Also I don’t know what all the mention about SEO is, but having worked in the field, any SEO benefit from removing the page will be very minor. The loss of users (and their posts) will have a much greater negative impact on rankings long-term.

I'm guessing "new posts" has always been present in the mobile skin and I simply missed it because I became so accustomed to the trending page.
But, now that I've found it, I'm going to give it a test drive to see if I enjoy scrolling through new posts and choosing threads that appear interesting based on their titles and/or popular.

I'm not encouraging you to give up on you trending 2.0 concept by any means, because I liked it and a lot of others seem to be even more fond, but I'm quite content with new posts as a compromise myself.
ETA: A page I'd definitely like to see a link on is "my subscriptions"

Cancel my below request. dug a little deeper and found new posts. I agee with the below to provide a more prominent billing.l
I must be a little slow I spent several minutes trying to locate New Posts and couldnt on the mobile app. May someone please point me in the right direction. I went to individual threads and several other areas. no luck.
[QUOTE=moondog;36078892]IBJoel Assuming you guys are okay with keeping "new posts" around, please consider linking to it from more pages. The main reason I didn't notice it on mobile until a few days ago is because it is on thread pages only (i.e. and not on forum home pages or anywhere else, as far as I can tell). You might also want to consider giving it slightly more prominent billing, though this is less of an issue because after we get accustomed to scrolling down to find it, the process would be second nature.

Yet another vote to please bring back the trending posts. It was my go-to and I really miss the functionailty of being able to see what's hot across the whole of the FT community. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that I find the functionality of the 'new' FT to be <10% of what it was and I am visiting far less frequently as I can't face the prospect of trawling through tons of sub-fora to find the one post that I might be interested in reading.

Another vote to bring back trending discussions in one form or another, although my productivity has increased by orders of magnitude since the page was deactivated.

Having been an IT exec for decades this is a dynamic I've seen before.
-Radical change made to a familiar and well functioning user interface, not by consensus, but typically at the behest of a single strong willed individual.
-Skepticism is voiced by many who are overridden by dubious, but forcefully made and technically opaque reasons ("your common sense pales in the face of my technical expertise. ie, this will really improve SEO!")
-Change is universally loathed by everyone, advantages fail to materialize.
-Individual scrambles to salvage their erroneous decision ("everyone is wrong! this is wonderful!")
-revolt of the plebes and pressure builds
-changes are quietly undone, though damage is lasting

While BA is the most active forum, it dominance was far out sized in Trending Threads than its relative activity to the other forums. Believe the algorithm resets daily. My theory is the trending page resets early in the new day for the UK (midnight Calif?) (or after 24 hours of first appearing) and the UK posters being predominately BA, as their carrier of choice, got an early head-start on the other forums. So largest forum (but not that huge fraction of FT traffic) and early starter together yielded the results we saw, (BA generally being 50-80% of the trending threads). So the algorithm needed so tweaking, IMO

Over 2 weeks into the new regimen, and it is still sorely missed.
I think my FT engagement is down by at least 50%.

It's been a couple weeks now, I'm really curious if engagement is down overall. I know I've barely been to this site all week because my bookmark is Trending, and I can't find any interest in just browsing so when I get the "not found", I tend to just move to a different site.

In any event, I've moved on from reminiscing about the old trending page and am now looking forward to seeing (and opining on) its replacement.

Any feedback from FT management, ie not IT who are not invested in customer satisfaction ?
