Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

The Q Suite Master Thread

This is quite a bummer the recent posts about US/Doha flights being swapped from Q Suites. I was coming on now to ask if these swaps I have ever heard of happen for the US and I see they do. I thought it was more within the ME wehre maybe a 777 Q Suites get swapped out for a 2-2-2 version. Or even HK & BKK I know I have read of some swaps out of Q Suites.
If a route is listed as an A350-1000 does that increase the chance of NOT being swapped given there are No 351's with out Q Suites or is this logic not the case? LA and JFK are the only 2 cities that are exclusively 351's so I was thinking I could do JFK...........Sadly, LA is not avail. I have the whole trip planned and set so I am locked into my return day. My options are Dallas, SFO or Chicago. I cant decide which to go with .
DFW would be the longest flight- not outbound but i guess due to head winds and not taking the polar route maybe? I mean from SFO its listed the same out or back but Dallas is an hour less out but an hour more back. So I was thinking DFW to get the longest plane time to enjoy it all and have a FL upon arrival. However, ORD would get me an FL too and is still a 15 hour flight .SF i am closer to home in LA but no FL upon arrival. I will check weekly until April and hope to see LA open up so I can just switch to my home city and get the A351 which I feel/hope wont be swapped.
The DFW flight is showing a 77L which means 772 right? ORD is showing that as well while SFO is showing a A359. All those planes have non Q Suites versions.
I dont want to be swapped and want to put myself in the best position for this not to happen. It would be such a let down to fly 2-2-2 home when expecting Q Suites.

Hi, got a few questions. If you can answer any of them, that would be great
What is that whatsapp # please?
We fly LAX-DXB in Jan. Haven't paid the up-charge for the Qsuite seat choices yet on A350-1000 (QR 740)
If I do, and they swap out for 222 config, do they refund you for those seat choices? Is this particular flt/plane usually swapped out?
Also, still no lounge at LAX for Qatar business class? I get different info from different sources.
Thx

CPT - West Coast USA
Any thoughts on most reliable Q-Suites route? Looked at the wiki and quite a bit on the thread. Longest ride looks like would be CPT-DOH-LAX with near guaranteed Q-S but understandably subject to change. Any thoughts on better chance going through JNB (even though not listed on wiki)? What about DOH-SEA or SFO? Saw the messages below looks like SEA could be a toss up.
Also confused with if we are no status holders are we (wife and I) able to get middle seats by calling in and requesting or would have to pay?
Finally, from my understanding a 24 he stopover in Qatar isn’t allowed on an AA mile ticket correct?

Correct. On an AA award the connection must be shorter than 24 hours (23:59 is OK).

Unfortunately, QR can and does swap between different types of planes as well as different configurations. Just because a route is currently served by an A351 or 77W doesn't mean it can't be served by an A359 or 77L. As long as an aircraft can fly the route length, QR could use it.
Depends on the booking inventory (RBC). If it's 'P' or 'R', then you'd have to pay to select any seats in advance, or can wait until 24 hours before and select them for free on a QR-issued ticket. If it's a non-QR ticket (e.g., an AA award) you may have to call or Twitter DM to ask QR for the seats. If it's 'I' or 'D' or 'J' you can pick seats for free, but if it's a non-QR ticket you may need to ask QR for the seats. If you aren't entitled to free seats, you could always try one of the work-around ways, such as using the QR PNR on Finnair or Royal Jordanian or another OneWorld airline that uses Amadeus and see if it will let you pick seats. You can also try that for a non-QR ticket.

Good info, thanks. How do i get around the silly QR web site glitch for AA award bookings where you cant see the seat map? Or is there no getting around that? The stupid contact info request glitch comes up of course. I got that by on the FinAir site and now I can at least see my res on QR but no seat map, no changing seats. Do they just not allow you to change seats online for AA award bookings? Or is any award booking other than with QR miles/points? Its the only airline you cant see a darn seat map for the flight you are confirmed on.

Thanks for the tip !
I think its funny that back on the QR site I still cant get past the contact info. screen even though I was able to get in on Malaysia, update info & see the seat map.
I am now headed to Finnair site since I know if I update my contact info there it always then fixes the QR glitch.
I dont get how QR doesnt fix this, its a total joke that one cant see their reservation and just gets the contact info glitch and has to call and sit on hold for a long time (if they dont know about the Finnair work around). Or maybe some ppl just dont care as long as they can see it on their AA app.
