Faxed my husband's and my USAirways info on 1/17 and got an email yesterday that we had been granted Premier Status for 90 days. I was surprised how fast they responded!

Has anyone had any success (or failure) in getting UA to match AC status?

I shouldn't have a problem with the requirement thank to my upcoming LAX-AKL trip.

Will UA print something out for me showing my status to use at other *Alliance lounges?

be very careful its onlyu UA metal and only economy miles dont ad the bus bonus like I did.
I think lax-syd is 7497 though greatcircle mapper says 7488 so u will need to do another run for 7 or 25 miles depending on who you believe
to get over the threshold:rolleyes:

"If your status match is approved, we will upgrade you to either Premier or Premier Executive status for 90 days. To remain a Premier member, you will need to fly 7,500 paid flight miles or 10 segments on qualifying flights within 90 days of when you were granted Premier status. To remain a Premier Executive member, you will need to fly 15,000 paid flight miles or 18 flight segments on qualifying flights within 90 days of when you were granted Premier Executive status. Qualifying flights are on United, Ted or United Express.....................Once you meet the threshold for your status match, we will send you the appropriate membership kit "

Two problems with this. Firstly, even though I would have the temporary status, I wouldn't have the actual car and lounge access on my first international trip with *A. What's the point? And secondly, I would be flying *A partners and not UA. So for the purposes of the status match, the other partners don't count!! :-( Any suggestions or experience in figuring out ways around these restrictions?

Uhmm just a thought but what if you wait until your account shows the updated status and then just call UA that you "lost" your card and need a replacement. Wouldnt they send automatically the status card as it shows on your account

Peatisback Feb 2, 2008 1:05 pm

Luckily I'm flying UA to get to LAX (actually here now, and leaving for AKL tonight!).

In addition to LAX-SYD-LAX on UA metal, I'll have CVG-ORD-LAX and LAX-IAD-CVG.

traveller1971 - I e-mailed UA about lounge access, and the replied that a copy of the e-mail confirming my new status should work at the lounges... In reality, though, YMMV. I'll let you know when I get to SYD and try the lounges.

Ua 1k

Is 1K attainable through a status match or is premier elite the best?

gleff Feb 3, 2008 12:33 pm

1K isn't attainable through the normal status match program.

It's possible though rare through sales.

A standard status match will be up to 1P, tops.

So is there no difference between doing a status match from Continental or Delta Gold or Platinum to UA? Would both get Premier Executive?

Both Gold and Plat with DL and CO should receive a Premier Executive challenge from United.

Sorry I forgot to include USAir Chairman vs. Platinum. What would they get?

Many thanks.

gleff Feb 4, 2008 3:55 am

If UA is currently matching US (most recent reports I remember seeing were that they are, but they haven't always because of their Star Alliance relationship) the best you'd get is a Premier Executive Challenge.

The standard matching process does not include 1K.

roadtripman Feb 5, 2008 4:03 pm

How long does this process usually take? I submitted an email to premiermat [email protected] describing that I wanted the chance to try out their elite status, and also provided a scan of my current AAdvantage Platinum card and lavishly praised their program and why I'd prefer it, etc. but still no reply. That was on Friday or so.

I'm getting antsy since I leave on my UA/US glitch trip to Munich and want to take advantage of the elite lounges along the way! :D

What are others' experiences regarding wait times?

Does Thai match status

Anyone has experience if TG matches status?

Not that I know of - unless you have Thai government connections...

I contacted them three times before I got a reply - you might want to try again.

Northwest Time

I faxed in my info (4 days ago) from my AA Plat account for a status match with Northwest. I will be flying them soon and would really like the status for the flight. Anyone know how long it generally takes if you get matched?

thanks

Exleftseat Feb 13, 2008 3:29 am

Nothing is instantaneous, be on the safe side and give it
up to two weeks. Send a reminder after 10 days or so.

MapleLeaf Feb 14, 2008 9:32 am

gleff I read your first post and a couple of comments.

You have both America West and US Airways as separate airlines, now that they are one shouldn't they be merged?

Also bmi will status match folks from non *A airlines. It is a one-time thing though like all the other airlines.

