[QUOTE=thecompdude;8550614]I mailed in my documents last week on Friday. And got an email yesterday confirming the status match. I am new 1K flier and got matched to Platinum (as requested)!
Is there a way to find out online, how long this status is valid till?[/QUOTE

Does anyone know if one has to be on a challenge to keep this status or has UA went back to doing straight status matches? Also, if I email [email protected] a pdf copy of my aagold card, will that be good enough for them to match my status? Thx in advance

Help with UA status

All:

Found this thread. Living in PIT with US continually screwing us on flights and service, and having flown mostly on UA connections the last 6 months, I asked UA for status matches for me and family (1 Gold, 3 silvers). Mostly interested in E+ access (since we mostly travel together, and typically cant upgrade 4).

Response was that they wouldnt match my wife and I "since we had a match previously in 2001" and matched other 2 - but its not really a match, its a challenge which has to be met by the end of the year (6250 miles by 12/31/07), have base Premier status until then (but no trips planned).

Questions - I dont recall ever asking for a UA match (Before 2005 I flew on them once in my life - an ANA codeshare from PIT-ORD (on way to NRT). Is it possible it was initiated by them?

Also - are all UA matches now really challenges in disguise? I dont mind it being a challenge, but being given 2 months, especially over t-giving and xmas holidays, is a real steep expectation!

Btw, I've just found out there is some level called 3P which provides E+ access - is there anyone who could nominate me?

Fly2LAX Oct 28, 2007 6:52 pm

I am interested in a status match from Lufthansa Senator to oneWorld (Not AA!)

Is there any way one of the OW airlines does status matches?

I think BA, CX, QF dont :(

But what about AY, RJ, JL, IB or LAN ?

It would come pretty handy for lounge access intra US, too ! Currently I am an Admirals Club member but I dont get drink cupons.

AY or JL would be my favourite because both fly to asia which is my main route.

Any suggestions?

2 month challenge

"Also - are all UA matches now really challenges in disguise? I dont mind it being a challenge, but being given 2 months, especially over t-giving and xmas holidays, is a real steep expectation!"

I also email united in mid-october regarding a status match and they replied the time frame would only last until December 31st, 2007. At the time I thought this was strange since almost everybody on ft for almost every airline find challenges last 3 months (90 days). Does anyone know if they are ending status match challenges on dec. 31st of this year? Is that why united is not giving a full 3 months for the challenge (it seems kinda of silly, especially for prem exec)?

I'm going to wait until november to see if they give a status match until jan. 31st, 2008. I'm hoping they only start challenges at the beginning of the month, which is why the deadline for all october challenges is dec. 30. Any help would be appreciated.

Markus, check out the hotel status match master thread. It doesn't get as much traffic as the airline status match thread, but that is where you'd find information relevant to your inquiry.

Mods, is it possible to change the title of this thread to "The Airline Status Match Master Thread"?

5abi, I think this largely has to do with the fact that United's system zeros out ALL EQMs on the rollover into the new year. So if you need the full 90 days to do the match, wait until 1/1/08 to ask for it.

I really like SPG and have been Platinum for 7 years. But our company offices are moving and the closest hotel is a Marriott. I sent a letter asking if MR would match my SPG Platinum status, but they never replied. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Could I reject the status match because changing minds?

I just got the one-time complimentary status match of CO Plat. from my UA
1K. But I changed my mind and feel it might not work for my future trips.

Could I mail them again (I did it by mail) to reject this offer to keep this chance for my next application?

Many thanks.

I was wondering the same thing. I comped from UA 1K last year and requested a match to US CP, but they only gave me a match to US Plat. As the only reason I really wanted the comp was for the US CP perks, I didn't even want the US Plat I was wondering at the time if I could reject it. I never did and I haven't used it but once when I randomly got a US segment thrown into my itinerary.................what a waste..............:td:

brahms77 Nov 1, 2007 2:34 am

I would like DL Plat but seems like DL does not match UA1Ks to DL Plat (but only to Gold). Since SkyTeam Elite Plus members (DL Plat and CO Plat) have international lounge access, I was thinking having my UA 1K status matched to both DL and CO. I would then US CO Plat (ST Elite Plus) to access lounges, etc. and use my DL Gold for Frequent Flier Miles. Does this sound viable?

This is because CO award programs aren't so good as compared to DL and I would rather keep miles on DL account but have the benefits of ST Elite Plus by having CO Plat. What do you guys think?

lucky9876coins Nov 1, 2007 10:08 am

If you want to waste two status matches then I would consider doing it, but I really wouldn't waste two status matches at the same time for the same alliance. I think you are underestimating the availability of CO awards, though, especially for partners and the fact that Plat's have better availability than you see as a general member with CO.

DL to CO

Got it today:

Thank you for your written correspondence to the OnePass Service Center.

OnePass offers a promotion that matches the elite status of some other airline frequent flyer programs with an equivalent level in the OnePass Elite program. The airline you are inquiring about is not eligible to participate in the match program.

United Status Match Update

"The timeframe for status matches is 90 days for December 31, 2007, whichever comes first. At this time there is less than 90 days left in the year so the deadline is December 31, 2007. Please be advised no status match request will be processed after December 1, 2007." from a United agent

So I guess it looks like I won't be status matching until January of next year...this really sucks as I have already booked two rt's on united that will be shy by less than a 1000 miles. Oh well....

photog72 Nov 8, 2007 9:00 am

Success!

I just completed a status match on CO. I am GP on US, and they matched me. I have one flight left on US this year (that will put me at SP for 2008). Most of my trips are PHL-IAH (saving $$ over EWR-IAH). I have a trip to TLV in April, and looks like I'll be flying *A carriers (US and LX). A little over $1000 RT vs. CO at $5000 RT (they are sold out of Y seats on the return). During Passover, so I can understand why.

