I'm currently on a 773 to LAX and this J seat is the most uncomfortable business class seat I can remember. No padding on the bottom so it's like sitting on a wooden board. The controls don't reliably work and often stops before reaching the desired position. There is no "zero gravity" position, so recline also means your feet are angled downward. This is a worn out antiquated product and the new seats can't come soon enough.

If you feel a hard surface on the bottom or the seat back, then the seat is deflated - this is not by design. It either needs to be reset or it's got a leak. A topic nowhere near discussed enough IMHO, but do say something to the crew/MdC!

Also curious about this, did you manage to find an answer?

Update: When I checked-in online, the seat was auto-assigned, and any seat change would have required a fee. This is for Swiss Economy Light intercontinental.

Thanks. Sounds like keeping 6A for now isn't the worst idea for more footwell space, and shoot for one of 4/5K, 4DG/5D seats if they're still available at OCLI.

Or maybe swap to one of the seats in row 12/13/14 if the rear is still open by the time I fly for more quiet, since the J bathrooms are forward.

Update: 4K/5K was selected a couple weeks ago unfortunately, but I managed to snag a mini cabin seat... both 4D/G opened up around T-72, I took 4G for a little more privacy.

Probably the best I can do, short of a K seat opening up.

Update 2: Any opinions on 12/14K vs. 4G on the 333? I assume I get served first in 4G with just a quieter cabin overall (+ bulkhead space), but 14K is near the cabin wall and solo seats seem to be highly regarded here..

Flying solo on LX15 A330 which would you suggest
5D
6D/G - Bulkhead according to LX website
Or paying for 6A throne
from pictures it looks like some middles i.e. 5D,6G have throne-like problem of squishiness due to tables on both sides is that correct ?

Wouldn't expect you to read the entire thread but how about my recent post?

MichielR Yes ive read your posts before posting and it is extremely enahncing and informative thanks so much for that however, it doesnt totaly answer my question although it comes very close.
it doesnt specify whether the Throne-like seats on odds D have the same squishiness as regular throne or just the plus of throne seats due to the tables; i remeber last time i flew LX that the squishiness on thrones is due to the configuration ending up with the footwell falling somewhere in between the double seats in front not the tables itself (altough it does add to the claustrophobia, if that the case than 5D should have that issue
your post also doesnt point on preference regular odd D/G to bulkhead D/G where on one hand bulkheads are more spacy while 5D is in private section

thanks again for your immense input

Thanks. The nature of the LX seat indeed is such that the feet go underneath the table of the row in front. The rows are off-set, slightly staggered. The seats in pairs with two tables are similarly boxed-in to thrones in that sense. 5D is a throne-like seat in a pair and thus has the narrower footwell but also less exposure to the aisle than its neighbor 5G. (A333)

6G is a bulkhead and throne-like so has the wider footwell.

My order of preference (bearing in mind that I have status and do iPhoto have to pay for preferential seats on LX) is:

6A bulkhead throne
6G bulkhead throne-like in a pair
5D non-bulkhead double throne-like in mini cabin
6D bulkhead double exposed to aisle

The last two are a judgement call, on a day flight I'd pick the mini cabin because it is often quieter. On a night flight I might pick the bulkhead because of the extra foot space (and my relatively large feet).

The first depends on your willingness to pay, and IMO 6G is still a good seat.

Any further news on the a330 Senses cabin installations slated for this year (other than the 1.5ton block..)?

Since SWISS ordered an additional 5 A350's it looks like part of the A330's will be replaced between 2027 until 2031, I still have a feeling it will be all of them and a further top up order will be anounced within next year or so. Until then it's a long time, so maybe we will see part of the A330 fleet to get Sensless, if this is still the case by end of this year the first plane should get the new cabin + extra weight.

ced_lx Jan 20, 2025 11:47 am

Well the oldest 330s are from 2009 and 2010 so replacing them in 28-31 means they would be 19-22 years old when replaced. I would also assume that by then the plan would be to relace the rest of the 330s.

On an A330 overnight flight, solo traveler, which is better: 5K or 7K?
