Dear Swiss experts,
I have an award reservation in Premium Economy for wife and 4yo kid.

When accessing the booking, I get this warning
Traveling with children: Seat reservation required
For safety, children must sit next to an accompanying adult. Reserve your seats before departure to save time and avoid reseating. If no suitable combination is available, please contact our service centres. If you already have selected your seats, please disregard this information.
If I try to reserve the seats, it’s ~70€ each.
Is this mandatory or can I wait OLCI?

Thanks

Sorry if has been asked, but for 2 travelers, would you recommend 2 seats by the windows or in the center? Any disadvantage of further back in the J cabin? e.g. meal choice might run out.

Depends mostly on whether you prefer a window (day flight) or aisle access for both pax (night). In a B77W the closer to the engines the noisier, less an issue in the A333/343.

You will be ok if you do not pay to prereserve, they will place you together during OLCI. If no seats are free they fix at airport by giving upgrades and reseating others.

I am surprised that a premium economy ticket requires an extra charge, it might help to call and ask about pre assigned seating for free as a family or also as PE PAX.

Thank you for your response.
This ticket is an M&M award, and although during the booking process it states that seat selection is included and free, the call center says that this doesn't apply to Swiss flights and that the booking engine provided incorrect information.

Hi all, have an award reservation in business ORD-ZRH, 2 adults and one lap infant, booked via UA and have selected my seats via the LX website. I see seats 5ABK and 4JK open and am able to move my wife to any of those seats, but when I try to change my seat to any of those seats, the selection does not stick. I called customer service and they said all the seats are blocked even though I can see they are available (and can select them for my wife). The only thing I can think of is lap infants are not allowed in the Stubli and that's what is preventing me from selecting a seat. Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC this has to do with the absence of an extra oxygen mask at the regular seats, that is available at the bassinet seats.

I am currently in 17AB which are not bassinet seats, and most of the main business cabin (including 6DG which have bassinets) is completely open to select, which is why I was confused. No one at Swiss reservations can explain it to me, despite being able to pick both of those seats for us.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.

Need a little help picking my seat! Flying solo SIN-ZRH (777-300ER). All the throne seats are booked (and even if they weren’t, they’d cost extra anyway).

The available seats are shown in blue. I selected 17G (the red seat with the yellow dot), it’s a middle seat with good privacy. BUT it’s in the last row of the business cabin, so there could be potential noise from the bassinet area in economy right behind me.

I’m wondering if I should switch to 7G instead. It’s a middle seat closer to the front, but a little more exposed to the aisle compared to 17G. What would you guys do?

I would rather decide this based on the personal space needs. The more exposed seats allow to lower the aisle-side armrest, thereby providing some more space. The less exposed seats provide, of course, more privacy.

When travelling with my girlfriend, she would pick the less exposed seat (she does not need more space and prefers the enhanced privacy) and I would pick the more exposed seat (I prefer the more space).

I was totally okay with 17G. A lot of space and also quiet place.

Heart sank a bit after going through the last few posts from 2023 (and apologies if it has been covered before):

Booked a last minute fare in ‘P’ with two intercontinental legs (both on A333), and I thought as a MM (lifetime *G - not that it should have any bearing?!) - I should at least get:

1. Throne seats for free at 48 hours
2. Or at least at 23 hours - throne seats should be free.

after reading some of the posts, looks like the days of ‘free’ throne seat selection are over?!

Both legs have almost sold out business cabin - first leg: somehow managed to snag 10K (best seat available at the time) and on the second, stuck in 5G (with open ‘paid’ throne seats).

for the second leg, do you recommend trying at 48 / 23 hours to select a throne seat for free (or will it now always come up as chargeable seat or is it route dependent)?!

Thrones are free for SEN and HON, not *G.

I've gotten it a couple of time, as a *G at OLCI.

In fact, I believe I got it in 2024 or no more than some time in 2023.

If LX and LH adopted a homogenous layout of seats in business class, we wouldn't have to play games.

But they must get enough people to pay premiums for these better and best seats.

ced_lx May 7, 2025 7:41 am

Seems OLCI free seats in J is not a thing anymore.

I guess some people pay for the seats. I will pay for upgrades, but the thrones are not worth more $$ to me. In Allegris/Senses, there seems to be a larger gap bettwen seats, but then again they are still all direct access.
