While the rules state that you can start in either the US or Canada and end in the other (ie, treating both as a single country), you still need to enter the same port as start/end to find the fares.

Time and date change never incurs a fee, based on rules. Should ask AA which rule says a fee is required for time change.

You find round-the-world and other circle fares by entering the same city for the start and ending cities.

If you want to end at a different city, that's fine but the circle fare from the origin back to the origin still applies.

Additionally you should enter city codes (e.g., YTO/Toronto) not airport codes (e.g., YYZ/Toronto Pearson Intl.) although EF is usually fairly forgiving of mixing them up.

That was last year.
I asked a lounge agent at DFW about changing the PDX-LAX flight the following Sunday night. The agent entered the request in the system and called the ticket office, who then said it was subject to the change fee. I challenged it and ticketing wouldn't give more details to support their claim (even though I could easily pull up the fare rules). When I pushed back and said it was meant to be a free change, they didn't do it and the agent reverted the flights. But didn't do it right (kept the new flight in as pending) which then confused my travel agent when I pushed it back to her to sort out.

This time, I'm wanting to change AA8890 (CX691) [0810 HKG departure] to AA8899 (CX711) [1640 HKG departure] on the same date.
Just asked the LAX QF F lounge agent, who called the CX gate staff (closing out their lunch time LAX departure), who said to talk to AA... :eek::(:confused:

Still have some time to make the change (~3 weeks). Lots of availability currently (D1 and D0 on the current morning flight codes, D9 and D7 on the afternoon flight codes).

Yes. I do know how to check RTW fare from any city. no problem seeing done fare from MPM, etc.

just nothing on oneworld fare when i search either YVR LAX or YYZ on expertflyer.

I just checked EF for oneworld fares from each of those 3 cities.
35+ results for each. Filtered to only AA filed fares and all classes.

Yes, it is important to filter by airline in EF fare searches
Otherwise all fares for all airlines in all alliances could/should be returned
But EF then usually only shows the first 20 or so results, which may not include any OW fares

very strange. no result when i search if i filter to aa.

Okay. Problem solved.

Normally, instead of narrowing down to an airline like AA, I narrow down by choosing business class (since I am interested in DONE fare in all airlines, some airlines may not file a fare from certain locations).

So it returns no entry if i dont specify airline but specify cabin.

once i have specified AA only with any cabin, it does return result.

Remove the cabin selector, it doesn’t work properly. Filter by cabin on the results page.

didnt know the cabin selector does not work properly.. learn something new everyday
