Update: On Feb 23 & 24 I redeemed for 4,000 IHG points each day. When they posted on Feb 28 they were non-qualifying. I immediately sent an email to IHG Guest Services, and received a non-committal reply that said "I have submitted this matter to one of our specialist for further verification. Rest assured that we will give you an update as soon as we receive a response from them. We apologize for any inconvenience."
One week later, with no further response, I wrote them again, requesting that they adjust the deposit to reflect that the points are elite qualifying. Within 24 hours I received the following:
"Beginning 22 February 2017, e-Rewards have made changes to their policies and this includes e-Reward points to be posted as non-qualifying points. We believe that e-Reward will disseminate this change soon to their members. As an exception, we would be depositing points as qualifying points until e-Rewards has made members aware of the new policy.
You would see on your account that we have taken out the points that were previously deposited by e-Rewards. You will then see another activity on your account that we have deposited the 8,000 points as elite qualifying points.
We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you as we value your patronage. Should you require further assistance, please feel free to contact the IHG Rewards Club Service Center again."
My account was in fact adjusted and the points are now listed as qualifying.

Oh this is getting interesting...
They did the Loyalty GoodWill Points adjustment for me, too, BUT only for Feb 21 points. Feb 28 points are still NON EQ. But now that I've read your story, I am going to write them re: Feb 28 points, too. Don't expect them to adjust my account yet again but who knows..........
By the way, still don't understand what they mean by: "we would be depositing points as qualifying points until e-Rewards has made members aware of the new policy."???
e-Rewards doesn't seem to care at all at the moment.

I emailed them and they advised "On 21 February 2017, IHG Rewards Club has excluded E-Rewards points as Elite Qualifying points." They converted a part of my recent points to elite qualifying but not all of them.
