Yep, though it was consistently nearly unusable @ various other times (today, though also during a period of time yesterday).

Extremely slow here, too - using a cable modem which is usually very fast.

rcs85551 Jul 11, 2001 11:52 pm

Hmmm. Last night (here in Germany, so that's around 3-6pm EST) was the first time since the new FT stated that I had problems with the speed. Seems like this depends on the time of the day.... no speed problems anymore.

FewMiles Jul 12, 2001 12:46 pm

Board slow, can't access AA forum

Hi tech ppl, the board is really slow again today and I haven't been able to access the AA forum all morning.

How can we tune in if the board is broken/slow?

Please fix ASAP. Problems exist in all forums.

Sounds like dejavu of the last AA chat!

badgerfan Jul 12, 2001 3:58 pm

Everything is a bit slow... but I can get into everything (eventually) except for the American Airlines board... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

same problem here a well...

SuperSlug Jul 12, 2001 4:28 pm

Actually, the other forums (fora?) seem to be OK--just Miles that's realllllllllllly slow.

The AA board's still not working and Chemel's chatting tonight. Glad I'm not a conspiracy theorist...

Tech folks, any word on what's wrong?

AAExecPlatFlier Jul 12, 2001 4:46 pm

Everything is slow!!!!

Can't get into AA....but I can get into AirTran (then again, why would we want to get into AirTran???)

Hope this is only temporary!!!

Island Jul 12, 2001 5:29 pm

Ive been in 8 or 10 forums okay, except all are crawling. But the AAdvantage forum has a flat tire and is not running at all. Did sign into the chat room okay.

Wishing everyone good luck tonight

ChanelCinq Jul 12, 2001 7:38 pm

Randy nFT seams really slow. I have a cable modem at home and a T3 at work. Some days are worse than others. Today was/is so slow I didn't have the patients to check the board at work today. I tried several times and gave up. At home it is still moving at a snails pace. Are you guys still adding to the board and that is slowing it down?

Also I have tried searching a few times and 50% of the time I am timed out.

Shareholder Jul 12, 2001 8:04 pm

Also using cable modem, and today was as slow as those awful periods last year. Several searches just timed out. And during the Chat things were also extremely slow, then virtually froze towards the end. After nothing appeared for 5-minutes, I dropped off at about 9:50 pm.

HungryTraveler Jul 12, 2001 10:07 pm

The whole system is still running Slowwwwwwwwwww!!!

The AA board is dead.

It would take Randy's top tech just three minutes to get on this board and post a response. Nothing posted for nearly ELEVEN hours.

I thought Randy promised us better customer service and support, with the new software. I think Randy needs to ask for his money back from the vendor.

I manage software vendors and the IT operations for a midsize firm. I would be fired if I failed to respond to my user community.

Is it too hard to spend three minutes and draft a short note to the user community?

What am I missing here?

doc Jul 13, 2001 6:22 am

All appears well to me this morning! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

FewMiles Jul 13, 2001 9:24 am

HungryTraveler: Easy there, my friend!

What you are missing, IMHO, is that one cannot always see what is going on behind the scenes. You are right that maybe they should have posted a note that they were working on the problem. Hey, I'd like to be kept informed too.

FWIW, the tech guys had been aware of the problem for most of the day. During the live chat last night, I took the opportunity to ask one of them about it and he said that they've been trying to figure it out for most of the day. Last night, in fact, they took down the entire FT Miles board for a while to service just the AA forum.

Slow all week for me, especially opening threads. The only real change I notice with the "new deal" is its harder on the eyes with all this white, and m-u-c-h- slower, and crummy looking smilies now.

That's progress? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

amazing nj Jul 13, 2001 9:30 pm

well, it seems better tonight...

siliconengineer Jul 13, 2001 11:26 pm

Also experienced the system to be very slow all week with my cable modem connection until tonight.

Could it be speed was also enhanced during last night's downtime to fix the AA forum?

doc Jul 25, 2001 12:25 pm

VERY slow again today, as it seemed to "bog down" at about 1:30pm EST! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

doc Jul 25, 2001 12:28 pm

Same story today, sadly! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

SuperSlug Jul 25, 2001 5:40 pm

Okay! Okay! I confess! I admit it! I clicked on a MoreMiles link in The Buzz! today just to see what the hubbub was all about.

And now I can't access my favorite forum (AA)? Like I've said before, I'm not a big believer in coincidences! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Seriously, though: tech folks, perhaps some news/an update on what's going on?

Nobbi Jul 25, 2001 5:47 pm

Can't access the UA forum!

Other boards very slow!

Nobbi

AAExecPlatFlier Jul 25, 2001 6:17 pm

How about a reply from Tech on the AA Forum and the overall slowness??

Thanks!

bp888 Jul 25, 2001 7:28 pm

Again, what was wrong with the old FT?

ILTE_Miles Jul 25, 2001 7:45 pm

THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!

I have something critical I need to find, and accessing--let alone navigating (forget searching)--has been at a glacial pace. I'm screwed...

Will SOMEONE please comment on an ETA re: when performance will be back to what we're accustomed? I don't know whether I should just give up for the night, or what...

SuperSlug Jul 25, 2001 8:11 pm

Wow, ILTE, you must be going nuts if you're posting in straight prose... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Really, how long does it take to type in, "We know. We're working on it. Go to bed, everyone," or something like that?

avgas Jul 25, 2001 9:21 pm

Again, what was wrong with the old FT?

Aaaah, one of the most subtle posts of the year that one BP888. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Has the irony dawned on anyone that the ONLY two airline boards graced with our new "must have for your own good" MODERATORS are the only two down? Very Freudian I think. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Tried a bight idea to check at least hot threads by trying to click onto this in main Forum index page:

Click Here To View Today's Active Topics (all public forums)

Zippo .. that does not work either for me. Anyone esle get that one to work?

And back to "normal" again this morning - for those keeping score! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

BUT... Now it has once again bogged down - so much so that it's nearly impossible to get into the UA or AA fora! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

bollar Jul 26, 2001 11:16 am

Maybe aa.com has rubbed off on FlyerTalk. The AA forum is not responding again, after the brief uptime overnight.

AAExecPlatFlier Jul 26, 2001 11:57 am

Does anyone from FlyerTalk Technical ever post a status/answer questions on what is going on with the site and why the AA Forum is down? Or are we in the web version of voicemail jail?

PING and TRACERT show good network speed so I suspect it's the server/app. Howsabout rebooting da server! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

extremely slow -ver the past 3 days esp in afternoon PST - I haven;t read any forums in 3 days so my fix is starting to wear thin. HELP!

BigKing Jul 26, 2001 6:46 pm

Until the ridiculous 20 partners contest is over at AA, there will be nothing worth reading on the AA forum anyway for those of us more moderate mile collectors.
