Mine-and I think most everyone else's here expired on 8/28/2006(at least the good ones-i.e. the "2-fers")

Hi,

Yes I’ve got the booklet in front of me now and the BOGF’s are valid until 18th September 2006, not sure about the dining certs though as I’ve used both of these. The only certs that have expired are the Hertz ones (31/8/06).

Hmmmmm,I remember scrambling to use my EEO at the nearest Ren-and giving the Marriott ones away because mine expired on 8/28
So now I am wondering if there are booklets with staggered dates?
Anyone else have certs with expiry mid sept.?

hhoope01 Sep 13, 2006 11:44 am

The booklet I have has the Marriott and Ren 2nd Night Free coupons expiring on 8/28 also.

I did notice though that there is a Buy 2 Nights Get 1 Free coupon for a bunch of Florida Hotels and Resorts and that one expires on 9/15 and a number of coupons with 9/30 expirations. But I don't see anything with a 9/18 expiration

I noticed you used the European date format dd/mm/yy, perhaps different ones were sent to those overseas??? So do you still see B1G1 offers online when you go to the offers page???

Yes they must send out different EEO’s to European members then, in my EEO booklet there are no certs for Florida hotels. Didn’t realize Marriott did this.

My book contains:

1. Marriott & JW- Weekend BOGF (18th Sep)
2. Marriott & JW – Two for one dining (18th Sep)
3. Renaissance – Weekend BOGF (18th Sep)
4. Renaissance – Two for one dining (18th Sep)
5. London Hotels – Free sightseeing bus tour tickets when staying 1 night (18th Sep)
6. Enjoy Dubai in style (doesn’t seem to do much) (31st May 2007)
7. New Europe Hopper (31st December)
8. A rewarding round of golf – 25% off golf for 2, UK & USA (31st December)
9. Hertz – Save $30 on your next USA or Canadian rental (31st August)
10. Hertz – 15% off prestige collection cars (31st August)
11. Hertz – Earn triple Marriott Rewards points in Europe (31st August)

What did everyone else get?

The US Booklet is fairly similar. But here you go:

1. Marriott & JW- Weekend BOGF (18th Aug)
2. Marriott & JW – Two for one dining (28th Aug)
3. Renaissance – Weekend BOGF (28th Aug)
4. Renaissance – Two for one dining (28th Aug)
5. MVCI – Save 20-30% (Don't see an expiration date)
6. Caribbean and Mexico Resorts - Receive 2.5K points (30th Sep)
7. Southeast (Florida) Resorts - B2G1 (15th Sep)
8. Hertz - Complimentary Hertz #1 Club Gold and double points (28th Feb)
9. Hertz – Save $30 on USA or Canadian rental and 750 points (30st Sep)
10.Hertz – Earn triple Marriott Rewards points in Europe (31st August)
11.Marriott Cheques - Save 8K points (20%) on $100 check (31st Dec)
12.New Europe Hopper (31st December)
13.A rewarding round of golf – 25% off golf for 2, UK & USA (31st Dec)
14.Skymall - Exclusive offers for points (31st Oct)

FWIW, jonathansullivan's quote you referenced was from October 4 of last year and since last year's EEOs didn't come out until Nov. 8, I think he is fully aware that Elite offers have fallen way behind in the past.

And with that in mind Elite offers have not yet fallen behind this year by any means. It is a bit premature to imply that someone is asleep at the switch with regard to the release of EEOs this year. I personally wouldn't plan on seeing them until somewhere between September 15 and early October.

IMO, everyone starts this waiting and watching game a bit early, but then again it gives everyone time to chit chat about previous experiences like we are doing right now.

aaupgrade,

I think Marriott brought this on them selves (the watching game) as they posted replacement eeo offers 3 days BEFORE they expired the first time they made them available on the web...

Then we had the whole situation with Chris indicating they would be up by weeks end and they were 3-4 week after that coming.

"Still Nothing....Come on Marriott."

hmmm... Not sure why you are telling me this. As I am sure you knew, since you went back and checked like I did with your quote made by pwrshift, that I have been part of this discussion for years and am fully aware of what happened in the past. As a matter of fact that was my point, this is not the past, it is the present. And with it being Sept. 14 I personally believe it is a bit early to start complaining. But feel free to go at it if you like.

BTW, we all are assuming that once a set of EEOs expire that new ones should be immediately issued. While that would be great, how did we arrive at that expectation? Now that is a question worth discussing.

It seems to me that the general rule has always been a gap between sets of EEOs, and in the last year only 3 sets were released but that was probably due to the late Fall 06 EEOs. Expanding on my post in this thread from June of 2005 gives us a bit of historical perspective. Not sure about which EEOs only had 3 days before they expired. Please post a link to that info and I will gladly update this chronology.

Summer 04: Received coupons early June; Coupons expired Aug 31.

Fall 04: Received coupons end of Oct/Early Nov; Coupons expired Dec 31.

Winter 05: Coupons only went to those that renewed Gold or Platinum status. Those like me that went from Gold to Platinum, or others that went from Silver to Gold, did not receive coupons because we did not receive a renewal package. Some of us did call in and were sent coupons. Received with renewal letters mid-February with April 30 expiration.

Spring 05: Were available on-line March 29; Coupons expired June 15.

Summer 05: Were available on-line June 12; Coupons expired September 15.

Fall 05: Were available on-line November 8; Coupons expired January 30.

Winter/Spring 06: Guessing they were available on-line sometime in February (I could not find a post stating the exact date); Coupons expired April 30.

Summer 06: Were available on-line May 18; Coupons expired August 28.

Sorry, the internet medium doesn't always allow thoughts to be conveyed as thought...I was merely commenting on your statement that you felt it was early, and felt like they had brought this waiting game on themselves, by exceeding our expectations one time (June 15, 2005).

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=443858

In this case, they were up the day they were to expire (sorry, don't know why I thought they were 3 days early)

I think the June 05 post is the reason our expectations were set high by the initial launch of the online offers (Spring & Summer 05). The first time they offer it online they renew as it expires, which sets the expectation high.

Again, wasn't really meaning anything more than a casual reply responding to one of your comments. Like you, I've been talking about this since Summer 05. Sorry for any confusion.

aaupgrade Sep 14, 2006 12:36 pm

No worries. As I said we're just chit chatting. Actually your post spurred me to update my post from last year, so net gain IMO.

Ah, I thought you meant that they posted EEOs that then expired in 3 days. But you meant they posted EEOs 3 days prior to the old ones expiring. That also gives me a specific date for Summer 05 so I will go update my previous post now. As you said the internet medium doesn't always lend itself to clarity.

Anyway, the next set are supposed to have the "Instruction to Hotel" (or however they title added, hopefully to both the mailed an online versions) and should cause a decrease in the too-frequent checkout morning aggravation vis a vis the B1G1 weekend free night (JWs, Marriott FS and Rens).

Just as a thought, if that indeed comes to pass, when submitting one at check-in it might be a good idea to make some "casual" remark to the associate to the extent that "I see they're trying to give you folks a hand in the processing of these..."

The sooner hotels realize that the insrructions are right there on the coupon (or printout) the more chance of them being handled properly and not "forgotten" in the "follow-up file."
