HAven't seen that. But for the heck of it, just try and report back! Then we'll all know..

The link to the archived thread on British Midland in the first post no longer works. There's some applicable information in this current one, though:

Do BMI status match?

BTW, the airline has identified itself publicly as "bmi," not "British Midland," since 2003 - though it's still legally British Midland Airways, owned by holding company British Midland plc.

(Pardon me if this has already been mentioned, but a thread search didn't turn up any occurrences of "midland" outside the first post or others quoting it, and "bmi" is too short to be a valid search string.)

I don't think that TG would even entertain this concept...

I just noticed on the first page: "American will consistently match United status to equivalent level up to mid-tier (Platinum)."

Does this mean AA is now offering status match instead of challenge for United Elite? for example 1K. Is there a fax number I can use? Thanks!

That was the case a few years ago ( I was comped from UA), but the only reports on the AA forum these days tend to be from FTers that are comped in via their corporate travel agent. Everyone else seems to be offered a "challenge".

This always sucks, although when I called them a few months ago they said they do it a couple times a year. Has anyone managed calling and getting an exception to the challenge, or advanced status along with a challenge, recently?

No Delta Matches After June 30th???

Delta told me today that their "Other Airline Status Match" promotion runs from June 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

The promotion information stated that if credentials were received before July 1, 2006, then status would be granted only until Feb 2007. If, however, credentials were received on or after July 1, then status would be granted through Feb 2008. (Note, this seems to firmly establish last year's "magic date.")

Presumably, the "magic date" will be the same this summer. The problem, however, is that there is no promotion currently in the system for '07-'08. Is this normal, or is it possible that Delta will no longer offer matches after June 30th?

I'd like to request a match, but only after the "magic date" (in order to gain status through Feb '09). If I wait until July 1st, though, might I be left out in the cold?

flightline Jun 26, 2007 11:56 pm

Response from Delta

Here's the response I got from Delta regarding whether matches will be granted after June 30th.

At this time, the "Other Airline Status Match" promotion will expire
June 30, 2007.
We do not have any information indicating the promotion
will be extended beyond that date. If credentials are sent now, before
July 1, 2007, members receive status through February 2008. There is no
information indicating the program would extend matching beyond February
of next year.

Welcome to Flyertalk! Have you checked the first post of this thread? That does a pretty good job of saying which airlines will match.:)

DL, NW, CO, US. I don't like the "unlimited space available upgrades," personally.

US Gold to UN Gold???? Anyone have luck?

I've searched the thread and read post one, but didn't see much on trying to transfer between partners in the same alliance. My wife is Gold on US and I'm a CP. I'm trying to get her to switch to UN and get gold status, so we get E+ when we fly United and get free upgrades on US.

I'd fly UN more, if this was an option, but not sure if they'll match.

Has anyone had any luck?

I just sent in my last CO Gold OnePass statement on Monday (2 July) to get matched to UA Prem. Ex. We'll see how long it takes to get a response; hopefully not too long as I have UA flights on 13 July! The India call center told me it would be a 90 day trial where I had to accrue 12,500 miles, but a friend who is a UA 1P called in and spoke to a US call center where they told him the normal status match is still in effect. Please PM me if you need any info.

anandrag Jul 5, 2007 7:32 pm

I will requalify for AF/KL Plat this Sun with EWR-DEL in J and then for AA Exec Plt for BOM-LHR-JFK in J on way back. So... looking at switching to *-A for status there. The friendly folks in *-A forum recommend that i status match with bmi over UA or US.

So here are my questions:
* What do I need to send to BMI?
* What level am I likely to get?
* Will there be a challenge or straight match for the year?

Thanks!

Just FYI: The code for United Airlines is UA. UN is Transaero Airlines, one of the first private Russian airlines. It serves Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel and a few destinations in Europe. It is probably not a viable option for most frequent USAir travelers.

DL to NW status match? (apols if I've missed...)

Did a search on Northwest on this thread, but didn't find anything recent on this. Apologies if well-worn ground.

Any idea if NW will do a match from DL, where I'm currently gold. I understand that it is difficult to do CO to NW as they recognise each other's status, but wasn't sure on the situation with DL - same airline partnership, but not reciprocal like CO.

Tks

How long does it usually take to get BD status match? Will send them KL Plat and AA Exec Plat but don't want to request too much before flights in case they give me 90 days challenge

BD does a straight Gold match, not a challenge. Took a couple of days for me in April. Card and Gold kit arrived in about 10 days.

Thanks! Valid till Feb 2008? Will be traveling NYC - BOM on *-A in J. So will get 1.5 qualifying miles for travel? About 12K each way, so will I requal for Gold in 3+ one-ways?

