Sorry about this; We just got out of a meeting and lo and behold, FlyerTalk (and WebFlyer) are pokey again.

John contacted our host facility just now and they let him know that there's another server (some other client) behind their router that's flooding their network and that they're working on it. We don't have an eta, though.

The last time this happened, they had the bad box taken care of within an hour. Hopefully they'll be as quick this time...

Sorry about this; thanks for your patience.

I presume this is the same add agency that has screwed up over and over in the past?

This is the kind of stuff that shows absentee management, even though I think Dan is keeping an eye on things. Try taking off the banners and see if things work better!

Actually this is a different agency that we've used in the past. We used to go with Engage, but they folded. We're with Perfect Circle, and although we've had banner problems, they're pretty good on replying and acting on issues quickly when I shoot them an email...

Everything is all nice and speedy again. Thanks for both the help and keeping us posted on what was going on!

cblaisd Jun 3, 2002 9:56 am

Very pokey again this morning for the 30-45 minutes.

dan at WebFlyer Jun 3, 2002 10:10 am

We're receiving a lot of traffic today, but John's keeping an eye on the server to see if it's something else...

BearX220 Jun 3, 2002 6:56 pm

I found FT very slow-loading and fitful today 9a-4p PT, but now it's picked right up and is positively zoomy...

cblaisd Jun 3, 2002 8:29 pm

Good word.

It's fitful right now for me. Sometimes fast, sometimes crawly.

timfucius Jun 4, 2002 10:22 pm

Same here. My tracert shows quite speedy responses, but the refresh rate on the pages on FT has been very slow lately!! I've never seen them this slow.

dan at WebFlyer Jun 5, 2002 9:45 am

John did some snooping and it looks like it's network congestion at our host's end...

cblaisd Jun 5, 2002 10:03 am

Slow again the last 1/2 hour.

blairvanhorn Jun 16, 2002 2:06 am

Slow loading pages (cybereps.com?)

Since yesterday FT has been very slow to load each page - it seems to be hanging when looking for oascentral.cybereps.com

It takes about a minute to load/change pages right now anywhere in FT (even to post this).

I am on a Mac (OS 9.2) using I.E. 5.01

Anyone else?

dan at WebFlyer Jun 17, 2002 9:14 am

I'll contact our ad folks with your message...

How are the pages serving for you currently?

blairvanhorn Jun 17, 2002 9:23 am

Hi, Dan - thanks. It's very spotty and has been for the last few days. Right now it's working very well, but today I've already had the same problem three times.

Another site/page (?) that seems to slow it down:

RealMedia/ads/adstream_jx.ads/flyertalk.com/ros/@Top1,Right3!Top1

ozstamps Jun 17, 2002 5:32 pm

Concur with Blair that a lot of page changes "hang" much longer than usual. Standard PC set up here, but last 12 hours has been definitely "slower" than is normal lately.

cblaisd Jun 18, 2002 9:03 am

Running very fitfully slow this morning.

RSSrsvp Jun 18, 2002 12:30 pm

Very slow this afternoon!

ozstamps Jun 18, 2002 2:01 pm

If I click on a thread - it opens, but "hangs" for 20 seconds or so until the body of the thread displays. If that makes sense. ie the page and header (and AD!) open and then just "hang" each time. Been like that a few days.

This seems to be happening now...time 10:45PM Central Texas time.

At 8:19 AM EDT, the board started flying again! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Were you doing some maintenance that corrected the problem? It was a major improvement.

phoenixitc Jun 19, 2002 8:03 am

Yup... does feel faster but UA's board has gone non-responsive, or is it just me?

Response time is pretty peppy for me, but I'll third that the UAL board is a no-show.

dan at WebFlyer Jun 19, 2002 10:02 am

We haven't done anything maintenance-wise, but I'll go in and rebuild the UAL forum again and look for any corrupted postings.

UNITED is so VERY slow today, however! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

doc Jun 19, 2002 11:05 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The United Forum has started freezing up again, so we'll be taking it down for maintenance today (June 19th). It should be back up later this afteroon.
Thank you for your patience.

dan at WebFlyer Jun 19, 2002 2:47 pm

Updated the United Forum and turned it back on again and it seems quicker to me at this end.

It's pruning time again, especially for that forum, so we'll be turning off FT Miles Friday to prune off older United threads into Archive. This _should_ streamline United's performance for a while at least...

Check the Announcements for more info on the closure...

Message Board Access Very Slow

Am having a terrible time accessing the FT message boards tis evening. Am connecting with broadband and have verified I am connecting at 1.3mbs. This is the only internet site I'm having problems with. Its taking forever to open one forums topics. Anyone else having this problem tonight??

cblaisd Dec 17, 2002 11:13 pm

Was having the same problem most of the afternoon and into early evening. Speed seems back to normal now. (Also on broadband here)

RobertS975 Dec 18, 2002 4:53 am

F.T slow or just me

Are the boards slow toady or is it just my end. some topics load fast, others, like molassas?

Kremmen Jan 8, 2003 6:27 pm

It's not just you. ... very slow today.

haole Jan 8, 2003 6:56 pm

thanks, I dont, feel as though it was just me....

mymiles2go Jan 8, 2003 7:18 pm

Must.....go.......faster......

cblaisd Jan 8, 2003 7:47 pm

Very slow tonight (I'm on DSL). Seems slowest when trying to enter a new forum, next slowest when replying to a message, and least slow when clicking on a topic within a forum

Plato90s Jan 9, 2003 7:48 am

I thought archiving was suppose to speed up the site?

Besides being slow, the bigger the forum - the slower it is. AA is the slowest, followed by UA.

JIMCHI Jan 9, 2003 8:18 am

STILL slow this morning. In fact I can't even open the AA board. It seems like the more messages a board has, the more difficult to open.
