I'm encountering this strange effect on various searches. E.g looking at BUD-IST-CMB departing 3/11 8:10pm arriving 3/12 3:15pm.
According to Expertflyer:
BUD-IST on its own has 4 J available....

A flight that I'm planning involves buying separate tickets, the first a US domestic on UA and the second on TK.

The only way an OTA would let me book those, is when there's at least 3 hours...

My understanding of the terms is that if there is upgrade availability then voucher can be used. Nowhere did I ever see any term that allows to limit or otherwise discriminate the use of the voucher...