Comped to United Premier Executive from CO OnePass Elite Platinum. Too bad they stopped comping to 1K :(

Have one and a half months to fly 12,500 miles which is no difficult feat for me lol

Stopped? It's never been UA's policy to comp to 1K. It has - and still - happens occasionally, but not really through the regular comp processed discussed in this thread.

Status match from US Airways

Does anyone know would US Airways impose any challenges til the end of this year so the comp status can remained valid til 2009? (I know UA has a 12,500 mile travel requirement by end of this calendar year otherwise the comp status expires after Dec 2007)

const3 Nov 13, 2007 3:37 pm

I am a CO Platinum going to lowly Silver next year. I would like to match somewhere, preferably Star Alliance. My travel next year will be back-end loaded so challenges will not work. I called USAir and they suggested I buy the trial preferred status. United seems to only be doing challenges. Am I out of options? It seems crazy that all three of the sky team airlines are still matching, but no one else does.... Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try BD - if you fly mostly C or F tickets, it's the one to get! ^

I asked this a while back in the thread and didn't get much of an answer. Is there ANY way I can move from CO's program to NW? I really want to change but don't want to start over from mile 0. I'm a platinum for the rest of this year. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Don't get your hopes up. The consensus is that NW/DL/CO do
not offer status match/challenge for each others' program. Seems
you certainly can move, but will have to start from scratch.

gleff Nov 15, 2007 5:01 am

So you have to go through another program as middleman -- eg CO -> UA -> NW. Of course your CO status will probably comp to mid-tier somewhere else and then mid-tier with NW so you won't wind up a NW Plat but it's better than nothin'.

Exleftseat Nov 15, 2007 5:19 am

Ua Status Match/challenge

Someone in this thread mentioned that UA would not do
any more challenges after Dec 1, 2007. Does that mean
-no more challenges at all- or just -call back after Jan 1,
2008-. I was in a similar position, as they offered me a
challenge to fly a certain amount of miles before Dec 31.
I felt I am overextended this year, don't want to get caught
up in holiday travel, but am certainly up to it after Jan 1.
Can someone clarify this point for me please?

latest info on BMI match?

I am contemplating a move to BMI, after reading the posts it looks like my growing *A flying habits make this a good place to be with 60k+ in C travel. In addition to *Gold with UA, I am also a NW Plt and AS MVP Gold. Any sense of my chances of a status match with BMI with any/all of these these programs? I have a SE Asia address if that makes any difference...
I have a 24k circle pacific fare coming up in a month that I wouldn't mind dumping in to get going. Also, does anyone have the Fax# for requesting a match?

They'll match your NW Plat to bmi Gold. Send them your AS MVP Gold as well, for good measure. Don't mention UA status. Just send your stuff to [email protected] (attach screen shots or pdf scans of your status). In a few days you'll be Gold.

Btw bmi no longer limits membership in Diamond Club to residents of a few countries. Anyone can join.

I got a status match to bmi Gold as a Delta PM less than a month ago. It took only about 5 days, and without any problems. One of the things you may miss (in the beginning only) is the 100% bonus RDMs on UA versus 25% bonus RDMs on bmi (35% if flying on bmi metal). But given that you will most likely fly 60,000 miles in Business, it will only take you 27,500 miles of C class flying (i.e 55,000 status miles) on most star airlines to reach the threshold that would convert all your status miles to destination miles (RDMs)... beyond that point, you will be racking miles pretty fast!! One of the great advantages of this program... it greatly rewards premium class flying . Good Luck!

stephem Nov 18, 2007 6:04 am

Thanks for the advice on BMI, I really appreciate the pointers. I wont miss the UA bonus, because I almost never fly their metal, there are many better *A products over here. I finally realized UA's 25% COS service bonus for OZ and NZ flights in C isn't a good utilization of those pricey fares. Happy to "start again" for BMI, only wish I had thought about it 12 months ago... I'd be rolling in the miles.

Same thing as mentioned in the first post (except that the mailing address has changed).

Include the following information -
1) Covering Letter - Most important! Ensure you include information about the reason, why they should give you a status match. Tell them about your plans to use Continental as your primary airline and your need to travel to cities, which are CO hubs (so that you can talk about direct flights, etc.)
Also include information like Name, Address, Phone #, OnePass #, Email address, etc.
2) A copy of your current elite status card.
3) A copy of your latest elite statement.

Mail To:
Continental Airlines

I found it easier to call up, tell them you mailed the documents, and if you say you are in a rush they will tell you that you can just email them those same documents. It took 24 hours for them to match afterwards. Also, apparently they have a pretty rigid list on what matches to what. I tried to match my mother's CX Diamond status to CO Plat, but they only accept matches from US-Based carriers (so her UA Prem Exec was only matched to CO Gold, but I was told a 1K WOULD be matched to Plat.)

Try DL, I moved from NW 2 years ago and they matched me to DL Gold. Keep in mind, it took 3 faxes and 3 weeks, but persistence paid off.

Due to not being allowed to do a three letter word search, I am obliged to ask if anyone knows of a mention of SAS status matching.

gleff Nov 22, 2007 11:49 am

Outside of a Star Alliance-wide matching offer I haven't seen SAS offer a status match program.

Thanks Gleff. Will try over in the BA forum.

I wouldn't know about that, they may still have some standards! :D

Seriously, there's a "Rest of World" option in the sign-up process if you're not in one of the few countries in the list. Lots more in this thread in the bmi forum.

I just got off the phone with Continental. They told me to fax the letter and supporting docs to 832 235 2188.

Is there a summary for all numbers and procedures for all airlines?

Thanks,
