Personally I would go with AA
  • I have purchased 3 RTWs off AA and have no problems, even with major re-routes
  • Whereas my 1 RTW off QF had quite a few, relatively minor, problems - and all I was ever doing was simple date changes

they had shown me a printscreen from the GDS for farerule on Dec 1.
so we will let it slide.

we just hoped to get LHR DME LHR middle east for enough tier point for my niece since LHR DME is 140. we plan to swap to LHR MLA LHR AMM/DOH for 80 tier point each, and my niece will end up with 1480 tier points (need to find another 20 tier points in 6 months (Sept 18-Feb 19) to keep her BA gold for 3rd year.)

they are not excited to go to russia anyways

DONE on QR - QR WONT REROUTE AT THEIR OWN COST + MAKING LEGAL CLAIM

Hi Guys

I already posted a question in the QR flight disruption forum, but everyone there seems to be interested in how to properly pronounce Qatar. Silly but true https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/29012874-post1493.html

QR been giving me the run around. They promised a while a go to reoute at their cost and then a month ago when i decided to finialise the rest of my trip they told me they withdrawn the offer (without telling me)

they do offer to make me pay rerouting fee USD125, reissuance fee HKD80 and all new taxes which is a bugger for BA business flights as I HAVE A DONE3

the last sectors are as follows

BOM-xDOH-DXB

and they suggest BOM-xLHR-DXB - crazy but true, dont mind the transit in London but BA and LHR business taxes are eye watering

Thinking of buying another one way ticket from BOM on a one world carrier if possible and taking them to small claims tribunal.

do they have any defence to get out of this

you can reroute to mct or another airport in Oman (near the border) easily and cheaper, QR is not willing to waive the rerouting fee?

QR was able to reroute bom x doh x mct dxb, right?

Is there a way to know which bucket the RTW fare books to, e.g. BA J or BA I, same for AA, etc? It makes a difference when calculating EQMs for crediting to AS, sometimes a big one.

In general the fare buckets are:
- A for First Class
- D for Business Class
- L for Economy Class

There are some specific exceptions, such as
  • Most AA domestic First Class books into D not A
  • Some domestic flights on certain carriers (JL for example) book into different classes - the details are in the Fare Rules which are available on Oneworld.com

There is no O/W operated flight from LHR to MLA. BA fly from LGW on that route. You could fly to HEL instead and still be within the rules and earn 80 tier points each way.

Note in some origins there is currently IONE3 available that books into I class in most cases, so it depends on whether you buy DONEx or IONE3. Ex-Taiwan the fare difference is minimal.

If you have ExpertFlyer you can look up the Booking Code Exceptions table. I think the information used to be also duplicated in the fare rules. Let us know if you have a specific marketing carrier in mind.

e.g., for AA DONEx fares:

Code:

>$LB1
001 LONLON 05NOV17 AA GBP 5471.00 DONE3    STAY---/12MBK-D
FARE CLS  EXPLANATION                            BOOK CODES
--------  ----------------------                ----------
DONE3    BUSINESS CLASS AROUND THE WORLD FARES    D
DONE3    APPLIES FOR ROUND TRIP FARES
DONE3    FOR ADULT

 BOOKING CODE EXCEPTIONS
VIA AA  D    REQUIRED      WHEN AVAILABLE  D- FARES
VIA AA  P    PERMITTED    D- FARES
VIA AA  L    PERMITTED    D- FARES
VIA AA  H    REQUIRED      D- FARES

Wondering if anyone actually did try legal action - in small claims tribunals etc?

It feels like they forcing me to refund, but will only give me the taxes back

Thank you. And how does AA calculated EQDs on a fare like this, where I might be flying a portion of flights this year and some next year?

I updated the wiki above with a complete list of booking class and also fixed the affiliate list.
