A340-300 HB-JMA ZRH-JFK LX282 26/3/2023.

Bid for upgrade Y to Y+ but declined at T-26hrs. Then on checkin magically assigned 22G at no cost, no explanation. No LX status, SAS EuroBonus Gold.

No pre-departure beverage, and menus distributed after takeoff.

Seat area not thoroughly cleaned: hygiene wipe wrapper still in the side compartment, menu from previous flight in the seat pocket.

No USB or power until after takeoff. Universal socket near the floor, angled downwards, difficult to get in.

Good screen, responsive and fast, headphones comfortable and good volume and sound. Not sure if they’re actually noise cancelling. I and my seat mate were woken in the night when my screen suddenly turned on full brightness.

Two buttons for seat controls. Leg rest rises easily, recline is difficult in the climb: got to press and slide forward. Could do with some kind of footrest to push against.

Reading lamp satisfying to use.

Very strange space behind row 22, third and final row of Premium Economy, and row 27. Row 27 gets loads of legroom but also can’t reach the seat pockets, power socket etc. A fourth row of PE would seem to have been more space efficient.

Special meal not delivered, and vegan breakfast box identical to Y; so if you order a special dietary meal you can expect to miss out on the nicer plating and presentation of Premium Economy.

Not sure I’d pay for this. Only marginally better sleeping experience than regular Economy.
