Comments: Mrs. Planecrashlaw was checking in before me under my reservation, so I wrote GM asking that they make her check in as smooth as possible and, of course, requesting that we be upgraded to a suite if available. Dummy bookings confirmed all categories of suites available for our stay. On arrival, Mrs. Planecrashlaw (and another PLT as well) told no suites available and clerk denied existence of letter. Mrs. Planecrashlaw produced copy of said letter to clerk, who disappeared in back office for 5 minutes, and handed her keys to Presidential Suite, thanking her for having a copy of the letter with her. Note to self: always carry copy of GM letter with me.

Very nice suite, BTW.

Comments: Due to the difference in the change to DST, my flight got in an hour earlier than usual and I arrived fairly early at the hotel. Online I had been promised a suite with a view, but evidently none was available at that hour in the morning but I was put in a nice enough junior suite (with no view whatsoever). The fellow at the desk went up to the room with me to make sure it was ok. I really needed a shower and a rest and it was a fine trade off, although I miss the little couch/easy chair in some of the other suites I have stayed in here. This hotel takes care of regular guests (I am here 20+ days/year).

I wouldn't care; that would suit me just fine, especially in that city. Sounds great!!

It's actually quite depressing after day 1......you have this big terrace, outdoor lounges, dinner table for 6 on terrace directly smacked in front of grand canal, the best views of venezia but i was alone....cr#p....

That's awesome. Did the GM reply to your letter? What was the reply?
