Did you already tried to match with AA so without doing the chAAllenge? As far as I know your chance are not to bad to get matched from 1K to AA plat. Not sure if any other OW partner will match you but doubt it.

I always throught that *A partners won't match status but there are a lot of reports here on FT that UA will match US status and vv. So wait and see what happens…

AA match of United

Well, they're not doing it at the moment. They did offer to put me on a 90 day ChAAlenge for 5K for Gold and 10K for Platinum.

European Airlines Match??

I am AA Plat and will be traveling to Poland/Italy several times this year. Is it possible to get matched with LOT Polish or Alitalia? Any other European airlines that match?

TIA

Your chances to get matched with LO are not too good. They use Miles&More (same program as LH, LX, OS…) and as you probably know M&M doesn't do such things in general. BTW LO is not such a great airline and I'd avoid it if I could. If you want to get *A status you could match your stAAtus with BD. your chances are pretty good to get matched to BD DM Gold witch is *G as well.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Just have a look at the BD Forum. There are a lot of threads about matching and it looks like it is not that difficult.

You can even find some posts indicating that you can now enroll in every country. You can choose "rest of the world" and than select the country you want…

cheers

Anyone know whether AA is back to matches? I know they obviously have their challanges, but the agent I talked to a few months ago said they match a few times a year. Any clue whether 'tis the season?:)

IceTrojan Jan 24, 2007 1:05 pm

I've now been matched to 1P. ^

Last I heard, they were outright matching status if you were based out of Chicago (even up to EXP for 1K)... this was a couple months ago, and I'm not sure if it's still going on. There's a thread buried in the AA forum somewhere... I'll see if I can find it.

Just got an email from UA

and I dont really get it:

Hello Mr. Aceman, > > Thank you for your fax. > > I was not able to process your request for Elite Status Match, as I was unable to locate a Mileage Plus account for you with the information provided in your fax. If you will re-submit your information, along with your Mileage Plus account number, to 605-341-6140, we will be happy to process your request. > > Sincerely, > xxxxxxx xxxxx> Mileage Plus Customer Relations >
Well I don't have a Mileage plus number which is kinda the point isn't it? or I wouldnt be asking for a comp status. Or, was I supposed to open an account first??

Any wording suggestions would be happily received!!

Although I have no direct experience, it does seem from the message they sent you that they want you to open a MP account first and fax them the number.

elCheapoDeluxe Jan 25, 2007 12:44 pm

Adding my experience here as another data point for reference. Faxed my UA 1K card, statement, and RCC card to the DL fax number listed above with a polite letter. Got absolutely no response for three weeks, but my account just showed up as DL Gold. No challenge - straight comp.

Yes, open MP account first.

Marriott, Hyatt, SPG, all wouldn't match PlatAA

I sent a nearly identical email to Marriott, Hyatt, SPG and Hilton asking them if I could get a higher status given my status as Platinum at AA. With Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott I previously held higher statuses (5+ years ago) and expressed to them that I was getting back in the travel game and would stay with them a lot if they bumped my status. Marriott, Hyatt and SPG each sent a quick reply stating that they don't match airlines. Hilton hasn't responded yet.

All done, and a few days ago got an email along with the status change.

Thanks!

I had good luck getting United to match my AA Platinum status.

I emailed the following to [email protected]:

1) Scan of my AA Plat card (front only)
2) Screen shot of my January 07 statement (With not much actually on it).

Took 1 day, and they updated my status and sent a welcome email.

I find this more convenient then sending a fax...so thought i would share if someone has not already.

Ugh... NOW you post this up :p

This definitely needs to go up in the OP.

The status was actually reflected first on united.com, then hours later i received an email regarding that the status was updated...

What did they match with? 1P or 2P?

Looking for AA PLT to be matched to European Airline

I read a that BD can be matched. If so, any info on how to contact them and with what info. Any other European airlines that do this? I will travel to Spain, Poland and Czech Republic so any status match could help!

TIA

I am new to flyer talk, I have American Platinum status, are you saying United will upgrade me to Platinum just by giving them my American info??

Welcome to FT!

No, United won't comp you to Platinum as they don't have such status. But you can ask for status match up to 1P (Premier Executive). Detailed information how it works can be found in the first post of this thread, but your chances are pretty good that they match your AA Plat. to MP 1P.

Cheers

Thanks for posting this gw04. I did exactly what you did and it also took 1 day and now I'm 1P. It's a bit ironic since I'm Plat because of a corporate status match based on my company's AA business and my prior 1k status. But I'll earn them both (Plat and at least 2p) back this year.

MGW2000 Feb 5, 2007 2:44 pm

Just faxed a letter requesting a match and a copy of my AAdvantage card to Delta. Is that enough?

Well as of this evening, AA Customer Service told me over the phone that they are only doing challenges, even if you are Chicago-based. I am 1P on UA, and was hoping to go AAGold :( A challenge isn't appealing right now because my travel is mostly cheaper fares ... is there a magic fax or phone number to try for a different answer?

Yes. i was forced to do challenge as well. I kept calling back to get a different answer. no luck. i faxed my info. no dice.
But if I was with a large corporation, it would have helped.

donuteric Feb 6, 2007 2:07 pm

Faxed AA with my 1p membership card, a good record on my UA flight histories and with already 25k in for the calendar year, but got rejected and was offer instant Gold and Plat challenge.

Not disappointing actually. I look at it as a good sign - at least at the minumum rate that AA doesn't comp a person easily. I'll anyway qualify Plat easily this year and glad that I'll be earning 500-milers from now on.

Hi all

What is the current fax number for Delta to fax to for status match..

OrlandoFlyBoy Feb 7, 2007 4:58 pm

Delta Status Match Fax

Try 404-773-1945

I faxed my US CP card and NW Gold Card and was comped to Gold Medallion. Took about a week though to update my status online.

I believe that most airlines will also ask for 12 months printout or screen shot of account history .

OrlandoFlyBoy Feb 8, 2007 10:11 am

Delta Status Match

Delta matched my status without me providing any flight activity. A copy of my US CP was all I needed for a match to Gold Medallion.

PhlyingRPh Feb 8, 2007 10:17 am

For those wanting a good laugh...

I just sent polite faxes to AA and Hilton requesting status match for UA 1K and Marriott Platinum respectively. I did mention that I was not interested in doing a challenge of any type unless it was a reversible type proposition - i.e., extend me status for the challenge period. If I meet the requirements of the challenge, allow me to retain said status. If not, remove it. I don't think they are going to go for it, but I don't particularly want to give up my benefits on UA and w/ Marriott.

consultcvg Feb 8, 2007 12:45 pm

Anyone have new fax numbers for US Air for status match?
