I realize that, but I guess what I'm asking is what is worth more? 1k Virgin points, 7k Hilton points, or 2k miles on AA or Alaska?

I earn $100 e-rewards about 3 or 4 times a year.

I have been putting them into Virgin, because I like their airline, and they now fly to Maui, but the rate is poor ($100 for 1k points), it seems.

I used to always get Hawaiian Miles, but they are no longer in this program.
Hilton has devalued their points so much, I'm not sure if 7k of them is equal even to 1k Elevate points.

Alaska has a nice program, and they fly out of my local airport (Charles Schultz), which is a plus, and I can go almost anywhere with AA miles, and SW goes to PR now, I think, so I'm just not sure which program to choose

beachmouse Feb 9, 2016 7:20 pm

Southwest is dollar-based redemption, so most useful if you can reserve a flight far enough ahead to get their 'Wanna Get Away' fare bucket. Once they sell out of those, redemption rates can be surprisingly awful, especially if your route involves connections.

My understanding of Hilton is that if you want the program to be genuinely useful, especially for higher level redemptions, it's best to jump in with both feet and max out elite bonuses and credit card multipliers.

I'm not familiar with Alaska, and Virgin's route map is limited so I'd probably just got for the American miles since they're quite versatile.

However I have found there are quite a few occasions that the earnings never post. Or the posted amount is way less than the final survey. Just had one that started with $7.00 but only posted $2.50 from the "leading survey" which I was not qualified. Then it led to a second survey which I finished with the satisfactory evaluation screen yet only got $2.50 versus the $7.00 on the offer page.

I vaguely remember that in the past some folks mentioned about the earnings from this multiple steps "chain" have often lost in the cyber space. Some said not to do this kind of survey anymore.

Can you share your experiences?

It would be a nuisance to make screen shot of each survey then screen shot of a successful completion. After a few miss postings, I guess that is the thing to do despite the inconvenience and annoyance.

I had the EXACT same thing happen this evening--a survey that was supposed to be $7 with exactly $2.50 credited after. I know this is what happened because it was the only survey I did tonight (and none for the last couple of days so all my surveys have been credited) and I was signed in before the survey so I knew the balance both before and after. I was also paying closer attention because I felt like this happened a few days ago, but passively doing surveys while watching TV I couldn't be too sure, but now it seems confirmed.

Not worth it to constantly take screen shots and follow up on EVERY survey... :(

I have noticed in the app sometimes when I fail out of a survey, the new option that loads will show the previous reward "$5"! Even if it is really only a .25 survey, so in my experience I guess I am receiving the intended credit, it just isn't showing the proper reward on the initial screen. That's how I understand it, anyways

crimsona Feb 10, 2016 9:01 am

Not sure if others notice the same thing, but for me the first survey after finding a new one will show the same reward as the original link, but in reality has a different incentive value.

In the situation above where the stated value was 7, in my case, that meant the original emailed link was 7 too

Not worth it to take screen shot of every survey and to chase the posting.

My policy from now on is do NOT click on the next survey once being disqualified the first one.

Instead, return to the email and use the link there - it then would bring up the next survey available! I tried this after the failing of posting of the $7 and saw the email brought up the next survey being $7!

Somehow the cookies seem to migrate and therefore attaching the previous offer to the next offer. dont know how to combat this other than NOT go thru the next survey and start all over.

It really doesn't matter what the value of the next survey is for me, because I'd probably end up doing it anyways, so I just consider it a surprise lol

Hairbus380 Feb 11, 2016 12:15 pm

It works both ways.

Plus, if you close an available survey, there is no guarantee it will be there if you go back and click again.

Happy Feb 11, 2016 6:01 pm

It happened again!

Had 2 nonqualifiers then led to a lengthy 20 min JD Power survey which successfully completed with the Congrat screen. NO posting of the $5 promised :td: but the 0.25 for the 2 unsuccessful ones posted.

I took a screen shot on the 3rd one and then the screen shot of the Congrat screen. Tomorrow would send e-Rewards the inquiry if the $5 not posted and I dont think it would as they always posted immediately.

thelostshark Feb 11, 2016 6:38 pm

I received an offer of $2.00 for a 40 minute survey today. Gotta be the worst ratio of $/time I've ever received. Did not click on that one .... tls

Next time click that and quickly disqualify yourself if it still offers 0.25. ;)

Nice to see that HHonors redemption is still instantaneous.

