No doubt one of the two boxes blew a fuse again and John or Dan will be updating us by the morning. :)

FightingIlliniUAL Oct 6, 2004 9:21 pm

So slow, but its ok... Go Red Sox!

magiciansampras Oct 6, 2004 9:41 pm

Real slow here, circa 11:40PM. Go Red Sox!

Rudi Oct 6, 2004 11:13 pm

slow, even to/from Switzerland.

I guess the board misses the OMNi drive ...

airbus320 Oct 7, 2004 5:52 am

...still slow loading.

Flyingmama Oct 7, 2004 7:09 am

. . . . v e r y s l o w t h i s m o r n i n g. W h a t ' s w r o n g n o w ?

boilermaker Oct 7, 2004 8:32 am

The site was slow yesterday afternoon, but I thought it was my server, as many sites were slow. Today, all other sites load quickly, while FT seems like dial-up (the page still hasn't finished loading, and I'm finished typing).

longing4piedmont Oct 7, 2004 9:22 am

It's back up to speed

What ever it was it's fixed now. Thanks

Doppy Oct 7, 2004 3:35 pm

Been slow for me off and on since yesterday. So much for the "OMNI causes all of our problems" line. ;)

John at Webflyer Oct 7, 2004 3:43 pm

Well the servers are running OK, but things seem slow to us too. May be some network issues at the data center. We'll check into it.

Thanks,
John

PremEx Oct 7, 2004 4:01 pm

Yeah...was super slow there for about 20 minutes, but has now picked up to normal again.

Cholula Oct 8, 2004 12:22 am

John, it was up and running pretty good this afternoon and early this evening. Unfortunately, FT seems down for the count once again as of 10 PM or so Pacific time.

Traveller Oct 8, 2004 12:38 am

It just speeded up for me, had been slow for about an hour.

cblaisd Oct 8, 2004 12:43 am

Ditto here (Hawaii) for what the last two posters said.

PremEx Oct 8, 2004 12:27 pm

Crawlin again now. :(

studentff Oct 8, 2004 12:47 pm

Crawling here too again. Both at home (DSL routing through Indianapolis alter.net, Denver alter.net) and on campus (T3+ routing through Chicago level3.net, Denver level3.net). So it's almost certainly not a routing/backbone problem.

Kiwi Flyer Oct 8, 2004 12:49 pm

FT wasnt slow for me yesterday but it sure is today :(

airbus320 Oct 8, 2004 1:24 pm

I also am having problems with speed.

cblaisd Oct 8, 2004 1:53 pm

Sloooooooooooooooow

FWAAA Oct 8, 2004 1:56 pm

Slower than slow for the last couple of hours. Everything else (other than FlyerTalk) is lightening fast, so it isn't on my end.

If OMNI had been kept this slow, there's no way anyone would have had the patience to engage in flame wars and post inappropriate material, and it might still be with us. :)

Good luck fixin it, FT guys. :)

dan at WebFlyer Oct 8, 2004 2:09 pm

John's working with our network center to determine the problem and get things smoothed out.

Traveller Oct 8, 2004 2:41 pm

Thanks for trying to fix it before the weekend, sometimes when this happens on late Friday night or Saturday, it's Monday before it can get fixed....

BTW, this is the slowest I've ever seen FT but that United pop-up ad was lightning fast. :p

gfowler-ord-1k Oct 8, 2004 5:00 pm

Looking good now

JIMCHI Oct 9, 2004 9:44 am

It is slow again this morning, taking about 30 seconds to load a page. It seemed OK late last night.

kcvt750 Oct 9, 2004 10:19 am

Crawling here too @ 1220 edt. Plus, it's taking multiple clicks on links before they respond.

work2fly Oct 9, 2004 10:23 am

Dan:

If you're serious about being up and running 24/7/365, perhaps a change is in order.

www.365inc.net

My company owns this data center - I'll do whatever I can to help FT...

PremEx Oct 9, 2004 11:06 am

Still a bit sluggish right now. Not as bad as a few times the last 2 days, but still sluggish.

wharvey Oct 9, 2004 12:43 pm

ZZZZzzzzzz.....

The only thing slower is the scoring in the Texas-Oklahoma football game! :)

William

blackjack-21 Oct 9, 2004 3:21 pm

Seems to be running a bit faster for me now.

bj-21.

magiciansampras Oct 9, 2004 3:37 pm

Still pretty crappy for me. What's annoying is that the ads still load incredibly fast...

Slow openings and Posting Problems

Opening anything takes over 30 sec, sending a post takes over 60 sec, and after the post is received, I get the "this page cannot be displayed" notice.

it is 13:15gmt, I have a decent machine, and a 3meg dl, and a 512K ul that usually run at about 60% of rated speed.

Edited to state:

This post went in quickly, and returned me to the correct place.

Ocn Vw 1K Dec 9, 2004 2:57 pm

I've also noted intermittently slow loading of FT pages over the past few days.

PremEx Dec 9, 2004 5:14 pm

Occasionally for me over the last 2 days (and happening to me right now), I'll be sailing along just fine during a session and then I click on a link and it just seems to stall for about 45-60 seconds. Even if I click on other links. It's like Run 4 min/Stall 1 min/Run 4 min/Stall 1 min, on and on. Very erratic.

Same here.

John at Webflyer Dec 10, 2004 1:44 pm

How has it been today?

Not seeing anything like that here.

John

Kiwi Flyer Dec 10, 2004 1:55 pm

Yesterday I was intermittently slow on FT but going fine today. :)

Ocn Vw 1K Dec 10, 2004 2:02 pm

Agree with Kiwi Flyer: fast on all site functions today! Congratulations.

PremEx Dec 10, 2004 4:52 pm

It was stalling again about 2 hours ago, but seems to be fine right now.

Cholula Dec 10, 2004 10:17 pm

I'm running a state of the art G-5 Mac with DSL, 2 Gigs of memory and twin 1 Gig processors. And I've seen very sloooooow processing times over the last few days.....including tonight. Sometimes the pages open quickly but more times than not I find a 20-30 second wait for a page to open.
Something appears to be amiss.
Just an FYI.....

ozstamps Dec 13, 2004 3:52 pm

INCREDIBLY slow for me on all forums for past 12 hours or so. :td:

Other sites I visit in same session fly at usual speed.

Definitely a problem with access speed it seems to me?
