I haven't gotten around to fooling around with Passbook, but that is one thing that interests me.
Not sure I am thrilled with Google Maps being removed.
That is it.

hopefully there'll be a jailbreak tweak to toggle on the turn-by-turn navigation on iPhone4 (and any other non-server side stuff) that _might_ get me to update (happily on tweaked ios 4.3.3)

Colour me disappointed.
1) It is the sloppiest data forgetting upgrade yet. Had to remind it of Apple ID, Facebook login and regional settings.
2) Gave me 11 app updates, I clicked install all and it told me that my Apple ID only works on the UK store but not the Colombian one (I have never used the Colombian store and didn't want to) Didn't tell me how to switch over, just that I would have to. Reminded it a second time of my Apple ID, then apologised again that I couldn't use the Colombia store then said I am being moved (to the UK store) which looked exactly the same.
3) Maps. I live in Bogot. They have translated all the road names into English. That is just plain ********** retarded! Do people using their phones in Spanish in New York see Avenida Quinta instead of 5th Avenue?
Maps - directions gives me a warning to drive safely. Whose idea was that? I don't even have a car.
Bogot - Armenia, new maps says 179 miles and 2 hours 57 minutes. Nonsense! Google maps knows that is over the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes and takes 6 hours.
4) Passbook. Does it actually do anything? Just seems to open my AA app.
5) Safari. What have they done? We spend a fortune on getting our website to work on Safari. Now they have broken it even more. We are half way through a development to fix it again for the previous Safari. Let's see what comes out in the wash.
Edit:
6) I forgot, email still doesn't work properly with gmail exchange IMAP. It blames the server but that's just an Apple thing. I like the pully down refresh because I used to have to nearly push my finger through the glass to get the old refresh thing working

Oh my god - does Apple Maps suck.
If this is indicative of iOS going forward I am pretty sure that I will be replacing my SII with an Android LTE phone rather than replacing my 4S with a 5.
I held off getting an SIII etc. in order to see what the 5 would offer, but sideways "improvements" like a slight increase in aspect ratio and backwards moves like Apple Maps seems really meh.
I think that "banned iPhone 5 promo" video might have it right:
"We improved on the iPhone 4S camera lens - cover."

iOS 6 is here
The maps are shockingly bad in my area - pretty much unusable. Here's a shot of my town:

It doesn't get better when you zoom in. Can you tell the difference between the lane behind the shops and the main highway from London to Edinburgh?
No cycling directions, no footpaths, no public transport, few PoIs, no useful click-trough from PoIs, no street view, no road numbers except on motorways (you really really need these in the UK), very little traffic information.
Pretty much unusable from here. OpenStreetmaps is marginally better for general map-reading but lacks other functionality.
Poor, and enough to drive me to Android if it's not fixed in the next couple of months. Maps is easily the app I rely on most.

I had WinMo phones for a long time but last year decided I'd had enough of the troubles and decided to go either Android or Apple. Apple won as I have the iPhone 4s.

I'm holding off doing it right now because usually first version of software is a little buggy plus I want to see what google is going to do with maps since their version of maps' license was not renewed and there's some functionality in the maps app that Apple's map application doesn't do yet (if it ever will.)

It's probably not a coincidence that Google rolled out another improvement to maps on Android yesterday, while Apple severely degraded maps on iOS.
Speculation is that Google is working on a maps app for iOS, but won't roll it out for six months in order to highlight the advantage of Android. They hadn't included full Android maps functionality in iOS before, so likely won't in the future.
Does Windows phone offer the same maps capability as Nokia had for symbian, including offline maps and directions? That was very good. Better than google offline, but not as google online.

Part of this is the shift to TomTom as a data source (at least here).
The interesting thing? TomTom North America's mapping database operations center is here. Two of my friends that work there mention that they can't actually use their own products to route from their office to their house...

I found a way to get Google Maps back. Open https://maps.google.com in Safari, tap the Action arrow in the bottom center of the screen, and tap Add to Home Screen. You'll get a Google Maps web shortcut on your home screen.
It's not as good as the app, but it's better than Apple Maps.
The lack of walking/public transit directions is particularly troubling to me on Apple Maps. What was Apple thinking?

There isn't an option "Never English when you are in a Spanish speaking country"
EDIT: Just thought to close the app and relaunch it. Now I have Spanglish
Calle 52, Calle 52A and then Street 53
Avenue 13 but Carrera 15
Avenue Cir Cunvalar which should be Avenida Circunvalar
Avenue Alberto LLeras Camargo, and Road 7, both of which should be Avenida Sptima.
Avenue Nos which should be Avenida NQS or Avenida Norte Quito Sur
Av Street 72 which should be Avenida Calle 72 or Avenida Chile
Autopista El Dorado which should be Avenida El Dorado
Av Street 24 which should be Avenida La Esperanza
They really made a multilingual botch of it

Google Maps application removal is a very customer-unfriendly move. I had come to use it as much or more than even my Navigon and TomTom apps. The Safari workaround is nice but it means location services have to be granted to Safari as a whole than just to the maps.

Even though the Google thing was personal with Steve Jobs, I'd like to believe that he would never have released an Apple map app until it was at least as good as, and preferably better than Google's. This is very disrespectful to Apple's customers.
