifications specifically marked "time sensitive" if they want me to confirm a charge or a login from a new device. A shopping app I use shows me the numbers of offers and coupons I haven't checked out yet. (Of course some of those uses are also excessive -- and the shopping apps in particular are design disasters in other ways.)

Many services generate emails for less urgent notifications, but I don't imagine Flighty wants to go down that route.

And doesn’t handle Widgets. And doesn’t handle PNR.

What a CR@P piece of software!!! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. Use TripIt or any of about 4 other tools that can do what this software can’t do. DM me for further info if needed.

It's interesting how different people view things. I use Flighty religiously. I don't use Tripit so I'm not bothered about their integration. I add flights from the airline's website to my calendar and let Flighty pick things up from there. This does result in duplicate calendar entries but that doesn't bother me. I couldn't disagree more with your conclusions but each to their own.

wanderingjock Feb 8, 2024 3:17 pm

lol Golfmad. I currently have 36 sectors for flights in the next 9 months, along with an average of 6 appointments per day, doubling or tripling these sectors in my diary would create chaos. I have lived in the IT world for 38 years and have to say that the fittest will survive. [ why can’t they load BA flights or PNRs or connect with TripIt or manage Cal updates?] I’m guessing that there will be a Flighty killer app along, probably from Bangalore, in the next 12 months. If not, I’ll get some Seed and do it myself! :) But each to their own. :)

I must admit, I have been using Flighty for a while now and absolutely love it. It gives me the information I want, in a timely manner and allows me to plan my journey as I would wish. I have 56 flights locked and loaded and actually don't experience the double calendar thing at all as I just forward the flight to flighty when I send them to Tripit. I have used many apps over my travelling time, and Flighty has to be one of the best. As you say - each to their own.

But the BA emails wont load into flighty!!!!!

so you are using TripIt AND flighty? And you need TripIt to make flighty work?!

Guys, are you getting free subscriptions for being the cheerleaders? :( [both moderators of BA forum]
