Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I mean the EF seat map under flight availability section. I have yet booked the ticket, so when I'm referring to QR site I mean the information that shows cabin feature pre-booking. Sorry for the confusion.

Since EF pulls the data from what QR has loaded in the GDS, I believe it would be more current. Once booked, EF and QR booking management seat selection map should both show the same data.

ATCOlad said that ams-doh will have Q Suites till at least November 7, but Qatarairways, com shows 177 degree decline (under Flight and Cabin Features) and on all dates I checked before November 7...

So is expertflyer the only way of finding out what plane Qatar is scheduled to use (I know the scheduled plane is not always the plane you will actually be in)?

QR 171/172 DOH-ARN and VV mid-November are no longer QSuites
Just got EF aircraft change alerts that QR 171 DOH-ARN and QR 172 ARN-DOH in mid-November are now back to now back to non-QSuite A359s.

Guessing you mean 171/172.
Unlucky... 1 and 12 November have switched back to the 1-2-1 layout. All other November dates are *currently* showing as Qsuite (although no doubt subject to further changes!).

Flew Qsuites DOH-ORD and was very impressed. QR has noticeably improved not only the hard product but the soft product as well. I don't fly QR all that much, maybe once every 2 years. My previous flights have been OK, nothing special. Years ago QR FAs were stiff and formal, almost unhappy. That has changed. This flight was great, more like F than J---friendly and proactive FAs, quite edible food elegantly served, and the door somehow caused me to sleep much better.
Only thing I hated was the map display, which was constantly interrupted by 'smoking not allowed' and other messages.

I had my first experience of QSuites recently (13/10) QR0006 LHR > DOH. I had seat 10A, so one of the window seats with the seat closer to the window rather than the isle. I think this is a recent change for this service. I think I've flown most of Qatar's aircraft types and seats.
Positives
Privacy
Comfort
Snack menu additions - although order plenty as some of them are pretty small!
Small negatives
Getting attention is so much more difficult! The crew struggle to see and serve you effectively. Perhaps I need to change my reluctance to use the call bell to get attention.
Lacks communal / bar space of A380 - although depends on your priorities for your flight
Can feel quite dark and enclosed. Felt quite stuffy

Note: A bit strange that EF seat map config is more up to date than the QR booking site, where it still shows 177 degrees recline on the seat info. (this is pre-booking)
