Expiration of Elite Status from Delta Challenge?

To those who have successfully completed a Delta Elite Status Challenge:

If you get the challenge and earn your Silver or Gold Medallion status, when does it expire? Does it depend on if you finish the Challenge in the first 6 months of the year or the last 6 months of the year?

For example, if I completed the Challenge and gained Elite status in Feb 2006, would my status expire in the beginning of 2007 or 2008?

gpan Feb 4, 2006 3:02 pm

NW matched DL status (FO level) took about 2-3 weeks though. Also note that I have flown about 80% of my miles past year with NW, and have over 40k booked this year with NW.

Beginning of 07.

I think it will be hard to keep all my status between 3 airlines. I have to see where my next project takes me to decide that I guess.

Good luck!!

Does anybody know if Continental or NWA have any sort of challenges (and if people with status can do them)? Next year I am going to be spreading my travel among international and other domestic carriers to retain status on both airlines.

Question:
When they say it is a one time thing, does this mean you can only match to one airline once, or match to any airline once? If the latter, how do airlines tell if you have matched to other airlines?

Thanks a lot,
Ben

US Airways Fax Number?

What Fax Number did you use for USAirways? Does anyone know?

Thanks...

Please fax a written Preferred Exception request, along with current tier documentation for the other airline, to 305-370-3513. It is important to include your Dividend Miles account number, your email address and a daytime telephone number so that we can contact you after your correspondence is reviewed.

I'm AA PLAT and expected to be matched to status with lounge access (*Gold).. anyways they just put me on silver  worthless...

Thanks for the info... will let you know what happens

UA STATUS MATCH & ALASKA STATUS MATCH

After faxing UA for a status match for my AA Plat, I got a letter back requesting a copy of my AA card and AA statement. I'd fax'd all of that. I immediately responded by US mail. Got my status match a week later. 3 weeks total. Notified by mail. Now I'll wait for the card.

Also, req. status match on Alaska by fax and got it 2 weeks later. Notified by mail. they included a card and 4 ow 1st class upgrades.

Booking flights for the AA Plat challenge

I'm planning on doing the AA challenge with flights on AA/CX in April to Shangahi.

I understand via search that I shouldn't sign up for the challenge until closer to the dates that I plan to travel.

Am I OK to book the tickets now (will be J tix on AA/CX) even though I don't request the challenge for another 3-4 weeks?

You can go ahead and book the tickets anytime. You just need to start the challenge before the miles post to your account.

Following a number of changes on a Trans Tasman sector I fly fortnightly with Qantas, MEL-CHC, I made a request to Air NZ to consider matching status.

I am currently Qantas Platinum (One World Emerald) and was seeking a match to the top level within Air NZ, being Gold Elite.

My enquiry was directed to the Sales Team in Australia. Although no official policy exists, I was informed the Sales Manager would review the requests on a case by case basis, and required approval by the GM.

I supplied my QF statements for the previous 4 years, aong with a copy of my current Platinum card and a letter outlining my reasons for changing carrier and the expected revenue I would bring across.

Within a matter of days my request was approved and my status upgraded to NZ Gold Elite (*Gold).

I received the kit this morning, with an expiration date of 28 Feb 07.

opus17 Feb 17, 2006 9:46 pm

I received a status match AA Platinum (matching my Delta GM) through my company in 2005. I flew about 8000 AA miles in 2005, so I thought the gig was up. I was shocked to get a 2006 AA Platinum card in the mail today.

I got my status match to Prem. Ex. from UA on Friday and was able to use on an upcoming flight to HKG to get economy plus seats. Otherwise I was thinking of buying their plan for $299. So this seems to have worked for me just fine. Thank you UA.

LH status match

I heard Lufthansa processed status matches in UK in the last years!?

Just sent a request to Miles & More Portugal for a match into elite status due my current FTL (*Silver) expired last DEC !

Any experience with LH? In UK they gave away alot of Senator's (also with the same benefits like 2 Upgrade Vouchers?) and FTL's !

Would be interesting to speak with anyone who recieved LH FTL/SEN by this way and know about the requirements...

Cheers :-:

Except under the UK * Alliance status match promotion, LH has a history of rebuffing status match requests for many flyers -- especially to SEN. Present company, unfortunately, included. Consequently, I have not stepped onto LH flights in the past 5 years, in over a million elite qualifying miles, except for those involving award ticket reroutes.

Well... I wrote them: ...regarding of your recently launched codeshare with TAP Air Portugal..bla bla... I'd like to return to LH service if you're able to upgrade my M&M account status to a similar status as AA PLT (so FQT)... bla bla !

We'll see what happen ! Otherwise I match to UA PrEx ;)

I'd go the UA or BMI route before trying LH. :D

Quick Question

I am a UA 1P, is there any shot US or HP will give me a Match? I plan to travel to CLT a few times this year and could use status on US or HP for those flights.
Thanks

Members within the same alliance generally don't seem to like to status match members of their partner airlines' program. In this case, UA and US are part of * Alliance and thus may have some kind of anti-poaching understanding. That said, same-alliance status matches have happened before and US remaining -- or not remaining -- within * Alliance is subject to some speculation.

james84 Feb 20, 2006 8:41 pm

I realised this thread discusses mainly status matches to US based airlines, does anyone have any idea if EK does status match at all?

