Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

In theory, "new aircraft alert" works. I understand that it uses the aircraft code that generates the seat map.

Yes, the "Aircraft Change" alert is designed to generate an alert if the aircraft type or seating configuration changes.

Seat controls freeze
Hi, currently on board my first Q suites configured flight.
A few hours into the flight, my seat and the one behind had the controls become non-responsive.
Apparently, in these early days, this happens often.
Today, both responded to manual levers under the seat, which some staff are aware of.
This does not always work as a temporary fix however.
Rest of the flight, I need to call staff to manually move seat up and down etc.

That would really annoy me. I've only had one QSuites flight, and no problems. That said, I'm just as happy with the window seats on the 359 and 388. It would be nice if those plates of small bites from QSuites aircraft were also available on the 388 and 359 in J.

I believe the EF free service is limited to a subset of seat alerts. All other services require a paid service, although I believe EF offers a free trial of the paid service. Years back, when I first signed up for EF, I wasn't sure it was worth it, but I find that now that I have it, I use it all the time for all sorts of queries and alerts.

I could be wrong, but every flight I have searched between AMS-DOH between now and april 2019 appears to be an old 777 (seat pitch 78 inches, seat recline 177 degree recline)?

Every flight between now and Nov 7th is Q Suite. Then it gets very sporadic for a while, December is fairly heavily Q Suite and then in Jan its all Q Suite except Mondays & Thursdays. QSuite =77P and non being 77N/ I on Qr cargo site.

Does that mean that the Qatar website is incorrect. It shows a 777-300ER with "177 degree recline" and "Seat width 21.82 inches" on e.g. Nov 6th (same as on Nov 8th). That does not sound like a Q suite?

I presume by EF you mean the seat map function of EF. Which function of the QR web site do you mean? Booking management seat assignment or something else?
