If you end up paying $2, the trip is free. What am I missing?

So still wondering if I should contact them. Has anyone done something similar?
I wouldn't risk it, leave well enough alone. If you want to stay at a better (but still cheap) place try NY NY across the street. You can get rooms there from around $29/nt with a players card and I think they're only $40-$50 without one. NY NY works very hard to treat you like a person and earn your business. $20 got me a corner suite on the 36th floor, VIP passes, vouchers and more coupons than I knew what to do with. Plus its nice to have cheap eats downstairs. The other option would be Tropicana since rooms are extremely cheap right now and they're all completely renovated. They're working on upgrading the hotel but I've heard the new rooms are great.

If you do end up staying at Excalibur check out the Sherwood Forest Cafe and see if they have any late night deals going. They've had specials a few times ($7 NY strip after 10pm) and it was an easy walk from MB. I know the steak deal was done the last time I was there but I'm not sure if they have any current promos - its worth a look.

I have heard about the $20 trick before but haven't tried it before and am a little skeptical. Wouldn't some people be offended by a bribe?

Did I miss something? Isn't this deal marked as Gone so it should be in the MR Discussion forum vs the live MR Deals?

No, not in Vegas. In vegas what you call a bribe is pretty much the equivalent of tipping anywhere else.
The $20 trick is widely known, there are even website reporting success and failure depending on the hotel (just google it). No worries.

Some people are honest, they will give you back the $20 and upgrade your room. Most of them will be happily accept the TIP and upgrade your room. It's only problem when you get someone who is new there and has no idea what your $20 is for.

Okay well I guess I will give it a shot and see what happens. As I pass the passport and ID w/ the 20 should I ask if there are any upgrades available?

Because Expedia does not hold inventory of airline tickets - it acts as a 3rd party Travel Agency. They dont get much discount from the airlines.

However for hotel rooms Expedia does have inventories and the "prepaid" rooms are from the inventory. They get big discount from the hotels by "prepaying" the hotel or by agreeing to guarantee X number of rooms booked per quarter. That is why a package is cheaper than the total of 2 components booked independently.

I am sure you understand the difference of the 2.

Wait. People actually spend time in their rooms in Vegas? When I go, we normally just shower there. For a little bathroom time, an upgrade (even for only $20), seems to be overkill.

well if you stay for 3 nights, it's only $6 per night.

Considering those upgrade are usually $30+/nt more. I would say it's well worth it. $20 you probably lose it in a minute anyway. Why not invest it and make yourself more comfortable and have a better sleep at night.

That voucher is worthless. You have to buy 2 full price tickets for some mediocre shows to use the coupon. You can get better deal from travelzoo.
