AA: has anyone received status match? (Not a challenge.)

Fax for DL Status match - 404-773-1945

I faxed CO to match my new AA Plat (Thorugh challenge.) I got email respobse within the hour requesting that I fax them my AA card. I will only get the card itself within 6-8 weeks (according to AA) but I fly coast to coast weekly. I do have the statement saying that I'm Plat but CO say it's not enough. Any way around this?

What is the fax number for Continental Status Match?

Hi! I'd like to use my AA Platinum to get a status match from Continental. Does anyone know what the most up-to-date fax number for elite status match is?

Thanks!

Kristin

Would UA status match to 1P on the basis of CO Gold even though one already has a 2P status on UA? That is, does having some elite status already on UA exclude the possibility of getting a status match to a higher level on UA? My wife (a UA 2P) has significant international travel planned for this year and if UA will status match to 1P, she is likely to focus more on UA than CO. I suspect that it is worth trying but can anyone with the relevant experience please advise?

AA to DL match strategy

I'm currently Plat on AA and flew 90,000 miles last yr. DL is one of my backups and I flew 20,000 on them last year. Given the distribution of my clients I should easily do 25,000 DL miles this year. However, 50,000 miles would be a stretch as I plan to keep AA as my primary.

Am I better off requesting match to DL Silver or Gold? I know that Gold is higher status, but if I get matched to Silver, and then fly 25K miles, could I do a match again at some time in the future (in case I decide to dump AA for DL)?

mtparadis Feb 13, 2007 2:25 pm

Why are you requesting a DL match? Your profile says DL Gold.

TimMeineke Feb 13, 2007 3:10 pm

Sorry that was vestigial. No current status on Delta

Delta has soft landing, so if you can get comped to gold and then next year if you fall a little short of 25k then you'll at least still retain silver.

will airline match a hotel's status?

Has anyone ever heard of an airline matching a hotel's elite status? I have seen it the other way around, from an Airline to a hotel. I have no status on any airline, but do have elite with several hotel chains.

I have only seen it when there is a promo running and many people get comped automatically (...there were a lot of angry Starwood Plats. a few months back....can't remember exactly when, but a skillful search should access this thread).

Does anybody have any experiences with status matching on Finnair?
Also, I am wondering what about Turkish Airlines? Has anybody succeeded with that company? I would like to get at least mid-level tier on that, so I could sometimes use the lounges on domestic flights at least...

*Alliance and/or Skyteam US partner willing to match BAEC Euro-Gold?

I think I will be re-locating to the US (New York) in the next 6 months or so. I don't know yet how much travel I'll be doing in my new job, but it's likely to be mostly US domestic - plus trips home to Canada. Any advice on which US airlines to approach for a status match to BAEC Gold, especially while I'm still barely hanging onto that status by my fingertips? Currently, I collect Aeroplan miles (will lose Elite status at the end of this month), Air France miles (Silver status with Flying Blue, almost exclusively through Amex spend) and BA miles (3 years or so as Gold, plus one as Silver). Currently, I don't have a lot of activity in my BA account (but there are a few flights in the last month or so, and likely to be several more in April-June). Suggestions on timing, who to approach, etc? I was considering approaching BMI, since I've heard they readily comp BAEC Silver and Gold to equivalent *Alliance status, but would it make more sense to go with a US carrier?

UA might be a good first step to comp you to *G, then you can work on other carriers....

But I've noticed that US carriers don't seem to include lounge access for domestic flights as part of the benefit package they give their elite customers, whereas BMI Diamond does seem to give their elites lounge access with BMI-operated lounges plus *Alliance members (e.g. UA) have to give BMI elites access to UA-operated lounges for free. So, wouldn't it make more sense to go with BMI? Or am I misunderstanding something? I should add that I'm actually looking for comp'd status as a stopgap for a year. I'm going to continue using my Aeroplan number for *Alliance flights and hope to reach Elite again in 2007.

Correct, but I would go for both, at least to have the option, as UA is the fastest to obtain, then you can go for the BD card....I wish I could go for a BD comp, but let me know how you do - I don't know if just a UK address would be okay, would it??

You don't need to have a UK address anymore.Any address would do.

Whats the fax number for US? I dont want to use the old one, there should be a number somewhere in Tempe, I assume?

