Thanks for fixing it up. :)

bostonbali Sep 22, 2004 8:47 pm

With FT down/slow, I actually had to do something I really hate doing today... work with no goof-offs! (I too had to check other sites to make sure that it wasn't my machine that was slow but, in fact, FT...) Get well soon, Flyertalk!

airbus320 Sep 23, 2004 5:11 am

It is early morning and I need my FT fix....

It is still slow...

Get well soon FT. :)

FightingIlliniUAL Sep 23, 2004 9:06 am

Seems as if its back to full strength, good job fellas!

Along with the slow response, I'm getting erratic multiple responses to threads - 8 for one post by missydarling for example, and 3 notifications each for a couple of other posts.

Have not had this problem whatever until 3 minutes ago when I got TEN identical notifications to a new post here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...5&goto=newpost

FT has also been incredibly slow for me too John FWIW, including the past few hours. Where it has been slower than ever, so VERY surprised to read the post before mine?

But seems like you are on top of rectifying things. Thanks. ^

ILuvParis Sep 23, 2004 10:24 am

Very slow, to the extent that I frequently get the "website not available" message.

myefre Sep 23, 2004 10:47 am

Still slow here. :( :( :( :( :(

SanDiego1K Sep 23, 2004 11:34 am

Poor performance in San Diego

Performance is erratic. Some threads are loading quickly now, and they weren't 2 hours ago. Yet this thread took 5 minutes to load - ironic.

Sorry, John. :(

thezipper Sep 23, 2004 11:36 am

... very slow here... getting timeouts during postings that are taking ~2 min as I watch the blue progress bar inch along on the bottim of my screen... are the 500 people in chat tonight gonna blow up FT?

CApreppie Sep 23, 2004 1:24 pm

Definitely erratic, sometimes things load quickly and sometimes they don't load at all. It all went downhill after that maintenance. I'm feeling the symptoms of FT withdrawal coming on....

FWAAA Sep 23, 2004 1:58 pm

Whatever you guys did to it - you broke it. :(

Very slow most of yesterday, with short bursts of normal response/load times. Very slow/timed out/completely broken most of today. :(

Murphy's Law concerning mid-week maintenance or repairs to websites or LANs: It will always be several days before the damage caused by the "scheduled downtime" is repaired. :)

Seriously, though, I realize that you are probably hard at work repairing it as I type - just hope it is fixed in time for the slow Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning timeframes.

Good luck, FlyerTalk guys. :)

OttoGraham Sep 23, 2004 2:41 pm

Ditto what FWAAA says.

CPRich Sep 23, 2004 3:36 pm

Still long delays and an occaisional "There seems to have been a slight problem with the FlyerTalk Forums database." at 5:30pEDT.

Is there a DBA in the house?

Kiwi Flyer Sep 23, 2004 3:49 pm

More than just occasional for me. I am sure the techies are working on it as quickly as possible.

Should FT actually be shut down if it will speed up their efforts?

magexpect Sep 23, 2004 5:02 pm

Hello, it is 1AM Swiss time and still VERY slow. Does not really matter, just wanted to inform. Keep the good job.

robmach Sep 23, 2004 5:40 pm

suuuuuuuuperslow

magiciansampras Sep 23, 2004 6:06 pm

Very sporadic. Some pages load faster than I can say "Mileage Run," others load so slowly I could DO a mileage run...

wharvey Sep 23, 2004 6:07 pm

Just to echo many others... extremely slow for posts to open... taking more than 5 minutes to load... and I am on a cable modem.

Make the java chat delays pale in comparison.

HHHmmmm... what will I do now? :)

William

John at Webflyer Sep 23, 2004 6:13 pm

Go to the chat -- we have that fixed. ;)

We'll be taking the rebuilt database server back into service tomorrow morning -- so look for a return to normal then.

Just hang on a little bit longer. :D

Thanks John ^ - appreciate the efforts and looking forward to things getting back to normal.

Ditto. ^

(And I promise to only post this once.) ;)

Leftover Meatloaf Sep 23, 2004 8:11 pm

Yeppers... slow until about 2 minutes ago, then I got through the 3 pages of this thread pretty quick.

jan_az Sep 23, 2004 9:42 pm

still slow here

PremEx Sep 23, 2004 11:34 pm

However, the FlyerTalk down "Announcement" now indicates that FlyerTalk will be down most of tomorrow (Friday).

myefre Sep 24, 2004 1:03 am

Hopefully then it will be really great afterwards and no more on again off again speed issues like even before the first shutdown. :)

GoingAway Sep 24, 2004 6:48 am

Good luck with the switchover today.

Thanks again for your time and effort supporting the site!!

steve100 Sep 24, 2004 11:41 am

I think that it is fully back up and working...

Thanks John and everybody at WebFlyer!

FWAAA Sep 24, 2004 11:44 am

Working again but not as fast as before the Wednesday activity.

Anyway - thanks for all you guys do. :)

In case you haven't noticed we usually overestimate downtime -- just in case.

And a big ^ for getting us back online so quickly today. THANK YOU FT IT team!

Leumas Sep 24, 2004 1:43 pm

Just another 'thank you' for the great work! ^

magexpect Sep 24, 2004 3:35 pm

Again from Switzerland, everything back to normal. A great Thank you to all the technicians ^ ^ ^

longing4piedmont Oct 6, 2004 6:59 pm

Slow again

Very slow. This page took aver two minutes to load. Other sites load immediately when launched. BTW I'm on a cable modem at 3meg.

It's not just slow, it's painfully slow. It happened quite abruptly about 30 minutes ago.

PremEx Oct 6, 2004 7:29 pm

Crawlin' here too. :(

Here too. Been bad for 1-2 hours or so. Got worse in last hour.

It must be all that political traffic in OMNI.

What?

Oh..... Nevermind.
