From CO Gold Elite to UA ???
 

So I faxed in my request for a UA status match based on my CO Gold status on 3/7/07 (to fax 605-341-6140) and I also emailed the same request to UA on 3/9/07 (to [email protected]).

I haven't heard anything back yet (and I realize that I'm very impatient) ... but how quickly does UA normally respond to these requests?

Any experience out there on how UA matches CO Gold elite? To 1P or 2P?

UA should match to Premier Executive, 1P. Sorry, not sure how long it will take.

between 2-6 weeks, depending on a number of factors. Chances are, it will go through, it just takes a while before you recieve anything.

I've already got some 22k+ mi racked up on MP, but I was hoping to catch the 100% RDM bonus and *G lounge access on an upcoming UA/SK trip IAH-OSL in late March. (at the end of which I will be 2P anyways...)

Data point: got comped to Air Canada prestiege (Star silver) through Varig's promotion. Just completed AA challenge to gold, waiting for miles to post!

You don't. Only on UA and US flights, as well as transatlantic LH flights.

Right....that's what I thought....

Now that LH is *not* allowing us to use the UA code-share, SK-metal flight on Q class (or any other class, might I add!) on their tickets, EWR-CPH, I thought maybe something had changed in favor of UA's MP program...

When is the best time to get matched?
 

I would like to have my Alitalia Gold Status (SkyTeam Elite Plus) matched with United.

When is the best time to get the maximum out of it? In other words; when is the earliest possible month if I want to have my future United gold status valid until Feb 2009?

After emailing my status match request to [email protected] on 3/9/07 I got the reply back tonight granting me Premier Executive status with UA through Feb-08. (UA matched my CO Gold Elite)^
Took only 3 working days ^ :D ^

The credentials will be mailed in 4-6 weeks so I'm hoping *A lounge dragons will accept the email/web-site print out in the meantime...

If you want a guarantee that the matched status will be valid until Feb 2009 you need to wait until Jan-08 to request the status match.

UA might have a cut-off sometime late in '07 where they will grant status through Feb-09, but I don't know that they have a publisized date for this. Maybe others have specific examples.

Going by past experience, asking in Aug 2007 would get you comped through Feb 2009. As usual, YMMV.

Thanks to you fine folks, I emailed PremierMatch with my DM Silver card and flight history and got UA Premier with 5 days. :) This forum (and thread) rocks.

Does anyone know if there are other email addresses for Delta, CO, etc that are similar to PremierMatch? Thus far I have only seen fax numbers.....

i sent in a fax with my AA platinum card + flights for the past 3 months to US Airways about 2 weeks ago, but have heard nothing back from them. I am mainly interested in them, because my business travel is between DFW >> PHX, and America West also has flights that would fit my schedule. Does anyone know how long it takes to get back to me about this?

Last week, I faxed in a polite letter, as well as a copy of both sides of my AirTran Elite card to the Delta Skymiles service center. I did not send in any other documentation. I checked the Delta website yesterday and saw that I got comped to Silver. ^

As a sidenote, I had already flown with them 6 times this year and have 2 other flights already booked and made sure to point that out in my letter.

And btw, I love this site! A few weeks ago "Status Comp" wasn't even in my vocabulary :)

I moved to the DTW area for about a year now and I suppose to have several itineraries on Northwest.

For my convenience I´d like to request a status match to NWA from one of my elite memberships AA Plat & bmi *G

I used the fax number in the OP. LH SEN/SQ PPS matched to NW GE. Took exactly 3 weeks.

That sounds quiet a long time... Which # was it ?

Or just the regular Fax # posted on their website ?

And I'd like to reinforce your accurate observation:

Bear in mind that status matches are generally one-time only affairs -- so only request the match if you plan to use the status and re-qualify. Otherwise it's a future opportunity wasted.

I have seen instances where newbies have found FT, get all excited, run around to 4 airlines and get a shiny Gold card for no good reason other than they "can" and of course all 4 expired a year or so later. Great information. I made this mistake with Continental - I thought it would last as long as my AC SE status. Now that I want to dump all United flights (so I don't sit in the very back with th efirst time flyers) I have less appealing choices.

The fax number has changed for United Matching of AAdvantage status ... new number is 605-343-4014. They promise email answer in 5 business days.

If I were to match to CO in July, does anyone know whether the matched status would be valid until the end of this year, or the end of next year? I am confident I could not requalify for Plat this year, but think I could requalify next year, so I am trying to decide when to match. Thanks!:)

Anyone has experience with a status match to LH. Any intel would be appreciated.

I have it on good authority that you should wait until after June 1 to request a match. I requested & received a match just last week. However, mine expires Feb, 2008.

I called to request an extension, but they would not honor my request. The CO rep confirmed that if I had been given the status match after June 1, then it would expire Feb, 2009. It doesn't seem quite fair, but I suppose they had to pick a cutoff date... it just isn't one I like. :p I really didn't need the status until after June anyway... since I've already booked much of my travel until July.

Unfortunately, a good deal of my travel is in the 1st qtr of each year, so I will not qualify for Platinum next year. :(

The only status match LH does until 30/4 is from Varig (RG) over the Star Alliance Brazil promotion. See staralliance.com :)

Thanks! I called yesterday to ask as well, and they told me I had to request after July 1 to get the match for the full next year. Are you sure about June instead of July?:)

Short of a Star Alliance matching promotion or someone in government relations or corp. sales getting involved, efforts made to get a status match hit a wall.

I applied for a status match last week using the fax number at the beginng of the thread. I simply sent a short note saying I was considering transferring my business to UA if they could match my current silver status with NWA. 3 days later, I received the following email. This seems to be a bit different than what I was expecting based on other's experiences in this thread. It seems that this is a cross between a match and a challenge.

Obviously, 6250 miles isn't a lot, and I'll easily meet that on the two trips I have within the next month. But for those considering a status match before flying the UA SFO-AKL deal, it looks like you better wait until your trip falls within the 90 day window or else you might be disappointed.

Anyone know whether there are still no status matches for AA? I remember last time I called they said they did it a few times a year, but I have still not seen anything posted here. Anyone?:)

Lucky, I think your best bet is to do the Gold or Platinum Challenge for 5K/10K miles in 90 days. I believe they have changed the fares that qualify for the challenge so you should check before booking any flights. If anyone knows differently about any exceptions to the status match rule please share.

What's the point of status matching to UA before the SFO-AKL flight? The flight is already booked into Int'l business class which means you will get Lounge Access and other Business Class perks like check-in, etc. And just from that flight you will earn enough EQMs to qualify for Premier. I see no reason to status match before the flight. Or am I missing something?
