It's probably not a coincidence that Google rolled out another improvement to maps on Android yesterday, while Apple severely degraded maps on iOS.
Speculation is that Google is working on a maps app for iOS, but won't roll it out for six months in order to highlight the advantage of Android. They hadn't included full Android maps functionality in iOS before, so likely won't in the future.
Does Windows phone offer the same maps capability as Nokia had for symbian, including offline maps and directions? That was very good. Better than google offline, but not as google online.