Finally one detail not in the first post is with respect to NW and status match. If you live in a hub city, they won't match you, if you are not in one of their hub cities, they do match. This was confirmed to my be a NW employee - they feel if you live where they live, you don't have a choice but to fly them, so no match.

Great thread ^

United will match Singapore and Thai status

Just had a reply from United telling me they will offer the 90 day status match challange for my Krisflyer Gold to Executive Premier and my wifes Royal Orchard Silver to Premier status, with the usual 15000 and 7500 miles rule.

Faxed them copies of our last 2 statements with a note saing we had moved from Australia to UK and most of our flying would now be between UK and USA.

We had booked a return flight on United from LHR to ASE and can now choose the Economy Plus seating on our trip.

It took about a week to get a reply via e mail from them.

lucky9876coins Feb 19, 2008 8:26 am

Does anyone historically know what happens to status matches when airlines merge? For example, let's theoretically say NW and DL merge and I get a status match with NW. Will I no longer be able to match with DL in the future, or how does that work?

jam550 Feb 19, 2008 4:28 pm

Called USAirways to see if they would match my Premiere status on UA. She told me that they discontinued matching as of 1/1.

Is this confirmed and anyone know of any "workarounds" so I can get USAirways to match my UA status?

This is a good question and one that prob could deserve it's own thread as there surely is a strategy to this based on historical events, I bet.

Any oneworld airline besides AA does a status match?

As a general matter no.

Changes to United Match

United will now match up to the highest tier.

You have to fly 15,000 miles or ten segments in the 90 days, in order to keep the ststauys match. You get the first 3 months status match as a grace period with all member benefits.

If you don't get the 15,000, though you get nothing. No middle levels.

Fax has changedas well - 605.343.4104

United only matches to Premier Executive, per 2 days ago.

In addition, the fax number I was given 2 days ago was 605-341-6140

Would love to know more. Why do you think this? Have you obtained one?

Given that those were the previously reported requirements for a 1P (Premier Exec or Mid-tier) match, I believe you are mistaken. Perhaps you misunderstood a statement that 1P is the highest status matched as UA matching to the highest status within the Mileage Plus program.

trvloftn Feb 23, 2008 7:12 am

Does anyone know if Delta is making a change? They told me this week that they do not status match.

psubill78 Feb 23, 2008 7:34 am

Whoo hooo!! Got the 1P match challenge.

Emailed on 2/20, approved late 2/22!!!!!

njvj Feb 23, 2008 8:05 am

Well I just got a premier executive match that requires 15k miles or 18 segments in 90 days to keep it until February 2009.To get it for all of 2009 I must earn 50k or 60 segments. These can be star alliance but the initial 15k must be on United metal.
So, I am going to have to book some trips ASAP.

Ditto this, do they have a email address as well? I can easily scan/pdf proof of status.

Is there any indication that the fax number in the OP is wrong for CO?

gleff Mar 1, 2008 5:01 pm

What's the current UA fax # so I can update the first page? Thx

cblaisd Mar 1, 2008 5:06 pm

Two questions....

A few posts upstream, someone reports 10 segments in 90 days for a 1P challenge, and someone else reports 18 segments. Big difference. Is there are some standard number?

Have dropped to 2P as of today. Does anyone know if UA will nonetheless allow a 1P challenge to current 2Ps? (If it matters, I can show an HA mileage statement for 2007 with lots of miles/segments)

gleff Mar 1, 2008 5:17 pm

United used to have a policy that they wouldn't do matches against other *A elite status. Occasionally they'd make an exception for someone pushing hard and explaining they no longer live in Seoul or Stockholm or wherever.

But since then two things changed: (1) they started matching against US in retaliation for some policy or other, I really don't remember the tit for tat over there and (2) they changed the program to be a challenge rather than straight match.

Does anyone have recent experience attempting to get a challenge based on elite status with a star alliance carrier (other than US)?

The correct number (used a week ago successfully) is : 605-341-6140

Also, there is no such 10 EQS requirement. It's 15k or 18 EQS in 90 calendar days.
