There's no way the contract specifies the aircraft type.

Did I say that? Hmm, no, I didn't. I was talking about in-flight equipment, i.e. lie-flat seats in contrast to camping chairs.

HTB.

I thought the contract deals with air transportation from X to Z and class of service and not with the aircraft used.

Tel Aviv - ZRH

There are certainly two contrasting service levels on this route. On the day flight out on Saturday, it was an A340. As no F is sold, the three HON passengers were given seats in F, with a C service. Great, with loads of space.

I then took TLV-ZRH on Monday afternoon on the afternoon flight, operated on a normal short-haul A321. Those seats get quite uncomfortable after four hours.

I have not checked this... is the fare the same, independent of the aircraft type? The value could not be more different, if the fares are the same.

True, but one can easily argue that the intra-European C is an IDB. I mean, an airline wants to avoid downgrade IDB - just call economy BIZ, and you're done. Just like you don't expect this trick to hold in court, I do not want to believe that this will work in this case as well...

(and I suspect LX is about to pull this stunt on me in a few minutes)

Do they still offer a voucher when it's downgraded? do they offer a voucher when the flight is originally scheduled with a A321?

Why should they? If planned this way, there can't be a downgrading (in view of seat comfort)...

What do you mean, "planned this way?" When booking, it's listed as A330.

Some flights are listed as A321 at time of booking
