Hi all,
This thread is awfully long so I apologize if this has been asked/answered before. Search wasn't helpful. Booked ORD-ZRH on LX on the A340 in business on a United ticket. United.com showed 4A open (as did ExpertFlyer) and let me select it. Lufthansa.com also shows me in that seat. Question...I thought throne seats were blocked until OLCI or unless you paid for them? I'm on a "D" fare if that matters. What are the chances the 4A seat will stick? I think the reviews say this is still the best seat for a single flyer? Edit: at roughly 3pm today I was booted from the seat. United and LX/LH show no seat assignment and EF also shows that seat as unoccupied now. I can't get LH/LX to pull up a seat map any longer. So maybe my only question now is...what's the best seat for a solo flyer on the A340? Definitely want a single seat but I really hate small foot wells. Edit 2: Wrote Swiss via FB Messenger yesterday and asked for 4A again. They assigned it and both systems are showing it assigned to me as well. Let's see if it sticks. Note: FB interaction with Swiss is so much easier now. No automated bot -- just throw out your request and somebody will reply pretty quickly. I simply wrote a message with my PNR, flight date and number and viola. No back & forth. Thank you, -RM |
Upcoming flights on an E195 and E190 for BUD - ZRH - LCY (operated by Heveltic). It appears that either because of my ticket or *G, the exit row seats are being offered free of charge. Any reason not to sit in Row 16 (the 2nd exit row) on the E195 and Row 11 (the only exit row) on the E190?

- you want a laptop with you, which is not allowed to be stored in the seat pocket in the exit rows - you want to be off the plane earlier (more impact in LCY than ZRH) - you are not too tall and kind enough to let very tall pax sit there |
Does anyone know on the older A330 long haul aircraft cabins in economy what headphone jack the IFE uses? I doubt it's 3.5mm or 3.5mm+2.5mm, guessing it's 2x 2.5mm, but help is appreciated!

Throne seat - SFO to Zurich feedback; 777-300
I was able to get a throne seat for free, 24 hours before check in. I contemplated whether to give up my aisle seat 5 in the small cabin for throne seat. GLAD I DID. Looked at my "previous chosen seat" and was thrilled that I switched,
For solo traveler, throne was the best seat. The privacy and space is incredible. For a proper review and feedback: I am only 5.2 tall so the small footwell review, did not apply to me. Obviously, my feet didn't even reach the footwell area. I move a lot when I sleep and a side sleeper. I found it easy to maneuver when lying down flat. Seat was comfortable. I could have used a mattress pad, but I was so exhausted, I didnt bother to ask. Cabin was warmer than I am accustomed to. Service was excellent. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3dc7b0ec7.jpeg |

Can't decide between 5K (single window-aisle seat in smaller cabin), or 8A (throne seat in main cabin) on the A330.
This is on a day flight (ZRH-DXB) so probably won't be sleeping at all, and I'm not tall (175cm/5 feet 8.5) so I'm not sure if the small footwells on the throne matters. Does anyone have any recommendations for either? |

On a night flight I’d take 5K but on an eastbound day flight 8A doesn’t have the sun so I’d take 8A.

I have 17K (SFO-ZRH, 777). Are there better options (on the off chance that any of the other throne seats open up)?

They make it really hard to pull up a seating map for a Swiss flight booked on UA.com
The most i can see is the Econ seats when checking in and clicking change seats. Wanting to see what's still avlb in J or F. Being within 24hrs before takeoff can very well be the cause. Really wanting to upgrade the seats a bummer of I can't see what still avlb. And phone agents are just a waste of time. Can't seem to get any info about the seats from them. Any other ideas? |

Thinking of booking an biz award ticket VIE>ZRH>SFO, with VIE>ZRH being OS and ZRH>SFO on LX
I am aware that throne seats are released at OLCI, which LX opens 23 hours before departure, but OS has OLCI 47 hours before and since OS is my first segment, OLCI would be done at OS for both segments. What does this mean for me, will I have free throne seats available 47h before or they will stay locked and I will still have to try my luck 23 hours before (on OS website). Thanks |
Do they provide mattress pads for J seats on the US-GVA/ZRH routes on their A330s?
