I'll have to move up a trip by a few days to get the 12,500 miles in the next 90 days, but I'm impressed with how quickly I got a response.

Also, your US flights will count toward the status match challenge as well: EQM and EQS are earned on United, United Express, Ted and the Star Alliance members listed below: Adria Airways | Air Canada | Air New Zealand | All Nippon Airways | Asiana | Austrian Airlines Group | Blue1 | bmi | Croatia Airlines | LOT Airlines | Lufthansa | SAS | Singapore Airlines | South African Airways | Spanair | Swiss International Air Lines | TAP Portugal | THAI | US Airways | Varig |

I know the answer to this is probably no, but is there anybody who has or knows of someone who got comped a level higher than their current on status on another airline. I'm will be gold on aa through a challenge by august and have enough flights coming up to complete plt challenge in Nov./Dec. However, I'd rather fly united since it serves my hometown airport. Since it sounds like united is requiring people to do challenge-like runs to keep their comped status, do you think I would have a shot at getting comped to premier, but then put on their 90 day premier exec. challenge? I know this is a long shot, but I'd rather not fly another 10,000mi. on aa to get plt. and then wait to get comped to premier exec. on united next year. What do you guys think? Should I even submit this request?

CO Plat, status match to US or UA
Thought this thread would be a good place to keep this. I found a more recent fax number in another thread for a US Airways status match but didn't see it in here: 480-693-8024
Not sure if inlight of their "Try Preferred Out" for a fee promotion if they'll still match. |
To status match or not to status match?
I really can't decide so thought I'd post this question here.
Currently CO Plat (125% bonus miles on each flight) already requalified for next year... My travel for the next 3-5 months has me on a CO regional jet. Or I could fly US on a larger plane. I occassionaly fly UA internationally (maybe twice a year at most). Most other times I'm on CO (95% of my travel). Should I A - Maximize my miles with CO - just stick with them? B - Spread to UA - have them match me (100% bonus miles) and not be able to get FC upgrades on US? C - Open an account with US, have them status match (looks like only up to their plat which is 75% bonus miles) so that I have a chance of flying 1stclass over the next few months but frankly earning miles I'd probably only use on partner airlines? Any Status matchees out there have a suggestion? |
Tough question which really comes down to personal preference. If you could maintain the status somewhat over the next few years and it's not a one time thing I would do it. If you would just earn the status this year and never use it again, I wouldn't, just because miles mean a lot to me and they seem kind of wasted.

No to US

Any Status matchees out there have a suggestion? If this is just temporary, then I would just stick it out with CO and earn 125% bonus. You should only do the status match if you're going to stick with it for a few years as lucky pointed out. However, if you are going to be always exceeding requal as CO Plat and fly UA internationally at least 1-2 times a year, then I can see adding UA and maintaining status on UA after a status match. |
Matching on AA from DL-PT or US-CM?
After noodling it over for a while now, I decided that I'm going to try AA instead of UA. Do people know the phone number to call to try to get matched on AA? And do people have experience with getting matched on AA from DL Platinum or US Chairman's?
Also, I've read here that Priority Club will match - any experiences on how far up they'll match if coming from SPG Platinum? Thanks! |

Thanks! AA doesn't do status match's, they have challenges. I did a Platinum challenge and completed it on one international trip and have never looked back. You can call the regular AA Advantage Number to get signed up for the challenge. |
Best choice for status match?
I am currently a UA Premier Exec, and on track to regain 1K this year.
However, my new job requires me to visit Amsterdam (and India) 4-6 times a year, and I was trying to figure out if I should go for a status match with one of the Skyteam airlines, so I can fly directly to Amsterdam rather than through Frankfurt or Vienna. What I can't figure out is which airline to request a match with - NW or KLM? Or if there's any reason to even look at DL or CO. One potential problem I see is that NW Gold Elite does not provide access to airline lounges when traveling in economy, unlike UA, where Prem Exec is sufficient. Any suggestions / ideas most appreciated. Thanks, |

Stick with UA, fly the incremental miles over 100k, and earn additional SWUs for use on MKE-ORD-AMS. It's not as though you'll be in great shape for upgrades with Skyteam, UA allows upgrades on lower fares.. has more seats to upgrade into.. and is updating their fleet with better seats to boot. Plus the miles you earn are much more valuable than those on Skyteam airlines. |

UA Prem Exec vs NW

Actually, I tend to fly Lufthansa and Austrian more often because I can get much cheaper consolidator fares. United does not seem to favor consolidators at all. NW/KLM, on the other hand, is even cheaper than Lufthansa. (BTW: all fares in business class). |

If so, use systemwides or mileage certs to upgrade to F and enjoy the First Class Terminal in FRA... |

And if so, then stay with UA MP (earning EQM's on OS+LH) and/or go with Miles & More to gain benefit of automatic upgrades with them (they have always upgraded their own members before me, and I have never been upgraded on LH using my UA 1P or UA 1K status) |
Actually, if you're flying paid premium class fares you should consider crediting to a program that rewards such fares ... eg bmi in particular (which has some nice cash + points redemption values) and LH as a second-best. Once you hit bmi gold the points really rack up quickly.

Miles & More Status Match
Hi Folks,
a quick search reveals a lot of information regarding north american airline status matches, including quite a few on Star Alliance carriers. However most of the information regarding European Miles & More Star Alliance status matches is fairly old and negative. Has anybody had success recently in status matches from Qantas Platinum to Austrian/LOT/Lufthansa/Swiss Miles & More plans? Regards Martin |

Yes, when I speak to the ICC, they say Feb 2008; when I get a 1P Agent, Feb 2009. I'd like to believe the 1P line is correct. I asked, are you certain and explained the disparities in my previous responses. She reassured that I will have status all next year by completing the 12,500 miles. I'm requalifying on CO just in case! ;)

Dl status comp or challenge?
Does anyone know if delta is offering a straight status comp or are they still doing their version of the challenge?
|
Really?
I'm new to FT and now that I've lurked for about 2 weeks my wife and I are signing up for the AA Platinum challenge. I'm flying from TPA to San Fran via (TPA-MIA-ORD-LAX-SFO-LAX-ORD-MIA-TPA] in First Class for about 1200 bucks and I'll be Platinum when I'm done, AND get the bonus miles on the flight because I become platinum WHILE FLYING it.. AA isn't soo bad..

Now this is how a Challenge/status match should work. Well done United. ^ I mean, what's the bloody point of doing a challenge/status match if you have to board in zone 6, sit in a middle seat at the back of the bus, get stuck in strange cities because you can't get on a priority waitlist for three months? That describes the AA Platinum Challenge - a highly sub-par experience IMO.:td:
Now that's not so good. |

I was just researching this topic to see what I could get from other airlines, Quick answer is YES (if you're lucky) and here is the info: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...8&postcount=79

Delta Status match
I am a Star Alliance Gold member on Aeroplan and am on my way to 100k this year. I asked for a status match and they kindly said yes they would to Gold.
Seeing as the Medallion Platinum tier is only 75k, I would really to be placed straight to that. I know what I want and what they will give me are two different things but has anyone ever heard of Delta awarding a status match to Platinum? |

United Status Match
What is the most up-to-date and fastest way to get matched to United Premier Executive? I am a US Plt and doing about 35-40k miles in the next couple of months.
Do I need to fax my details to them? Or can I e-mail? One post said to just e-mail [email protected]. Can I just do this? Thanks! |
