Hi,
could you please recommend best Premium Economy seat in SWISS in A340? I am travelling alone, ZRH-PGV/HKG-ZRH best, dsk |
Flying JTR-ZHR on Edelweiss A320 in biz class with my SO. What's the best seat on the plane, bulkhead in row 1 or row 2? Also, do you have any idea if dinner will be served and if it will be good? The flight departs at 21:00. Thank you!

I'm currently in 7D. 6G (and 5G) are also available. I'm worried about galley noise/lights from 6G and 5G is rhe smaller of the two middle seats, so 7D seemed like the best choice... or is the bulkhead noticeably better? On an A330-300. (If the two thrones currently available open up at check in for free this question will be redundant :) )

What is the best alternative to the throne seats in J?
Do both middle seats have direct access to the aisle whereas the window seats which aren't throne seats means the one person at the window has to step over to get to the aisle? I'm on LX38 in end of April, ZHR-SFO. Do the bulkhead seats have footwells to stow your personal item or do you have to put all luggage in the overhead? |

A and K seats in pairs do not. Bulkheads have larger footwells but you can't really store anything there. There is some additional storage above the footwell and in the armrest for smaller items such as iPads, books, etc. 4A and 7A have an additional storage space next to the footwell (see photo) that is good for shoes, blanket, etc, but could also fit a small bag. Best seats after the thrones are the bulkhead G seats that have the armrest between the seat and the aisle (4G and 6G). https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ee1c29311.jpeg |
Thank you for the explanation and photo.
I’m United Gold and remember flying in the single window seat so hopefully I can get it again. SeatGuru showed some bulkhead seats which were also next to galleys and lavatories so those were orange. Will check them again. |

I saw 4A was available now free of charge and tried to switch to it pre check-in, but not only did it not let me switch, it also deleted my existing seat reservation and the agent on the phone said there's nothing they can do until checkin time.... is that right? Phone agents can't assign seats between 24-48hours pre departure? Hopefully 4A or at least my previous seat are still available when I check in...
EDIT: Snagged 4A at check-in, hallelujah |
I'm looking at an ultra cheap economy flight within Europe via ZRH, traveling with SO however on different bookings as I'll have to combine with a business trip. I do have *A Gold status but she does not. We'd like to sit together obviously, and I'm trying to gauge how feasible that is without advanced seat reservation.
So, the Doing advanced seat reservation is crazy expensive (close to 60 euro roundtrip, thats almost half of the roundtrip ticket price). Which is surely not by coincidence.. the same fee as upgrading from Light to Classic. Which comes with ASR and checked luggage. I absolute hate the way pax are squeezed for basic things like ASR and just because of that I'd prefer not to give in to make life easier and pay for ASR. But it has to be feasible to select seats together at checkin. If not we'll do Classic. Is freely selecting seats at T-24 generally possible? |
I went ahead and booked the Eco Light tickets and will select seats at check in. Only after I realised that the last segment to ATH is operated by a B777. Which makes upgrading to C interesting. At 120 euro per segment I should have probably just upgraded both segments for 150 euro instead. Or, we'll go for PE. The PE seats can be selected for 20 euro ASR, compared to 14 euro for regular seats. Thats a good deal for a ~2 hr flight actually. Just hoping that these are a bit more comfortable that the AF PE seats (Which are also fixed shell).

777 / zrh-sin-zrh
I'd appreciate some advice as it would be my first time flying with Swiss in C.
I'll fly with the 777 from ZRH to SIN and back. I was able to secure 5K (throne seat in the "Stübli") on both flights as a solo traveller. 4A is not available anymore, but 7A is (actually, the whole bigger C cabin is available on the return flight). The flights will be night flights, except for landing in SIN due to time difference. The approach gives a stunning view, but not so on 5K because it's on the right side of the plane. So my priorities: Quick access to the lavatory > privacy as solo traveller > space in the footrest > view (I can choose any available seat as *G with Lufthansa) |

However it's not worth changing seats for: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...dec45256a.jpeg |
First: Row 1 or 2?
(not sure if this has been discussed before, as one cannot search for single or double letter phrases)
I've flown Swiss First several times, almost always sitting in 2A. Now for my next flight (flying solo) I'm thinking of trying 1A or 1K. Does anybody have a preference for row 1 or 2, or is the difference negligible? Thanks for your views (to add: it's a 14hrs day-time flight) |
