I just came back from DAR in a new 330-300. The new F seat is great. Privacy, wide fairly flat bed. I still like the CX seat better, but this is number 2 on my list (better than the new SQ F, better than ANA, LH and many others).

I was somewhat surprised about the new C seat. It seems to be very, very narrow. Comparing the new seatmaps of the two variants of the 340 conforms this. The old config has 36 seats in 6 rows and 6 eco rows in the second compartment. The new config also has 36 seats, but one row of eco less.
So the floorspace for each seat is only around 5 % more for the new seat compared to the old one.
Considering that the length of the seat went from 1.5 m to 2 m the seat must be around 15-20% narrower than the old seats.

It seams there is only one good seat every second row (the single seat A in the even rows).
It looks like it is almost impossible to get in and out from the A seats in the odd rows. People in the aisle seats had part of their body in the aisle, since the seat is so narrow.
I am surprised that Swiss opted for 4.5 seats per row. ANA and Asiana have only 4 seats per row in the significantly wider 777.

Here is a link to the new Asiana Seat:
https://flyasiana.com/sub/news/view....ge=1&cidx=1405

4 across in a 777 (which usually has 9 seats across in ECO instead of 8 on the 330/340). So it looks like the seat is almost 20 % wider.

I believe the new C seat on Swiss is an improvement over the old 330 seats.
But then it seems that other new seats are significantly better.

OK, just come up against the mad-as-a-hatter seat blocking policy in F on the A340!

1K and 2A are shown as blocked on the seatmap, but I can't get reservations to put me into either of them (I know 1K is a facility seat, and am aware of the small risk of being bumped from it, but isn't 2A supposed to be blocked for SEN/HON/Equiv?)

Has anyone had any luck getting the block lifted as *G? (in this case, rather annoyingly, BD*G, which is going to become SEN in the very near future, now that LH owns BD!).

I've had no problems in similar cases with LH, who seem happy to lift the SEN blocks on, e.g. 83A,C for *G.

If not, since I'm on a connecting flight, what is my best approach to try to snag a window seat in F on this flight?

Ken.

Willard the Bear - Whilst I'm attracted to the idea of getting a whole LX-F seat to myself in 1D,G, I'd prefer to stick to my usual position on the ottoman, and be able to look out of the window!

Call LX. Most likely they will unblock a ("facility-")seat for you - with the comment that there is a small risk for being reseated if necessary.

Sadly, I'd already tried that, not only would they not unblock 1K for me (allegedly, "supervisor says NO"), they also advised me that 2A was occupied, when the seat maps clearly show it as unoccupied, but blocked.

Sounds like they've borrowed the seat blocking algorithm from BA, though, to be fair, even BA only blocks 2 out of 14 seats for Gold/Prem (14%), not 4 out of 8 (50%!).

Since the call-centre has already said no, I guess an E-Mailed request would be my only other option...

Ken.

Willard the Bear - ...and Swiss used to be so nice to me! (overheard on my first Swiss F flight: Kaptain! Wir hat ein andere passagier, er Heisst "Willard")

Hi all!

new poster to the forum who is considering flying with Swiss to SFO, and hopefully you can help me.

Will be flying in economy and have some questions regarding the seating.
On some sites it states that the forward eco section of their A343 might have slightly more legroom than the rear section.
Can anyone confirm this?
How are the seats and pitch on their A343 compared to LH A346?

Thanks for helping!

A319 London - Zurich Exit Row

2 questions:

1) Is the Exit Row #10?

2) Is there more legroom

I have searched for about 1 hour looking for the SFO-ZRH seatmap new configuration. Nobody has it. It's amazing. You were the only person to have this seatmap! I was able to secure a great seat with your help. Thank you!

You are very welcome. :)

Seatmaps of Swiss aircrafts can be found by following:
www.swiss.com - About SWISS - Our Company - Fleet, then by clicking on the aircraft type.

A seatmap of the A343 with new Business seats is at:

Which side of the plane is best for a single passenger?

Do you know which is better, the left or right? I know that on the left, there is a table on the right and on the left of you. However, you're father from the window to see, but you have more space.

If you sit on the right side of the plane, you only have 1 table, but you can be close to the window. Do you know which side is better (for instance 4A vs 4k)?

I wish I knew the answer but I'm still waiting for LX to start flying the 343 with new Business seats to NRT. LX seems to think the single seats on the left (4A, 6A, etc.) are better because I remember reading somewhere that these seats are blocked for M&M status pax.

I might personally go for 5K or 7K.

Economy ZRH-JFK A333 bulkhead seats 23J-K

Hi FT,

I'll be flying economy to new york on the new 333. So on seatguru it says 23j-k doesn't have a lot of legroom. But as it's a new plane (layout) I thought to check. Has anyone been on or seen 23j-k? or any recommendations for 2 people on economy? (yes besides upgrade to business :p )

Thanks,

Bege
