Not fleeing in absolute terms; fleeing relative to Android only. Note the context of my previous post, then focus upon
the latest quarter here and how it represents a substantial shift from earlier quarters where Apple performed almost on par with Android. Apple has lost very little share, but this is because their substantial losses to Android are being largely offset by their continued gains from RIM users. In other words, it's not the modest drop (which has happened before, then reversed) that is worrisome, it is the fact that it's the first time that they've diverged from Android so drastically during the same period. Furthermore, this occurs during a time where, based upon the historical effect of new iPhone/iPad releases, you'd expect them to be experiencing a substantial gain (if only temporary). Could it be supply issues driving the shift? Sure - and some hold that theory. But my internal numbers and the widespread discontent being reported in threads such as this (not just on FT) indicate otherwise to me. Please don't take my word for it - wait until the quarterly release in a few weeks - that should shed much more light upon the cause.