Status is valid for 12 months. Earning rates by carrier and class of travel are at https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/...earnmiles.html

Wow! Double qualifying miles for Business. So, about 16K miles one-way from NYC to BOM (if I go via FRA on LH or via ZRH on Swiss). So roundtrip at 32K and then only need 6K more to requalify for Gold. Pretty sweet

For an update I just received the following email today:

Hello Mr. caseaustin,

Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier Executive status in the Mileage Plus program! This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever.

Your status will be effective for 90 days. To keep the status through February 2008, just earn 12,500 base flight miles or 15 base flight segments on United, Ted or United Express within the 90-day timeframe. Once you meet that threshold, a Premier Executive kit will be generated and mailed. Until you have a card, be sure to add your Mileage Plus number to your reservation in order to fully benefit from your elite status.

To maintain the status throughout all of 2008, you must earn 50,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) or 60 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) by December 31, 2007. EQM and EQS are earned on United, United Express, Ted and the Star Alliance members listed below:
Adria Airways | Air Canada | Air New Zealand | All Nippon Airways | Asiana | Austrian Airlines Group | Blue1 | bmi | Croatia Airlines | LOT Airlines | Lufthansa | SAS | Singapore Airlines | South African Airways | Spanair | Swiss International Air Lines | TAP Portugal | THAI | US Airways

Mileage Plus Elite Status Match

So I guess the normal status match no longer exists. Now the tough decision is do I try to at least make UA Premier status for post February 2008 or do I work on re-qualifying for CO Gold? Not a good start with me flying UA.

gleff Jul 10, 2007 5:59 pm

Any word on whether UA challenges as opposed to status matches are once in a lifetime, or if they can be done multiple times?

FlyingRobot Jul 10, 2007 11:56 pm

UA challenges can be carried out again once your prior status has lapsed. For example, if your status was made gold due to a challenge, you can't retain gold with another challenge, but three weeks after your gold expires, you can request another. (at least this was the case when UA ran MPP597 back in January.)

BA Match ?

Hi All

Have searched this but no luck !! ........ Does anyone know if BA ever status match ? ...... I am VS Gold but likely to change jobs in the near future which will mean flying with BA instead of VS, would be nice to kick start my BA Exec Club membership !!

Cheers
MS

gleff Jul 12, 2007 2:01 pm

They generally only match via corporate agreements (they get a big new corporate contract, they agree to match status of employees who are being forced to switch to BA). In that case they'll match to Gold no difficulties. But as a general rule they do not.

THE soni Jul 12, 2007 2:02 pm

From the first post in the thread... not sure of its current validity...

"Airlines that will not generally match status:

* Air Canada
* Lufthansa
* British Airways - with some exceptions for very significant revenue (per ScottC)
* Air France (per dctorres)
* Cathay Pacific
* Singapore"

Checked the bmi website et voila... GOLD! Exciting although not sure why I am excited. Just makes me top level in all 3 global alliances, which is kind of sad. Guess that is what 6 (7th next week) roundtrips to Asia from NY do to you

I was just comped to gold by NW, but then reading their FF rules, it states you only have international lounge access when you are platinum! :td:

What was the point of that then? Any feedback?

Just change your NW account address to your Singapore address. Ask them to send you a new card - for Asia-Pacific residents the NW GE card comes with free "Access to all WorldClubs and affliliated lounges". Just like a paid WorldClubs membership except that you can take only 1 guest instead of 2.

So I guess the normal status match no longer exists. Now the tough decision is do I try to at least make UA Premier status for post February 2008 or do I work on re-qualifying for CO Gold? Not a good start with me flying UA.

This is troubling to me as well. I'm a lifetime CO Platinum, but I wind up flying the Star Alliance airlines a fair bit. I status matched US in late 2005 (and they gave me 2006 as well), but I lost interest when UA kicked the US elites out of Economy Plus. I currently have a lot of Q4 reservations on UA and US, so I was thinking of trying for a Mileage Plus match -- hoping to carry that status into 2008. But it sounds like this won't work too well for me -- probably about half the miles will be on US, so I might not even get to 12,000 UNITED miles in 90 days.

Is there any other way to play this? Thanks.

I called the UA Prem. Exec. Customer Service line and the agent told me the date is a mistake; that if I match within the 90 days I will have status through Feb 2009. I should probably call again to see if I get the same answer.

Also, your US flights will count toward the status match challenge as well:

Can anyone point me in the direction of the fax number for the bmi status match? Do you need to contact them first, or is it just a matter of faxing through my AA account screen shot in a fax stating my current bmi number and requesting status match?

taxbertacus Jul 26, 2007 10:31 am

UA status match took <4 hours

I sent an email to [email protected] with my AAdvantage info and got the confirmation email of the status match (well, challenge) to Premiere Executive in less than 4 hours. I'll have to move up a trip by a few days to get the 12,500 miles in the next 90 days, but I'm impressed with how quickly I got a response.
