Nope that was is just as bad. Here's looking forward to a great Monday. Maybe with so many FT's out there we can locate some new servers or maybe just additional ones if that is the problem.

cblaisd Aug 22, 2004 10:36 pm

Sorry, Rudi, but that server is just as slow, maybe slower.

:)

the link I posted above is helping people who can't access at all - it's the only server right now that works.

It's the only and same server everyone is right now connected to, so it is exactly (100%) as slow, I did never pretend anything else.

Again, one out of normally 2 servers is down, and that's probably not only the reason why some people can't get any connection (because their browser, like mine, automatically tries to get connections with the server that is down), but also the reason why it is so slow for anyone else.

I am still confident, that the tech folks at FlyerTalk can fix this fast, once they are back from their well deserved weekend.

John at Webflyer Aug 23, 2004 8:38 am

One of the servers seems to really dislike the scripts that rotate the logs -- which has caused this latest hiccup -- sorry for the inconvenience it caused you all!

I've disabled the script in question until I can resolve whatever the problem is.

Thanks,
John

Yes, super slow indeed. Worried that it was just my connection.

boilermaker Sep 3, 2004 8:52 am

Reminds me of the old dial-up days on a 9600 baud modem

cblaisd Sep 3, 2004 9:54 am

Ditto here. Virtually unusable.

Tim at WebFlyer Sep 3, 2004 10:40 am

Hello there all. We are working on this now. Thanks for the heads up.

studentff Sep 3, 2004 10:44 am

Virtually unusable here too.

Response time has been slowly degrading for me over a few days, but this morning it has taken a dramatic nose dive. Took at least 7 minutes to get to this forum and make this post.

FightingIlliniUAL Sep 3, 2004 10:54 am

I am glad this is a website event and not something having to do with my computer or network! Couldnt we have picked another day to be slow? Today is a very very slow day at work :(

jfe Sep 3, 2004 10:54 am

Speed has improved :)^

Thanks, Tim. You're satisfying my FT addiction again.

More productive because we wouldn't be wasting time here. ;)

PremEx Sep 5, 2004 5:20 pm

Been crawling for me the last 10 minutes, so I don't know if the fix lasted that long.

Kiwi Flyer Sep 5, 2004 5:28 pm

Also slower than normal for me too.

It's always slow for you, isn't it ;)

Seems OK to me on this end

Kiwi Flyer Sep 5, 2004 5:44 pm

I did say slower than normal. Anyway its much better now so not sure what happened.

wharvey Sep 5, 2004 6:05 pm

Kiwi Flyer,

It was not just you... for about 20 minutes it was taking forever to load pages....

Now it is working fine.

Wouldn't that be the same as no connection then. :p

FT slow since today's scheduled maintenance?

I am finding FT slow since coming back online this afternoon.

Anyone else??

ScottC Sep 22, 2004 5:05 pm

Same here, almost impossible to browse...

jg2411 Sep 22, 2004 5:08 pm

It is Super Slow.

It's been super slow for me. I timed how long it took to get to the reply screen after hitting reply - 45 seconds. To get new posts took 97.18 seconds.

I checked other sites to make sure it wasn't my DSL; it isn't. FT is my only slow site.

Only advantage: I've gotten work done vs. reading FT.

It's been horrible all day

It has been horrible all day. Like, go get a cup of coffee and start drinking it slow since this morning. Over 1 minute for each window to refresh. They need to fix this ... and quick!

It's slow here too... :(

John at Webflyer Sep 22, 2004 6:07 pm

It is slow -- and this is temporary.

We had to take one of the servers that supports flyertalk out of service for emergency maintenance and replace it with a machine that is not optimal for flyertalk's traffic. I'll be rebuilding the server in question tomorrow and will get it back into service as soon as possible.

Please bear with us and thanks for your patience.

John

SanDiego1K Sep 22, 2004 6:19 pm

Thanks for the update, John, and sorry about the overnight work. :(

Along with the slow response, I'm getting erratic multiple responses to threads - 8 for one post by missydarling for example, and 3 notifications each for a couple of other posts.

Kiwi Flyer Sep 22, 2004 6:24 pm

Thanks for getting FT back on early, and thanks for the update John ^

I dont know what we'd do without your (and everyone else at HOM) hard work :)

Thanks John! :)

No problem! ;)

If I am notmistaken, CSI-NY is on tonight! :D

Thanks again! :)

John at Webflyer Sep 22, 2004 7:35 pm

We're looking into that -- no solution yet, unfortunately.
