Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I agree with this 100%, except for a few routes where qsuites are all but guaranteed, such as a DOH-JFK. In those cases, where one has an option of a 350 or 77W, I’d probably pick the 77W flight knowing that the chances of an aircraft swap is slim to none. However, those routes are def pretty rare and not the norm.

I'm currently booked NRT-MUC via DOH on 77W.
I now have the option of flying HND-MUC on 359.
HND is obviously closer. But there are several preferences for the 777 over A350.
NRT also leaves at ~ 10pm, vs HND at 12.05am. Which is perhaps a slightly better time, and a slightly longer lounge layover.
Any thoughts?

The CAN 777 just changed to non-QSuite. Good thing I stuck with PVG

Just flew the Q suite from BLR to PHL, and on both flights could not get my phone to play downloaded Netflix with a HDMI cable. The screen mirroring worked, but the moment I started a video, I got an error notice. Any ideas?

Hi Guys,
New to q suites. Wife and I will be doing our third trip in Dec. What are the advantages/disadvantages of being in the forward vs the rear q suite compartment?
We just landed in Philly, and our first leg was 7e/f on a 777 and was close to the galley. The second leg was 3e/f on a 350. It was good.
Finally, where are the bassinets located for the q suites? In the 350 and the 777? Want to totally avoid that area.

I think on iPhone, there's a "feature" with the Apple HDMI cable that doesn't let you play Netflix and certain other content because it can't do the HDCP protection, in which case you have to "stream" from the phone to a remote device (with that little "share" icon thingy).
Not sure about Android though (sorry).

Agree with many of the above posts...victim of a swap yesterday DOH-LAX. Q suites on outbound, then swapped less than 24 hours before on return, so no chance to switch flights (which I would have done given a flexible schedule)...the result was a whole bunch of really upset business passengers in the cabin- they (like I) were complaining repeatedly to the poor crew who tried to move a bunch of folks around to at least get an empty seat next to them in the old 2-2-2 config. which is so utterly inferior in every way. I understand logistical needs but it cannot be smart business practice to sell one product and show that product seat config for months and months out, and then swap at last minute. Your random J pax may not notice but any savvy flyer, likely the most frequent, will be irritated....multiple other carrier choices with aisle access and flat bed...just a long term way to lose business for QR. The soft product is terrific so it's really sad to see. Combined with zero available seating in business lounge at DOH (completely packed at 6-7am and as a OWE no access to first lounge without upcharge), I won't be flying QR again anytime soon. I first flew QR in 2002 and they have come a huge way, but still not reliable to be the first choice.

You must have been remarkably unlucky. That route is operated by 77Ls, and my recollection is that QR only has one 77L which has not yet been converted to QSuites.

I seem to recall that two out of the nine 77L are still non qusuite (A7-BBF and A7-BBH). They look to operate these two a lot between Atlanta and Doha.
I really wish Qatar would update them but they seem to have completely stalled on the 77W and 77L refits. We don’t seem to have any inside knowledge on the board of a schedule but I wonder if poor finances are behind the delays in rolling out the updated cabin.

How was the video quality? If the movie was downloaded for viewing on a phone, it might suffer when viewed on a larger screen.

I haven't used/tried in iOS 13.x yet, so it's possible apple fixed it. I know I tried it in iOS 12.something and the same problem existed, so I gave up and went 'streaming' (much lower quality)
Google for it and Netflix and you'll find all sorts of articles (not just NetFlix either, my Tivo downloads stopped working as well).

Netflix CLAIMS it'll work/supported, but YMMV:

Lack of individual air nozzles is disappointing. I'm often hot on planes, and find it difficult to sleep when hot. Individual air nozzles are a great solution, since those who are hot can open theirs, while those who are not can leave theirs closed. The air coming out of the nozzles is generally noticeably colder than the ambient cabin air, so helps a lot.
I suppose with the added privacy of the QSuite I could sleep shirtless.