Ah, some interesting points raised above. So you could technically (not that I would ever do this;)) status match from UA to a European Star carrier to receive *G, which would get you lounge access domestically? Interesting.:D

She has a BAEC gold - comp to UA, if she is flying domestically...she would at least have status on a US airline, as UA is the easiest and fastest to obtain, but no RCC lounge access .

Then she can work on other status matches....including BMI (from BAEC Gold!) - that would give her RCC lounge access...

Kate - you can check this thread out for reference to a BD Comp: http://flyertalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=622924 See Posts 2-4.

Best to comp BAEC Gold is BD, UA is easy too, but no lounge access on US domestic. CO will do a status match on BAEC Gold, but only to GoldElite, which means no lounge access too (on Skyteam you nee ElitePlus - plat. status). AF and KL will not match your status.

Does US Airways still match up to top tier Chairman? I've heard they are now only match up to Plat status.

Too bad that AA does not match anymore, what about the rest of Oneworld -any that match the status?

TG to UA

Sorry if this information is elsewhere on the thread but I couldn't find it...
I am TG Gold and will be flying a great deal on UA in the next few months...sigh.
Is it possible/beneficial to try and attain comp status on UA?

UA Brazil Promotion

Has anyone had any experience with the UA status match offered through the Star Alliance Brazil promotion? It involves taking your most recent statement from another program that reflects your elite status and faxing it to a number in Sao Paulo (55 11 3284-6589).

I actually did this before searching on FT, and now I realize it may have been wiser to use the US fax number or the e-mail address mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

I would suggest you fax the US number, in addition, in order to get a faster response.

They normally will e-mail you confirmation of your status match to your UA MP profile e-mail address.

HLS2002 Mar 2, 2007 7:39 am

Thanks. I think I'll do this. I'm trying to avoid being in E- for a transpac in May.

DL Status Match timing

I spoke to Skymiles today. They said that the Status Match sends a letter with their decision three weeks from the date they receive a fax request. The rep I spoke to didn't know of any way to expedite this process

Yes, and it worked perfectly ^

I sent the docs (last statement & copy of RG card) and less than 48 hours I received an e-mail from UA confirming the status match. :)

mith Mar 5, 2007 4:06 am

Okay,... so as with delta, it will take too long to get me status, I tried Continental: in less than 24 hours after the fax was sent, I received it! ^ CO! Well, skyteam elite... not worth much, but a good start
(was matching from LH M&M).

Btw, what status do you hold on LH, for us to understand how they comped you?

I just checked the onepass page, and amazingly, only Plats get partner lounge access? Is this true??

oresh Mar 5, 2007 12:23 pm

Just got CO to match AA Platinum with their Gold. Took them < 3 hours to match but they did request a copy of the actual AA membership card.

flightline Mar 6, 2007 11:21 am

When are matches valid for the following year?

I'm currently AA Platinum, expires 02/08. I hope to use matches to parley this into mid-level status with various airlines for as long as possible. Thus, I need to request matches after the mid-year dates (the date after which a match is granted for the ENTIRE following year).

1. In what order should I do this (e.g., UA the first year, DL the next, then BD, etc.?)

2. What are the mid-year dates for programs that commonly match?

3. Are there programs that commonly match, but with only the same expiration date as the matched status, regardless of when the match is granted?

I've searched the thread, and while this topic has come up sporadically, it's never been clearly answered. Thanks.

outoftown Mar 7, 2007 9:41 pm

I thank the posters for this very informative thread. I just got my status match on Continental from no status to Platinum. I sent a bunch of stuff in so I'm not sure what did it. Unfortunately I went from NWA Silver to nada, from UA Premier Exec to nada and dropped from US CP to Platinum, although my tickets all this week are still showing CP. The US computers are still screwed up.

alexoster Mar 8, 2007 11:29 am

Emailed CO requesting status match to BA gold they sent back an email saying that this needs to be done via regular mail. So last week I mailed them my request along with a copy of my BA statement and card as requuested. Today my CO online account shows me as gold.

Am not trying to be pushy here but I recently moved to the States from London where I used to fly with BA "alot". I was a gold memeber with BA nearly 4 times over and was really hoping for CO to make me a platinum rather then gold. Is there anything I can do? Should I send them another letter?
