ExpertFlyer return error too.
is it just me?

I sorted it. Neither the App nor the Website were able to display the 777-300ER map (but other aircraft were fine). I sent an online message to Technical and they fixed it yesterday. Now all my 777 seat maps are loading properly and I can choose the seat online.

Thank you, I see it is working now.

Pretty disappointed with Swiss and their seat reservation fees - and how they apply those rules, especially to *G pax.

Wife flew in on a light eco ticket within Europe, with a transfer at ZRH. Booking the flights I (foolishly) believed that seat selection would be free at OLCI, it is not - and prices to move from the pre-assigned middle seat to something better is 29 euro (!!) per segment at that point. Double the ASR price at 14 euro per segment. That's for 1-hour flights, every seat on the aircraft is 29 euro at OLCI. So that's almost 60 euro in seat selection fees to fly one way across Europe.

Flying back together in a few days I thought that I had learned my lesson and foolishly paid to pre-book two port side seats together on the A220. Just now received a message that we had been moved, separated over different rows. Called in and was told that purchasing the ASR only guarantees a seat in a zone - Economy in this case it seems - rather than the specific seat that you select for a specific price. Only two seats still available together a day before departure is at the back of the aircraft.

So now I did do ASR ... and still ended up paying for crappy seats. While still having paid 14 euro per segment per pax.

A bit of a rant, but also a but of an PSA about how Swiss handles these kind of situations.

Is that different from just seat selection?

I know LH and LX try to upsell you on "better" seats for more €€ so is that what ASR is about?

It's a whole revenue stream and can be complicated for passengers.

In a nutshell, the A in ASR allows you to pay (unless you have status) for a seat, or a better seat. If not then you may end up with what the computer gives you, or allows you to choose at check in.That's often a lottery.

All the detailed info for LH Group can be found here.

OLCI is at T-23 but often available earlier.

All middle seats have aisle access. Half have the big table between the seat and the aisle, the other half only the armrest.

And which rows has the big tabel between the seats and which has only the armrest?

Thanks for the link. The trick is with these:

Quote:

▪ The passenger reserves a specific seat characteristic (e.g. Classic Seat aisle, Classic Seat window, Extra Legroom Seat, Preferred Seat Zone) not a dedicated seat row/number.
▪ Nevertheless, a seat row/number is disclosed to the passenger, provided that the terms and conditions of advance seat reservation (ASR) are sufficiently communicated during the booking process.
▪ In the event of operationally necessary aircraft or cabin changes, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS reserve the right to reseat the passenger with best efforts to a seat of the same characteristic as originally booked.
▪ If the original seat characteristic cannot be provided, the passenger may request a refund.
Which, lets be honest - is robbery. Or at the least false advertising. When purchasing a seat they don't give the pax a choice to select and pay for (what they call) one of the seat characteristics, even though that's what they are actually selling. Rather, they let the pax choose a specific seat. Its very obvious why - when one is asked to pay just for the benefit of being guaranteed a "Regular isle seat" ... nobody would actually purchase this service. If they would just offer a service to pay 14-29 euro per flight per segment to guarantee an isle seat for example then all of this is fair. But that's not what they advertise when selecting a seat.

Sure the PDF may be linked somewhere in the fine print, but if in big print a specific seat is advertised and selected - and that's then that's what is expected for the fees paid. While other airlines do something similar, I believe they would happily refund your money if your seat reservation is annulled. And that makes sense because I'd argue that a standard isle seat in row 6 is not the same as a standard isle seat in row 26.

Personally I've had so many bad experiences with Swiss that I'm thinking to see if a credit card chargeback is an option here. Not because its a lot of money, but because I feel that Swiss is dishonest. Not once, but on multiple occasions over the last few years. Which is a real pity as I used to fly them a lot - and enjoyed doing so. Especially on the B777 to ATH which could be a killer deal in Business class at times :)

Hi all,

QQ for those who have flown it. Flying ZRH-EWR later this year on the A333, is 9A/B completely windowless or just misaligned? Traveling as a pair, so we'd prefer to have some sort of window (however only other availability are various middle 2 seats), so just wondering what LX means by 'no window'. Thanks!

I hope somebody here can help with how to see if a bassinet has been booked?

I have seat 6D on outbound flight where the bassinet is “available” and the bassinet in 6G is “taken.

On the inbound I have both 6D and G and both the bassinets are “available” so is this an indication that the person in 6G on the outbound flight is travelling with a baby? I am pretty sure that only the seat, and not bassinet was taken when I chose the seat.

Not to start a discussion about babies in business!

Think I know the answer - but are seat reservation fees refundable?
I have a business award tix, and want to book the throne seat...but there is a chance I will have to cancel the flight. Will I lose the seating fee?
