Dear dgdevil,
I am sorry to hear you encountered issues when trying to select a seat for your LX flight. May I ask in which class you will be travelling? In case your ticket is an Economy Class ticket, then seat selection is unfortunately not possible in advance. Much to my regret, even a *A Gold status would not help in this situation, as advance seat reservation is not a Star Alliance Gold benefit. In case you will be travelling in Business Class or higher, please kindly provide your PNR in a PM and I will be happy to have a look at it. Best regards from ZRH, Nick |
Something is VERY wrong
My wife spent over 60 minutes on the phone and was supposedly assigned a specific seat. Now she's in ORD and is told she has to DEPART the secure area, go to SWISS ticket desk in front lobby (??) to get a boarding pass. Is this a Star Alliance flight or Southwest or maybe North Korean Airlines?
She hops not to miss her flight to Europe....... |

4A vs 4K (on the 777)
Any thoughts? This is my first time on LX and looks like the mini cabin upfront might be the way to go.
Thanks. |

I agree it is odd that they block 4J and not 4K.

Just flew the 777 two weeks ago and I am a bit disappointed with the seatings. As I am not only tall but also a bit wider than others I always like the odd-numbered K seats in the 330/340. They have the option to lower the armrest and because of the legroom open to the cabin wall I there is good space for knees and legs.
For night flights (means you want to mainly use the bedding function) the throne seats, even the bulkheads, are imho not the way to go. The space for legs is limited and it is not possible to "widen the seat". In the new 777 there are no such seats existing. I took 7A (don't like the mini cabin because I feel cramped there). I finally changed to 8D because this one was really more comfy to sit. So from my side I will rather fly the seats with armrest to the aisle (or to the wall if flying in couple) instead of the thrones. My 2 cents. Btw: Took F on the way back and there I will take any seat anytime. ;) |
Curious ... what is this good reason you refer to?

This is not at all odd. There is a very good reason for that which many LX frequent flyers know. Expect it to be like that quite often. ;)

Wow...How disappointed are we?
We just booked a *A award ticket RT thru ZUR on our way to Asia. Out of the 6 legs with a combo of Y and C, just one leg has no advance seating, the seats on Swiss. They want payment for a seat in advance. I would think as *A award booking you would provide seats free of charge. Even status does not help. This is our first and last time flying Swiss Air. The other 3 carriers all gave a seat assignment in advance. Not only that they made sure Mrs. Doc and I are seated together and got to pick way ahead of time. Like I said our first and last try on flying Swiss. Next time we give Swiss a Miss:td: |
