Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I was very impressed when I walked into the cabin, it looks beautiful & after looking around my seat, there was definitely a lot of attention to detail to make the seats more comfortable and passenger friendly. However after spending some time in the cabin & my seat, I began to notice how tight and small the space was in general - both the cabin & the seat area.
I guess it's because of all the panels and doors of the suite, which takes up quite a bit of space.
The galley area looks tight, so it must be hard for the cabin crew to prepare the meals & drinks etc.
The worst seat has to be 1 E/F which is immediately outside the lav so best to avoid that at all cost.
I was told that the 77W Qsuites cabin is slightly larger than the A351 so that might be a better option. I've yet to try that but I'll be on the DOH-LAX flight later this month so it would be interesting to compare the feeling of space in the 77L vs. the A351
Finally, I won't be picking a rear facing seat in the future, I got a little bit nauseous & uncomfortable during take off & during the flight, it just felt weird to be sitting facing in the "wrong" direction. Had to constantly remind myself that it's no big deal, even when I was sleeping.
The landing was fine, especially since I didn't miss the usual "jerking forward" motion so that was the best part.
Overall an awesome experience on an awesome aircraft. If only all my long haul flights could be on a Qsuite

Where would you sit if travelling with significant other on Qsuites?
On our first qsuite leg we are doing the center two seats for the double bed. On our second 4hr qsuite leg I am debating if it's worth trying out the rear facing window seats.
Are they better?

I had no problems with BA’s Club World rear facing window seats but perhaps Qsuites are different because the confines of a suite will provide even less external visual clues?

Personally, I get car-sick easily, and can't ride in the back seat of a car without getting terribly nauseous and uncomfortable, or anywhere on a bus where I can't see forward out the window, or sitting backwards on a train. On airplanes, I get that way during taxi, but not in flight. I'm surprised @kaffir76 had a problem during flight, but I'm sure everyone's sensitivity is different.

I'd never take the rear facing seats on a train either, or if I had to, I'd position myself sideways or something so that the backward motion wouldn't affect me too much.
It wasn't a problem per se once airborne, though I'd constantly remind myself that I'll be fine etc. (once I fell asleep, I didn't feel anything & I slept for quite a while - such is the beauty of the QSuites seat)
Anyway, I've chosen the forward facing seats for next week to LAX - so let's see how that goes.
