You guys know how reddit has basically engulfed the traditional forum structure?
there's a phenomenon where google search is so garbage nowdays where you'd google a question and append "xyz reddit" at the end so you can get more candid and succinct answers from what seemingly are real people
i do that with flyertalk!
"sheraton eau claires calgary flyertalk"
"air canada vdb compensation flyertalk"
and what happens when i get my own question answered? I click on the trending page to see what's new and notable on the board
at least that's what i used to do.
i was among the perfect organic traffic customers, i think

Funny thing is, in the automotive community they bemoan the death of forums due to Reddit and Facebook.
Whatever, I am just an old man yelling at clouds.

The trending page wasn't really a page, just a list of threads with a drop-down menu in which we could choose: trending, popular, or new (all three options resulted in nearly identical lists). As such, I'm not sure whether or not there was any available real estate that could have been used to provide an announcement and/or solicitation of our feedback.

I have always just used the New Posts link as my entry point. Seems like if something was "Trending", it would show up in the last ~24hrs of posts.

It might be interesting if this thread were linked to some of the more active forums and to see the response.

Sadly, I suspect this thread would have appeared on the trending page and would see more of a response if it did. I think the people showing up here are those who wanted to report the page not found error. And once those links are gone, very few new contributors will show up.

These two user flows serve(ed) essentially the same purpose, and I was/am fine with both.

I suppose its a case of who this site is for , is it the users , or people paid to maintain it.
I have certainly see nothing to suggest an improvement by this action, nor a reason to delate it.
Its also very unprofessional, the see all button should be removed if it does not work, or lead to a link explaining why it does not.
Its all normal marketing speak " I ve been if I can do this thousands of times and I keep telling people there is no demand " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please , simply put it back

I’m so disappointed about the demise of this thread. I am a daily user of FT but I often started with the trending thread bc took me off my blinders path. Learned great things about TK, for example, and flying them this year. Learned how I could get an upgrade at a hotel chain less frequented and it worked. That got more ads in my face, if that’s what FT is going for.

Here at FlyerTalk (FT), I seldom use the Trending page on my cell phone. It was dominated by BA, on which I have not flown since 1989, living on the opposite side of the world.
I am in favor of whatever helps FT stay efficient, maintain its existing information technology (IT) relationships, and save money.
Those concerned about search engine optimization (SEO) might consider using DuckDuckGo, which seems to return a reasonable number of FT answers to my queries.

So disappointed to see Trending Threads go! I discovered so much content through that link. Very sad.

For some reason, the trending page always was predominantly British Airways posts. I wondered if the algorithm was somehow off or just the folks in that sub are *that* much more active

if you’re active enough on other forums, just link this thread in your forum signature to drive more traffic to it

This clearly has engendered strong opinions.
But posts were trending incivility and personal attacks on IBJoel
A couple of such have been deleted.
Please stay on the side of civility going forward.

The British Airways | Executive Club forum is by far the most active forum on FlyerTalk; so the answer is the latter.

And that's the point, they were not "informative", for that you would go to the Forum you wanted and search/ask for an answer to a question you had. They were entertaining. And what's wrong with that? Why can't Flyertalk continue to be both?
