That's kinda how the TSA got fantastic marks in the Gallup polls, but an overwhelming two thumbs down from the FlyerTalk/Frequent Business Traveler polls...

If you go into the settings for the email account, account, outgoing mail server smtp ...

There's now settings for Primary Server and Other SMTP Servers. Are the "other smtp servers" all "off"?

The text under the "Other SMTP Servers" says "If Mail is unsuccessful using the primary server, it will try the other SMTP servers in succession."

That sounds like the behavior you are seeing, doesn't it? I think you want to turn all the other smtp servers to off in that mail account. Since I have several gmail accounts, they all appear to the same on that screen, but we know they aren't.

I will credit Apple that the 5->6 upgrade is much less painful than the 4->5 upgrade. I know several people who lost all their data during that upgrade. The issue was that the 5 upgrade wiped the device, so it did a backup before and a restore after. Unfortunately the restore would often fail. When you reconnected your device, iTunes would automatically back up the empty device, wiping out your previous backup.

The simplest and most meaningful verdict on iOS6 is the fact that since its release, Apple's mobile market share has fallen at the fastest rate in years. Albeit, the decline is still quite minor in absolute terms, but it coincides with Androids most rapid gain in years because Apple customers are fleeing in droves to Android. The kicker? Every iPhone and iPad release over the past few years has caused a weeks-long spike in iOS share and a decline in Android, but for the first time the iPhone5/iOS6 release has no impact whatsoever. Some blame it on supply issues, and they may be having an impact, but given the widespread discontent, I think it's more likely that Apple has jumped the shark. Because of the loss of Steve Jobs? Maybe. But very serious for Apple regardless of the cause.

iPhone users are not "fleeing" from anything. Keep up your silly lies, meanwhile 50 million happy iPhone 5 users will prove you wrong. You really do have an obsession with badmouthing Apple don't you.

Not fleeing in absolute terms; fleeing relative to Android only. Note the context of my previous post, then focus upon the latest quarter here and how it represents a substantial shift from earlier quarters where Apple performed almost on par with Android. Apple has lost very little share, but this is because their substantial losses to Android are being largely offset by their continued gains from RIM users. In other words, it's not the modest drop (which has happened before, then reversed) that is worrisome, it is the fact that it's the first time that they've diverged from Android so drastically during the same period. Furthermore, this occurs during a time where, based upon the historical effect of new iPhone/iPad releases, you'd expect them to be experiencing a substantial gain (if only temporary). Could it be supply issues driving the shift? Sure - and some hold that theory. But my internal numbers and the widespread discontent being reported in threads such as this (not just on FT) indicate otherwise to me. Please don't take my word for it - wait until the quarterly release in a few weeks - that should shed much more light upon the cause.

I don't know how many are fleeing, but a whole lot are very upset about IOS 6 bugs and battery issues on the iPhone 5. My current WAG is that Apple didn't study very well latest spin on the A6. It seems to be burning up the battery at a very high rate in comparison to the iPhone 4s and way, way worse than the chip in the iPhone 4.

These are basic QA issues and another WAG is that such a thing wouldn't have happened under Jobs.

Most of my family are on iPhone 4, a few on 4s, and very few on 5. With the exception of iPhone 5, all are still on iOS 5. iOS 6 doesn't seem to provide much over iOS 5 and my wife thinks it is a downgrade if it got rid of google map. She uses it all the time to check traffic (living in LA) and find things.

Turn by turn directions with iOS 6 are a nice upgrade. The similarities also to Mac OS X Mountain Lion make it all the more compelling if you have an iPhone, Ipad, and a Macbook.

All the cars have built in GPS. The only thing lacking is good traffic info updates. Both the BMW and Lexus don't seem to do a good job on traffic update in LA area. The google traffic is so accurate that I could tell which entrance to go back up to the freeway to avoid the traffic.

I asked my wife a few times if she wants to update to iOS 6 and she said no. And my old iPhone 3G can't update to anything.

Well- not ALL cars have built in GPS- many of the rentals I have had recently do not have a GPS at all (particularly AlfaRomeo and VW models I have seen absent of GPS)- and the ability to use my Ipad means I don't have to haul around the gear of an extra GPS.

Secondly- some of the maps in the cars are really outdated and are not easy to update. My car (although quite new) cannot even find my office nor my house accurately.

Oops, sorry. I meant to say "All the cars in the family have built in GPS".

Do you mount your iPad in your car? That's a big navigation device! One thing I love about the larger phone screens and smaller tablets is that, when mounted, they are akin to a Garmin but with much better data and images. If Apple fixes the iOS 6 map issue by providing detailed and accurate maps, live traffic, etc., then the upcoming Mini iPad could be used in this manner. It doesn't appear they will be doing this anytime soon, unfortunately. For now, phones like the S3 and tablets like the N7 are the best for in car nav. Even my older GNex works like a charm - super accurate, almost perfect.

I'm still waiting for them to fix the bugs in iOS 6 before I download it on my 4S.

Pretty sure the iPhone market is suffering, but I'm contented with my iPhones to not be bothered with the people I know who keeps shooting it down. Ugh, calm down with the ugly behaviour when comparing (the "muwaahaha you iPhone users are losers" talk).

Quick warning about personal attacks.

Attacking Apple = not a personal attack. Calling a member a troll = a personal attack.

I'll stop short of sending out PM's with warnings. Several posts have been cleaned up.
