I always fly in the forwardsmal lcabin -it is a bit darker and less spacious than the rear cabin but service can be more attentive in the forward mini-cabin
Noise is not an issue - there is a purser seating area on the A340 just behind the minicabin before the exit/galley -noise isn't an issue on the A330 the galley is directly behind Im 6ft3 and prefer 4A I do remember once on an award ticket with UA miles sititng in 4A on a flight ZRH-SIN One third into the flight the maître d'cabine came and asked me to move because I was in a throne reserved for Senators/Hon Circle and a Senator had asked for my seat Appauling that they would even ask but it is Swiss!!! Flashed my Senator card and no apology given - the rest of the flight was very tense with that "matron" de-kabin eyeing me off - even got a phone call from LX customer service in ZRH when I was back in Australia asking what had happended - need I say that they thought it quite acceptable I could be asked to vacate a preferred seat mid-flight |

Booked an award ticket with some legs on Swiss, had a difficult time changing seats due to seats being blocked off for senator members, etc, even though they are available online.
Called swiss reservations, and had to have the CSR confirm my seats because my fiance's seats disappeared. Also tried to get other combos of twin seats but some of them had the same issue with seats being reserved for senator members, and couldn't get them to budge. a330: ZRH-DXB, 5A/5B a330: DXB-ZRH, 14A/B 777: ZRH-ORD, 14J/K Looking foward to the product, first time flying on swiss. |
LX 777 best J middle seat non-Elite
Flying LX 777 J looking for seat for non elites that isn't blocked in or block someone in. I understand most prefer the middle seats with tables on both sides?
How about 6G? Does it, as one in front of its cabin, have the much bigger foot space? Is t too close to galley? |

I strongly recommend the middle seats or a single seat. Do not take any of the double seats on the sides. Too tight. OMG.

Care to elaborate? My fiance and I both travelling on a 773 and a300 and have the seats together on the side on two of our legs (like to be by windows) with another leg in 5A/B, but you are saying the middle twin seats are bigger?
Thanks for the response in advance! |

The issue with the double seats by the window is that you literally squeezed in and whomever gets the window seat will have to climb all over you(in your case Im sure you dont mind that) to get out. Now the middle row seats gives you both enough of room to get out easily without having to climb over each other. And the divider in between the seats is such a pain, in that its permanent and you cannot really see each other without staining your neck.
Yeah since I am travelling with my fiance I don't anticipate it being an issue. And we like to sit by the windows to do some gazing once in awhile. Thank you very much for the response and info! |

My husband and I returned from ZRH last week and were seated in 5A/B. The small cabin was very nice. The problem with the double seats is that partition sticks up in the middle, where the trays are stowed and you can't even see each other or speak to each other easily. Also,he sleeps well on planes and sits on the aisle. In order to get out of my seat, I had to climb over him and that required my changing the position of my seat and his changing the position of his seat. If I were to fly Swiss again, I would definitely opt for the single seats, as we were really unable to communicate while seated next to each other. I don't know if the single seats are wider, but the seats we had were quite narrow, and we are not wide people.

Seats are exactly the same across the C-cabin. The difference is the armrest space. The twin section near the window does only get a large armest between the seats, while the twin section in the middle of the plane gets 2 large armrests: 1 between the seats and 1 on the side of 1 of the 2 twin seats. |

What matters to me more is the seat itself. I have sat in a 'throne' (4A and 6A) a few times and don't particularly like it. I'm by no means large but I feel wedged in in a throne seat. I much prefer a single seat on the righthand side of the cabin with the table between the seat and the aisle (5K, 7K, etc). Even numbered K seats only have the armrest between you and the aisle (as do 4D, 5G and other similar seats) and some people reported feeling very close to the floor when the seat is fully reclined.
So, for an upcoming solo traveler redeye, my best selections are 5G or 12K (neither of which is separated from the aisle). I can maybe hope for 4D or 4G on OLCI but seems like 12K is probably the better overall. Never mind - I wound up with 4K at OLCI. |
Odd seat maps on the 330
2 Attachment(s)
Hi,
Can anyone explain the following seat maps? The aircraft is A330, but the port pairs of seats (5/7/9/11/14 AB) seem to only have one seat: the neighbor is greyed out. Should I assume that the other seat in pair will remain blocked (and reserve 5A and 7A as I did? Or would 10K and 6K be better choices? Flights are LX253/LX252. Thanks a lot, Shuly |
