Have another issue on my booking in about a week. Seat 4K is available as per the website. I can select it and save the selection without any error message. But when I go in again I am back to my former seat 5G. Called to the hotline and got the information that 4K is "blocked" (such as a facility seat) despite in the web interface it is still free and available. The hotline lady was not able to tell me for what "facility" the seat might be blocked but was not able to confirm the seat at all.

The pain is not over

And the latest "beauty" of the (long overdue) system change: Seats selected do not appear anymore on the LX site :td::td: (but on the M&M and Amadeus sites they are still showing).

Of course have also the "companion problem" when selecting HON/SEN seats .

In the past I thought that the "eternal" for (whatever) facility seats omnipresent with LX were the only pain - was too optimistic.

Hmm,… I did just try.
Selected seats show up in my bookings on the LX site. I could also change a seat without any problem.

Well done. I like the copyright in the first two pictures and also this bit:

From summer 2016 onwards, a new Boeing 777 with 62 business class seats will be deployed on services to Swiss’s furthest destinations non-stop from Switzerland. Though it's not clear yet how many will be throne seats
Do your research. :o

(The answer is: 12)

I had 6 J seats reserved in the mini cabin for our flight in a few months on the 777. A couple of weeks ago, we were all moved to different seats, with 5 of us remaining in the mini cabin and one person in the larger J cabin. Throne seats now show as reserved for Hon members (not a big deal for us).
We are now seated in 5AB, 5DG, 4K and 14K. Ideally we would all like sit together. 4J shows as available, however I keep getting an error message after selecting this seat. Will Swiss open seats reserved for Hon members to everyone prior to check in or am I better off moving the person in 4K to the 14J? I don't want to be shuffled around again.
Not sure why 4J shows as available and I am unable to select it.

I booked two business class awards for the 777 from LAX to ZRH and I had the same error message when attempting to book 4J with 4K. When I called Swiss they stated that 4J was unable to be booked, the CSR suggested that it was reserved for Miles and More passengers. This seemed strange to me given that it's not a throne seat and it's only one of the two seats. Either way I booked 9JK for now. Does anyone think that 5AB would be better as it is in the mini cabin? The CSR mentioned that the lavatories were directly behind row 5 so that's why I chose row 9 as to have some buffer but is there actually any issue being in row 5?

The proximity of the lavatories is usually not an issue for me but be aware that one window is missing from row 5. It wasn't as big an inconvenience as I first thought though, but you have to lean forward a bit to enjoy the view.

I have a UA ticketed P fare, UA-LH-LX. And while UA and LH seats can be reserved on their respective websites, of course the LX segments cannot. So . . . after 15 minutes on hold, LX phone agent says 4K is under airport control on LX38, even though it shows open and available for booking by non-SEN/HON when I search revenue flights. 5A is best I can get.

He also tells me no advance seat assignments (until check-in) on LX2251 because it's "operated" by Helvetic even though it's really an LX wet lease.

Kacee: Is your LX flight listed as a UA codeshare?

For anyone:
On my upcoming LX P fare (booked as a United codeshare), I was auto assigned 5B on A330-300. When I phoned Swiss to get something different, I was told there was no way to assign my seat until 23 hours before departure due to it being booked as a codeshare.

I have never flown Swiss. On other airlines, I have not run into any issues with being seat reservations by the operating airline. Does this seem correct for Swiss?

I flew an LX P fare with a UA codeshare flight number a few months ago and had the opposite experience. Both web and phone seat changes were possible. The original UA booking returned a reserved seat number. Using the LX rather than UA record locator, I was able to successfully change the seat on the LX website. The United website never showed the change, but I confirmed on the phone with Swiss that it was in their record, which is all that counts, as they're going to issue the boarding pass. Later phoned and asked for yet a different seat, and LX complied on the phone. You probably need to just keep calling back.

LX flight number BUD-ZRH
UA flight number ZRH-SFO

Amazing inconsistency!

I'm able to access my reservation on the web with LX confirm, but not select seats.

Phone agent was able to assign seat on ZRH-SFO (UA flight number), but selection was limited.

Thanks for the recent experiences.

I was able to access my record on LX. I was not able to change the seat on my ZRH->ORD leg (UA codeshare)...it was grayed out. My feeder flight (Operated By Helvetic Airways AG with LX flight number) on a Fokker 100, I could change the seat on-line, but I was happy with what I already had.

As reported earlier, phone agent said seat assignment was only available OLCI on the codeshare.

I will call back tomorrow and try again. From a dummy booking, looks like plenty of available business seats to choose from.

On my outbound leg with OS, I had a great experience with their reservation line. Answered quickly, seats assigned without fuss, took all of 3 minutes.

I agree it is odd that they block 4J and not 4K. I choose seat 4K and hoping that 4J will remain available until check in. I'd like to know if Swiss will make the seats reserved for Miles and More passengers available to all J passengers at <24 hours if they are not taken by then.

Yes, called again today and the agent was very willing to change my seat assignment even though it was booked as a UA codeshare. Weirdly, seats that were showing open on a dummy booking at Swiss website were already reserved, according to the agent. (regular seats, not HON/Special seats).

I am now pretty far back in the cabin, but in the middle section, so no worries about aisle access or being climbed over. I will inquire upon check-in about any of the better seats becoming available.

Jazzed to be trying out LX later this month. ^