Any experience[s] how long will EY miles take?

e-rewards outside country

I used e-rewards for years. I signed up for it in the US and most of the time I did the surveys from the US. Last year I was outside of the country so I was using a VPN service to access the surveys. That was working okay throughout the time I was away. I was then back in the US late last year until just a couple of weeks ago and everything worked fine. I left the US again in early February and assumed that the VPN thing would work but now even with the VPN on and after checking for an IP leak (there is none) the surveys always send me an error that I am outside the country from which the survey was intended. I tried to clear the cache of my browser but that did not help either. Has anyone been successful getting these to work with some kind of tweak?

Clearing your cache doesn't matter, but they seem to set cookies, so you should clear them after any time that you get an outside US error. I would guess that maybe you're using a VPN that they know about and are specifically treating as non-US because it's a known gateway from overseas.

goldencondor Feb 15, 2016 6:43 am

Not had any invites for a couple of weeks. Frustrating!

I've 30 old emails stored away for this eventuality. Alas, no hidden surveys could be found.

I've been doing the same thing and nothing seems to work. I've tried several VPNs & proxies & Firefox unblock extensions (free ones) and they seem to know you are not in the USA. I've Googled and see that Netflix also found a way to block VPNs & proxies so I think that at least the surveymyopinion ones are using the same technology. Very frustrating for expat Americans!

amanuensis Feb 15, 2016 5:18 pm

It will be interesting when I am in the UK and Canada later this year to see if using the VPN of the corporation I work for does the trick. Only employees of the company have the ability to use that VPN, so it is probably not on the radar of e-Rewards. If nonetheless e-Rewards blocks it, that would tell me that the technology they use is not based on a white-list or black-list of public VPN IP ranges.

I bet you'll be fine. Connecting to a private proxy in the USA still works as it always has.

Even Netflix seems to be just gradually adding to a blacklist. It wouldn't surprise me if e-rewards is just buying Netflix's list of IPs. Another possibility is that they are doing by quantity of connections. If 100 users connect to e-rewards from the same IP address, it's probably a VPN or a big company and it wouldn't be too hard to work out which.

Finally got some surveys again, and refreshingly, E-Rewards have added a 'Find a Survey' button on the home page.

Interesting, I don't see the "Find a Survey". I have that on the app, but not on the website. Can you take a screen shot and show us?

I'm using the website. The button is greyed out when you've used it.

Just an update on this - the button becomes clickable again the following day. So you should get at least one survey every day.

I've used my e-rewards account to buy United miles. Is it safe to use it to buy my wife United miles?

charlesonmission Feb 19, 2016 5:59 pm

I don't think so... in fact, I doubt the order would even fully process.

It wouldn't let you on the same account because it remembers if you redeemed within the last 30 days. However on the 31st or 32nd day you can change the account name and transfer to her United.

So it's simply a matter that you can't redeem twice within 30 days?

Yes, but you need to change the E-rewards account name to match the United account name

Tilly71 Feb 23, 2016 12:18 pm

Has anyone noticed a lack of surveys in the last two days? I click on the orange available survey button in my account but it always comes back as no surveys available & I have tried all old email survey links?

Yep, I've got the same problem with the survey button. Trying the old emails now.

IamHydro Feb 24, 2016 7:21 am

I did a "Coffee Survey" that lasted 2 weeks and it hasn't even given me the option to look for new surveys. Now the coffee survey is over (still no credit), and the only thing showing on the App is the old coffee survey.

Tilly71 Feb 25, 2016 7:19 am

Was that survey involving keeping a diary, if so I got offered that but it was only offering money where as I do the surveys for miles. It wanted to access my pc but I use a laptop so no go!

Tilly71 Feb 25, 2016 10:43 am

Hi, I've been doing erewards for just over a month now and all was going really well until last week my surveys just seem to dry up. Now I'm not getting any invites via email and I get one opportunity a day in my account, is this normal after a month of joining?

That is, alas, part and parcel of being an E-Rewards member. I go through phases of getting no emails at all for weeks on end, and then they suddenly start up again. I thought they'd solved that with the addition of a 'find survey' button on the website, but this week, clicking it barely finds any.

Even my plan B of using old emails doesn't work anymore.

Happy Feb 26, 2016 6:33 pm

Is the balance not updated in real time and only the next day to include your successful survey's earning?

After a few successful surveys did not post (those were led from initial non-successful survey then eventually one fully completed but miles not posted), I started to make screen shots of high value surveys and the completion screens, and checked the account activities after completion.

Today I notice that the account balance does not change even though the successful survey did post. (an improvement from a couple weeks ago). I never pay attention to this so not sure if this is always the case. So I need to check tomorrow to make sure the balance is updated.

It always varies in posting time. Ideally it is within a few minutes.. Sometimes a day or so
