AA to ?

Hi Flyertalkers--
Your opinions please-- I'm an AA Gold, flying mostly NYC to SF or LA. I'd like to try for a status match, but don't know which airline to choose. I've read that Continental rarely upgrades on those routes, and their coach is less than wonderful. So how about the others? United? (If no upgrade, do you usual get a E+ seat?) NW, Delta, US? Thanks for the help!

I think I answered my own question--or at least, Barnett did in his recent column at Joe Sent Me:
http://cb.biztravelife.com/

(Just booked a PS seat JFK/SJC for less than every other airline I tried. Hope they status match before the flight!)

Do you mean JFK-SFO? UA doesn't fly PS (or even non-stop) to SJC from JFK.

You're so right. Asked for JFK-SFO, got SJC-LAX-JFK. It's OK. More miles!

925, did you get your answer? I'm thinking of getting US to match my CO Silver Elite. Going by the answers for other airlines, if it's past July 20th it should be fine till Feb 2008?

For US, how late in this year do I have to match to make the US Status Match good until February 2008?

I never got an answer from anyone here, so I decided to wait until January 1 to request the match. Sorry I don't know. Please post if you find out!

I asked just before you guys (post 648), but didn't hear back either. So, I faxed in my info on 7/8/06 (I was hoping that if half the year was over, they'd give me all of next year also).

The card arrived today. While I'm excited that they matched my AA status, unfortunately it expires 2/28/07. (I may try calling to get it extended or at least find out the cutoff for others here).

In any case, thanks to Gleff and others, without whom I'd have had no idea this was possible.

I recall from one of Viajero Joven's Mileage Run seminars (actually I took notes on it and made sure to write it down because I was interested in it) that he said that the America West Elite comp would be valid for 2 years only if it were requested after Oct. 31 in a given year. I assume the same would be true for US Airways since they are now one.

Alaska Match - When to ask for status thru 2008 ?

Wondering if anyone knows when Alaska will start giving MVP gold on a match through 2008 ?

Has anyone out there gotten an Alaska match recently, or in August of a previous year ? Is it safer to wait until September ?

thanks jim!
doing it today

Is 10 days about the norm in getting a response from United? I just want to know when I should refax or call to find out about the status of a status match request.

Any experience and suggestions how to handle status match with bmi??

According to your profile you have SQ PPS which is also *Gold so confused why you need another *Gold card. Mind you, if you have SQ PPS, you should have earned enough miles to get *Gold with any other star alliance carrier to whom you put your miles to.

I'm guessing from the BMI *G that BD managed to comp you. :)

It should take about 7-10 days before your account shows the new status. I know a few people that had their requested granted in less than 2 weeks. Give it a few more days.

How long from UA 1K to any NWA status?

Hi,

I faxed in, on behalf of my boss, his UA 1K status and 80 segments so far on UA this year to request a status match from NWA at 218-254-7567 on August 8th. He has flown Northwest a few times this year (some reason miles were not credited) and will be flying NW a lot. So far today Aug 21 his account still shows Base Member.

Is there any number that I could call to follow-up? Should I refax? Any advice would be much appreciated. I myself had a great experience matching my Air Canada Elite Status to UA Prem Executive which was reflected online within 24 hrs. of me faxing my request so I was hoping that Northwest wouldn't be too far behind!

tinkybelle Aug 25, 2006 7:47 am

Well I patiently waited 10 working days and the account still has premier on it
Do u think I should re send his request in?

Send a copy of your current elite statement or elite card along with a note explaining you'd like to shift your busy to them if they'll match your current status to:

[Edit] There are recent reports of Delta offering "challenges" in response to status match requests -- that is, fly x segments in y days for status.

Thanks for this thread. Will let you know how the request turns out!

BW status match to Hilton

Hi all,

I had posted a while back in the BW status match thread asking about Hilton upping my status from blue because I have platinum status with Best Western and was told to post my results here.

I signed up for HHonors in March and built up enough points (without staying at a Hilton) for a Cat. 4 stay on an existing reservation for March 2007 (10 nights). When I called to see if I could use a reward night on an existing reservation, they processed it with no problem.

So I asked about the status upgrade and was told to stay one night of the March reservation then call them back and she would bump me up to silver before I checked out for that stay. So the end result is that I will get the higher status before checkout and it will be applied to this stay for posting of points.

Hope this info helps someone else. As BamaVol stated in the other thread, you won't get anything unless you ask.

Gail

Hi All just wondering I am Aeroplan Elite and wanting a status match on an Asian Carrier. JAL OR CX any info. Air Canada sucks for flying into DEL and I need a change. ?

Good luck getting an Asian carrier to match. The only chance is via sales division of your preferred carrier, and it's unlikely that as an Aeroplan Elite your pushing enough revenue to make this work.

CX to somewhere..

hello all,

am currently cx mpc silver - based out of hkg. fly mainly to JNB, CPT & IST.

problem is bcos 1world does not have a convenient routing to IST i end up flying to IST on EK; hence lose close to 24k miles per year on that sector.

want to join a programme allowing me to fly to all my dest with perks.

friend says to status match to UA and hence be silver on STAR network flying SQ to all above mentioned dests.

flying out in a week and dont know which carrier to fly on.

any comments would be most appreciated.

cheers.

Status Match - SQ => UA

I'm moving to California in October, and last Wednesday called United to ask about a possible status match from SQ Elite Gold to an "equivalent" level with UA. Faxed through my account details etc. & next day received an e-mail confirming status match to UA 1P (Premier Executive) - new card & info pack in the mail!!

Thanks UA!!

I have tried this out and there is no answer to the fax number. I can see from the history in this thread that the last succesful fax request was at the end of July. Does anyone know of an updated fax number or where this information comes from? I have searched on united.com and could not find anything.

I'm Gold on AA, and am flying Delta for work a couple of times this month - I faxed my request to them with a copy of my AAdvantage statement on Tuesday (9/5), checked my SkyMiles account this morning (9/7), and I am now Silver Medallion on Delta.

Gail,

Silver is still a pretty low status w/HH. Ask the mfor a stauts match challenge for say Gold and you may be able to reach that fairly easy. They'll want you to fax them your status and proof of Best Western Elite status!
Hope this helps
