Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

ATL getting Qsuites

Just was reviewing a booking for next May, which originally had non-Qsuite A350-900's, from ATL and noticed they've now changed to Qsuite B777-200LR's.

Still have non-Q B777-200LR's for a trip in March, but one can always wish.

Edit: also, could someone explain why almost every seat is blocked?

ATL is not a Qsuite route but it is consistently operated by a 777 so they may be finally rettrofitting the final 2 777. As for the block, my understand is middle seats are blocked for the quad experience. If you have 2 persons you would have to call in and get middle seats.

I booked round trip J awards via AA and on both legs I was able to select E-F middle seats for me and my wife on the QR site. Didn’t need to call in

Correct. You only need to call in if the members of your group are on different PNRs. If all booked under the same PNR, then online seat selection of the quads is available.

We're same PNR's and that screenshot is for the day we fly out of ATL. We are the blued-out seats in 3A and 5A

Open the reservation in the app or on QR .com, you will see the middle block available. EF is just querying the system with out a reference, so it shows as blocked.

Oh, I got the seats I want. The wife and I spend enough time together sitting side-by-side on airplanes, now that I'm retired, that a quiet Qsuite, or a 1-2-1 configuration, works quite nicely.

I was just curious as to why they blocked all of the center seats as I remember in the fall before we left for the Maldives, I could book the windows or the close together center seats, but not the "divorce" center seats. Just curious.

I was finally able to select seats via the RJ website - but kept getting errors about duplication of Frequent flier numbers as mentioned here:
Seat selection on Qatar with QF award booking

When I look at my res - I see a second listed AA FFN below my real AA FFN. For both of us that second number is the same. I guess i shouldn't try to go in and delete that out? On the QR site I would just see the second duplicated FFN, but never my own, and if I updated and corrected it, the info was never saved even when it said it was. Ideas?

My flight from PHL-DOH in September just had an equipment change to 777 with Qsuites. Looks like the change affects flights starting May 1, so you might want to check your flight.

Call QR, they can change it. Why do you want to change it in the first place? Its an award?

We had no issues booking middle seats on 3 of our legs - YUL > DOH ; DOH > BKK ; DOH - YUL...……..nothing was blocked out? It's our first time flying QR so not sure which seats are the best. We originally booked all middle seats together but then I changed one of the flights to the single window seats to try it out.

Was able to snag 4 J tickets KGL-DOH-LAX on two separate PNR's. I was able to get the 3EF for one PNR online and then 4DG on the other online as well. After reading this thread was concerned and called to make sure we wouldn't get bumped. They linked the two PNR's so we are good to go. Looking forward to our QSuite Quad experience.