Thanks.

UA, should I match, or challenge, or do nothing?

Hi All,

I just got my Amex Centurion this year and have all the elite statuses that accompany it. I also upgraded my MP Visa to Plat that will get me 10,000 EQMs for this year. I have two trips already planned for this year as follows: LAX - FRA - AMS and returning MXP - FRA - LAX in May which should net me around 9,000 more EQMs plus I have an additional trip planned for Dec which roundtrip is 5000 EQMs. Total anticipated EQMs for the year earned are 24,000 +/-. My May flight is paid business (z) and my Dec is paid econ with upgrade by miles.

I figure if I status match to Prem Exec before my trip in May I will get 150% of the EQM miles which should yield the following:

2006 Prem Exec (matched or challenge)
2007 Prem (minimum).

So this causes me to have two questions:

1. Am I best off requesting a challenge and making May my challenge month? If so, will they ignore a trip for which tickets are already bought and paid for before my challenge month began?

2. If I request a status match, my statements for CO and US will both show Gold status with 0 miles. My DL status will show Gold with 225,000 miles but no YTD Qualification Miles.

I don't have any of my Airline cards but I suppose if recommended by you guys I could call and request new ones be sent to me.

So, please give me your advice on what I should do if anything.

Thanks!

J.

As far as I know there is no challenge neither for PremEx; they do easily accept status match but probably will request a copy of some activity on your statement. If you send them the upgraded CO (or DL) account from Centurion I don't think they will status match you.

Unless all they wanted to see was a copy of the card.

On the statements, for an active DL flyer, would the Jan or Feb statement show any miles flown on it since its a new year if nothing was flown during those months...

Thanks.

Fiumicino Feb 23, 2006 8:43 am

That is a possibility, but when I first started flying UA they did ask for a copy of the three previous statements to give me the status match. It took only a few days and they sent me an email. At least try asking for the status match by faxing only the copy of your membership card, if it is not enough they will contact you. Let us know.

I will call CO and DL today and have them send me my cards.

GUWonder Feb 23, 2006 10:12 am

Just an update. With regards to status matches and UA, it seems like 120k EQMs credited to UA within 7 months but that happen to be split over the calendar year-end (c. 70k/50k) still fails to yield 1k even as part of a status match. Not much has changed in that regard since a few years back.

It means that you can only match to one airline once -- i.e., the program in which you wish to have your status upgraded will only upgrade your specific account once. That is what is meant when someone says that a status match is a once-in-an-account-lifetime/once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you should use it wisely.

pinniped Feb 23, 2006 10:42 pm

I'm AA Gold...have to fly UA a bunch over the new few weeks. Just looking to ask for a 2P match.

Does anyone know whether it's worthwhile to send a quick email asking for it? I have my shiny new (exp 2007) AA Gold card I could fax, but I wonder whether they even want to see it on a simple 2P request.

Anyone have experience with this? I notice most folks here are going after the 1P and 1K comps, physically faxing stuff to get it done. Just wonder if the 2P process is the same, given how a lot of other airlines will give out the low-tier like it's water.

Yes they are saying that
if asking for a status match you can only ask EACH AIRLINE once.
and no
big brother is not watching.
same goes for hotel programs sheraton will only match you once and only if you have not earned it before as I had :( ,. so I didnt get a status match.!!
many airlines will not status match but will offer you a challenge(AA) :)
What most people in this thread are saying is
dont get a fist full of gold at plat cards as when you really want them to mathc you they wont! :(

How long did it take for them to match you? I faxed late last week...haven't heard anything one way or another. They have all of my contact info - email, phone, and snail mail. I was kind of expecting something via email today - either Premier status or an email telling me to get lost and have fun flying Southwest. ;) (AA Gold seeking UA Premier)

The first part of your question is true - UA *will* status-match US, and vice-versa. However, the second part is incorrect. No speculation at all is necessary. US is and will remain part of the Star Alliance for the foreseeable future :)

Why someone would want to burn their once-in-a-lifetime US status-match for a couple flights to CLT is a different story. As a UA elite flying on US, you get priority boarding and check-in. The only thing you don't get is free upgrades, and if you really want the snack basket you can buy 500-milers.

UA status!

Requested a status match on United and they sent me a letter requesting a copy of my current Alaska MVP card and statement (even though I had included these with the fax...) and about a week later my status on ua.com showed as Premier ^

Now I just need to get US Airways to do the same so I can at least earn a few extra miles on my Spring Break trip to Cancun, since America West flights don't earn UA miles (at least not until after 3/31). I'll be flying PDX-LAS-PHL-CUN on 3/23 and CUN-FLL-LAS-PDX on 3/31. The PDX-LAS-PHL and FLL-LAS-PDX are operated by HP.

What are the chances that US will get back to me before the 23rd and match my Alaska status?

It took 3 weeks and a follow up call, it showed online before I recieved written confirmation. I still haven't received a card.

Good luck,

I spoke with US about getting me my new card. The lady was a little mixed up, not being able to understand i actually FLEW the number for the next level already, and told me "US will not be doing any status matches until after the merger".

Just my 2cents
