We haven't noticed any continued slowness on this end, but we'll keep an eye out.

ozstamps Oct 4, 2003 12:37 am

Mah Mama sayed I wus jus born slow. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Randy Petersen Oct 8, 2003 8:57 am

Truly, I don't think we've seen an outpour of complaints of the speed for the days you mention. Also, FT and SSM are on two different servers so any connection between the two for speed really is strange. But as Dan says (and it is part of his job) he/we will look into it.

Thanks for the note.

BlondeBomber Nov 1, 2003 3:17 pm

Slow?

FT seems to be quite sluggish. I am using a T1 line and it has sometimes taken minutes for pages to load over last couple of days. Sometimes it is OK but mostly it seems slow.

Anyone else experiencing this? Related to corrupt threads?

I haven't noticed anything here at the office.

Slow loading pages

FT is moving at a snail's pace today. It is taking forever for the pages to load. I am not experiencing this on any other website that I view.

airbus320 Nov 15, 2003 10:08 am

Me too. This is way I came here to peruse the thread to make sure it is not my computer or my ISP.

MisterNice Nov 15, 2003 10:38 am

FT is the slowest site I log on to anymore . The speed does not vary with the ISP or whatever the computer is, ie it is slow.

Also I havent seen a "lightbulb" or whatever the indicater for visited threads in weeks. And the date/time last visited aint working for me.

I think it is time FT thanged the "D" cell batteries (both of them) or switch to the nice alkaline ones, from the cheap carbon/zinc "heavy duty" crap.

It's the ads that slow things down. FlyerTalk itself is fine.

MisterNice Nov 15, 2003 6:40 pm

Cant be the ads. I block every one of them using Opera and ZA (ie itsa religious issue).

RSSrsvp Nov 15, 2003 10:00 pm

It was fine for me all week. This started on Friday night.

RS Nov 15, 2003 11:42 pm

This just started tonight. Mine has slowed to less than a crawl. I am currently using Remote Access to my office computer and using FT that way.

I did the latest Windows XP update this afternoon, although I used FT after that it seemed ok then. This is not good. The last time this happened I literally had to wipe out my hard disk and reload everything to get FT to run properly. Help!!!

dan at WebFlyer Nov 19, 2003 11:08 am

Yeah, we caught Travel slowing down so John rebooted the server...

ScottC Dec 1, 2003 2:21 pm

gleff Dec 1, 2003 2:54 pm

at first i thought it was my internet connection, but all other websites act normally.

MeLike2Travel Dec 1, 2003 3:11 pm

Slow for me as well. I can't even access MileageRun or CouponConnection.

OttoGraham Dec 1, 2003 3:31 pm

Could FT be groaning under the combined weight of our 36,000 posts?

boilermaker Dec 1, 2003 3:44 pm

OMNI doesn't even show up.

No OMNI for me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

How am I supposed to work?

Looks that way to me, too.

Slow connections I can deal with. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

jfe Dec 1, 2003 3:47 pm

OMNI is gone http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

jmartin Dec 1, 2003 3:50 pm

Two pretty good stories I was all set to post in OMNI (posted here anyway in case you want to read them):

NEW YORK (AP) — It's called the Segway Human Transporter, but the Pentagon is drafting the two-wheeled scooter as part of a plan to develop battlefield robots that think on their own and communicate with troops.

AND

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -- The state fire marshal has put a freeze on construction of an ice hotel near Fairbanks, but the man behind the subarctic architecture is still chipping away.

Ginger K Dec 1, 2003 4:02 pm

Right, no Travelbuzz either. I also thought it was my computer!

Tim at WebFlyer Dec 1, 2003 4:15 pm

BlondeBomber Dec 2, 2003 8:21 am

excruciatingly slooooooooooooooooow now.

All other sites OK

BlondeBomber Dec 2, 2003 8:33 am

seems OK again!

ScottC Dec 4, 2003 9:25 am

Omni down again?

dan at WebFlyer Dec 4, 2003 9:37 am

It looks like there are a few corrupted/lost threads in TravelBuzz, but none in OMNI, so I'm rebuilding that forum to see if it helps any.

RobotDoctor Dec 4, 2003 10:05 am

Dan,

Is there a possibility that OMNI is reaching a threashold regarding total post counts causing the recent problems associated with the forum?

dan at WebFlyer Dec 4, 2003 10:25 am

Yeah, that's probably what's happening... some of the forums have a lot of posts/activity, which causes the server to bog down occasionally... that slowdown then can cause file problems which lead to corruptions.
