Hi all,
This thread is awfully long so I apologize if this has been asked/answered before. Search wasn't helpful.

Booked ORD-ZRH on LX on the A340 in business on a United ticket. United.com showed 4A open (as did ExpertFlyer) and let me select it. Lufthansa.com also shows me in that seat. Question...I thought throne seats were blocked until OLCI or unless you paid for them?

I'm on a "D" fare if that matters. What are the chances the 4A seat will stick? I think the reviews say this is still the best seat for a single flyer?

Edit: at roughly 3pm today I was booted from the seat. United and LX/LH show no seat assignment and EF also shows that seat as unoccupied now. I can't get LH/LX to pull up a seat map any longer. So maybe my only question now is...what's the best seat for a solo flyer on the A340? Definitely want a single seat but I really hate small foot wells.
Edit 2: Wrote Swiss via FB Messenger yesterday and asked for 4A again. They assigned it and both systems are showing it assigned to me as well. Let's see if it sticks. Note: FB interaction with Swiss is so much easier now. No automated bot -- just throw out your request and somebody will reply pretty quickly. I simply wrote a message with my PNR, flight date and number and viola. No back & forth.

Thank you,
-RM

Best solo seats on the A343 are 4A and 6A which are thrones with a larger footwell due to the bulkhead. Other solo seats are a trade off between foot space and privacy: the single A seats are thrones with narrower footwells and the single K seats have larger footwells but only a narrow armrest between the seat and the aisle. If 5K is available that would be my choice after 4A/6A.

Booked a SFO > CPH flight with a connection in ZRH. ZRH flight is Swiss AIRBUS A220-300 to CPH. I booked through United, but logged into Swiss to book seats and looks like im unable to - is this usually the case / are seats only avail at checkin? Haven’t encountered this before so just wondering what the best way is to secure seats.

the flight is also in august

on the 777 does 4A have the same larger footwell as 7A? Are those two the only throne seats with a larger footwell on this plane.
Are there other advantages of 4A over 7A other than no proximity to toilet and more quiet cabin? any difference between day and night flight re advantages?

4A and 7A are identical on the B77W. Another, minor advantage is that you're a bit further away from the engines - the B77W is a noisy plane.

Traveling ZRH-LAX in 3 weeks. 4 Pax and I am having difficulties finding suitable 4 seats close by. Some other Pax have taken seats, I do not understand. I understand that the thrones would cost them, probably.

Looking for experiences from others…. But why would e.g. a single traveling Pax take an aisle seat on the side (window is available), instead of an aisle seat in the center row? Does anyone have clues, or does this themselves? All surrounding seats are empty, and from the seat number, I doubt it is a reserved seat for crew, tiger or anything else.

thanks for thoughts.

better not waste any time about other passengers choices....sometimes it is a reservation by a travel agency done by a staff, who has never flown on long haul biz; somtimes passengers do not care and speculate to switch at OLCI free of charge to a throne...
sorry that I have no better advise than to reserve first 2 each together (which is probably the most important issue) and then monitor (if you have time) as there are usually still some frequent changes during the last 3 weeks...

yes, that is exactly what I am doing. There a 3 seats in the Stübli, 4DG being my typical seats, and 5G… speculating 5D becomes available.

hoping too, that 24hrs prior some seats will free up. :)

Hi there, would you rather sit in the small cabin 4A or 4B in 77W or prefer one of the throne seats in 11A/13A/15A/12K/14K?
As far as I understand, there is no difference when it comes to leg space and all seats mentioned (excluding 4B) have a window. I have already been in the small cabin, but I am not sure if a throne seat in the main cabin is really better than a standard C-seat in the small cabin.

You may have mad a mistake on seat numbers : 4A is a throne on 777, and there is no 4B.
If travelling alone, I would definitely consider a throne (if you can secure it) rather than travelling in A/B next to a stranger, even in the Stübli. The no-access to the aisle for the A seat is a no-go for me, either for A or B.

You are correct, I have made a mistake. Thank you for your input :) I meant 5A and 5B, and I am aware that none of both is a throne seat. From what I have read in this thread, I had the feeling that some users prefer a seat in the small cabin over a 'coffin-style' throne seat.

Of course it's all subjective, but no way would I take 5A and have to straddle a stranger to get out when I could have a solo seat in the larger C cabin.

Trying to book a throne seat on A333, I am Star gold + LH silver.

Tried yesterday could not select without paying, tried today (within 48 hours to flight), seat was showing available free of charge, was all happy, tried selecting the seat, but system will not let me proceed.
Problem is even my old seat I can not reselect.

Called reservations, they say within 48 hours they can not assign a seat as it is under airpot control.

Any solution here?
