It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Alternatively, there could be a tiered LT Plat status post-program merger similar to the tiered Plat status that currently exists whereby members with 500 nights would earn LT Plat Status while those with 750 nights would earn an enhanced LT Plat Status similar to SPG50 vs SPG75 vs SPG100.

P.S. My Dashboard also shows the correct progress towards LT Plat status.
If you look at it objectively, SPG Platinum 50 is roughly more equivalent to MR Gold and SPG Platinum 75 is roughly more equivalent to MR Platinum (yes, with Suite Nights and My 24). SPG 100 doesn't really have a MR equivalent. When MR maps the LT statuses, it would make sense to map them that way (assuming for the current SPG LT Plats, they can still go and figure out if they've made the qualification for the new Platinum level - 750 nights, for example, and look at both the Marriott nights and SPG nights in figuring that out).

Interesting. I was just looking at an upcoming reservation I have for LM Kuala Lumpur, and I see that my name has been altered. I am now "Margarita LTG Girl" where Margarita is my first name and Girl is my last name. I checked a few other reservations and it's the only one where I noticed this. Kudos to LM for making sure FD agent acknowledges status.

I would guess that that happened like this: You were listed as "Girl, Margarita LTG" where LTG was intended as a note following your name, but was entered incorrectly. Then, when the computer put your name back together, LTG became part of your first name, and thus your middle initials.

I misled you. Actually, it says "MS. MARGARITA *LTG* GIRL". So sure looks like it was added as a notation.

The real question is will anyone explain to the FDCs what the LTG means? I had one FDC comment I must be relieved I don't have to all those stays once I hit Plat. They thought all status was for life! They were a bit shocked learning we had to do the nights each and every year to keep it.

I hope it does work to get you some recognition even if nothing more than extra water in the room.

So quick Question: Looking to make lifetime gold before the changeover (presumably Q1 2018). I currently am 80 nights away which is doable by then, but my SPG Dashboard only shows me as having 3 years elite as of today. I first qualified for Gold in December of 2013 (have been Plat ever since), but my question is when do they start the "years elite". Is is the calendar year of status or from the exact date you first made status?

I will have 5 years of elite status in the program if you just look at it in the years I've qualified (2013,14,15,16,17) and potentially 18, but based on my dashboard it would imply I would be SOL at the transition, with only 4 years "elite". When I called SPG they weren't able to clarify.

I have not seen anything that states if SPG goes by the calendar year, the anniversary date you signed up, the date you cross the threshold, or some arbitrary sweep date when they run a program to check who's up for it. Cutting it so close to the wire can be problematic.

Remember, anything a CSR tells you today may not be in effect at the time of the program mergers. I'd say just roll your dice and see how it ends up. You'll be just as well off.

If you would like for us to offer some clarification, send your SPG account number to the email address below. A screenshot of what your SPG Dashboard is showing would be helpful as well.

They do not count the year you first make PLT in. That's why I am short a year for LTP right now. When you make PLT, it is for the next year, so they are only counting the following year when they determine number of years elite.

Maybe better throught of as "the number of years in which you qualified for Gold/Plat status"

Perhaps; but unlike LTG, LTP requires 10 years of PLT. Not as easy to swing.

Interesting, my upcoming reservation at the same hotel lists me as
<ALEX> **YOUR24 <LAST NAME>
even so I am also LTG.

I seem to be having issues with my "Platinum Years" calculation on my Dashboard as well. Last year I was at 8 and the count is still showing 8 even though I requalified for Platinum in 2016. Will send an email to the address William gave.

Just as a point of clarification, the year you earn the status is the year that counts. If you did 25 stays/50 nights in 2016, 2016 and not 2017 is the year that counts. For the OP that thinks he/she has already qualified for 2017, that is impossible as the credit card nights have not posted yet and even with 3 rooms X 11 nights so far, that is only 33 nights.
