Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

I'm visiting Maldives in October. I noticed after booking that near the end of October, DOH<->MLE is now showing the old business class seat map. I figure this is probably just a placeholder that will change closer to the time, but I figured I'd ask if QR has a history of running non-Qsuite 777s on MLE routes outside peak season.

Many thanks.

Well had my flight from DOH to IAD cancelled two weeks out. Lucky enough to rebook on another flight to ORD but man...that was not a good feeling.

It looks like the availability dries up roughly 2 weeks before WC starts. With games running until Dec-18, I wonder if they'll open up availability after that? Was banking on trying to grab one-way QSuites around 12/20~23 timeframe, but might need to think of alternatives.

Aren't reward seats on QR over the Christmas and New year holiday period usually impossible to find, without the bonus of the detritus of the WC and mopping up people and cargo needing to get home?

Has anyone used a usb cable to connect to the IFE and watch movies from their ipad/iphone? I found a few comments about android needing an HDMI cable but I didn't see anything about apple products.

You will need to us an HDMI cable, along with a Lightning/USBc to HDMi adapter on the ipad/iphone.

Expert Flyer shows it's currently scheduled to be operated by a non-Qsuite A359.

Are there any real differences between 777 qsuites and a350 qsuites or mostly the same?

Depends what you count as "real." There's plenty of posts in this thread discussing it. The biggest differences are: 777s have significantly better lavatory-to-passenger ratio and individual air nozzles over center seats, along with overhead bins for center seats (except for row 1 on 77W). A350s have higher cabin air pressure (lower cabin altitude) and are quieter.

On the A350-900, would you choose 7A/K or 9A/K? Solo.

On the 777-200LR, would you choose 8A/K or 10A/K?
